Well, that was highly enjoyable. Bring on the second half.
-
What the... what? Casillas didn't commit either way. Ouch.

Booo. That shit was the best, particularly when you got sick from spoiled food. Or you horde all this food only for it to spoil. As if there aren't enough things to do in that game.

Sounds like we're closing in on Emre Can of Leverkusen. Super sexiful first transfer if it gets completed. Nice combination of skill and size, plus he's incredibly versatile and 20-years-old. I could see him being the long-term Gerrard "replacement" (not that you can really replace him).

So, PSG, the club that was just penalized by the Wafer FFP, is going to spend 50 millions on a player. I see.

This series is about to get nasty.

We'll see but it meshes with the meddlesome owner narrative. I think with the dearth of centres in free agency teams like anaheim and pittsburgh could pay a premium. And I know it won't be easy but moving up to first would be ideal. Tanev or Kassian plus 6th. We need a Hank replacement badly.

The Canucks had a -25 goal differential, man. That ain't no playoff team. Our top scorer had 50 flippin' points! We were the worst team in the league in the second half of the season and rode an unsustainable (we're not Anaheim) PDO the first half. What team with a core made up of guys north of 30 has ever turned it around like the Canucks would need to? If Tortorella said one wise thing in his tenure here, it's that the core is heck of stale. Barry Trotz's revolutionary tactics will be the thing that rights the ship, though, amiright?
With the best draft since 2003 (better, perhaps?) a year away, now would be the perfect time to start selling all valuable assets over the age of 25 not named Sedin. The mandate from our owner, however, is playoffs. So, we'll sign Ryan Miller, lose Markström to waivers, and sign Mike Cammalleri to a 6-year, $65 million contract. Ryan Kesler, you spent the Olympics more focused on letting people know you want out than actually playing? We'll placate you, guy! Nothing's wrong here!
While I'm ranting, mother fucking Bo Horvat (who could be a good 3C) for Schneider. Nichushkin could be the next Anze Kopitar dummy draft pick miss for the team.I think my biggest issue with Corsi at this point is calling it Advanced. Shit is grade 7 math.
It's just a new stat. Which is fine.
I was shocked by how much CBC has referred to it. It's a thing now, I suppose. That's cool. Just come up with a better name for it. Shots directed works, doesn't it? They were just using it for single games in the playoffs, which goes against the entire point, but hopefully they start to actually talk about why it's meaningful, perhaps even talk about individual player's stats (I think they did this for Crosby, but again, playoffs). Baby steps and all.

Botchford (so probably likely 10% of it having merit) tweeted that Linden said he'd find Kesler a winger and his line would be 1A. It's going to happen. :/
-
The shit Trevor Linden has been spewing lately is terrifying. Apparently the Canucks ARE good enough to be a playoff team. Could have fooled me. Robert, you're going to have to tell me what I'm in store for 'cause this sure sounds like the post-lockout Leafs or Flames.

NBA 2K on the next-gen is kind of funky. The best graphics in a sports game to date, pretty damn good upgrade on the great engine (with lots of goofy shit sure), but some really weird things like not being able to save rosters/any file to your HDD. Instead you have to upload and download them every time you want to use them. Plenty of odd shit like that. Like, can you even set up double teams in the match-ups menu anymore? I can't find how.
NHL 14 is ultra refined and great. There are some excellent rosters on operation sports that redo all the ratings and create a gap between 4th line scrubs and superstars so not everybody is rated 80-95 overall.

Tyler Myers and Ben Scrivens, ladies (?) and gentlemen.

He's kinda right on the Black Keys though.
This is pretty funny:

Guy was great.

That was a pretty good one though.
No Kroos for United. He was the one player I didn't want them to get, so that's good. Here''s hoping they spend 30m on a 30-year-old glass man.

I was actually pondering picking up a Wii U and buying a bunch of Wii games on the cheap because I haven't owned a Nintendo system since Gamecube and even that was at the tail end and never could get into it. That deal sounds haht.

This isn't funny anymore.

Mercy rule!

Yep, boooooriiiing. First two rounds are almost always more entertaining than the last two in the NHL. Complete opposite of the NBA.
-
Yeah, that'll do it.

Is Kendrick Perkins the worst starter on a playoff team (healthy lineups)?

Poo, wrong thread. While I'm here, I laughed that ESPN actually had a LeBron to Cavs article on its main page.

I thought that's what the Spengler Cup was for with the added bonus of jabroni Canada Z team.

Holy balls, I hope there are sliders for that UFC game. It looks amazing but that was a li'l too rock'em sock'em robots-esque for my liking. That was my one complaint about EA Sports MMA, it wasn't as bad as the THQ UFC games but still too quick and it was way too easy to pepper people with combinations.
