  1. That was so intense. The cops'n'robbers theme looks like a great sense of direction for what was feeling like somewhat stale gameplay. There was just sooo much going on in the trailer with all of the gadgets, weapons, interactions with the environment, etc. I'm excited. FIFA player models still don't look fantastic, but I'm holding out hope it's a worthwhile upgrade (doubtful). NHL looked neat but they didn't give us much to look at.
  2. I'd have nightmares of red checkers humbling ol' man Klinsmann.
  3. Dominic Moore is such an under-the-radar guy. I know he suffered a personal tragedy but it's strange that he always just signs with a team to no fanfare and then comes up in key moments and provides very solid play. Love that Brassard, Zuccarello, Pouliot line, bunch of misfits coming together and playing tremendously in the biggest games of their careers.
  4. Brolin and Dahlin were amazing. Don't think we got much club football in Canada back in the day other than the bigger Premier League teams and I was playing youth sawkur or sleeping when they were on, so I didn't get a chance to follow it much. But for the big international tournaments I would go full-on OCD. My parents would buy me the magazines and big specials with features on each squad and beautiful pictures. I'd read up as much as I could and watch every match with the info on hand, as I finally got to see the athletes I had only seen in stills come to life on screen. My first tournament I can really remember doing that for was World Cup '94 and those two Swedes were my jam. Both had incredible tournaments. Sweden was the neatest as a kid, too. "They are so peaceful! They have the coolest flag! Pretty ladies!" Henrik Larsson is my other Swedish football love. Agree with Mr. Swift on Fuzzy, too. Quality poster and rad name. "10%..." Edit: By '96, I had attached myself to my grandmother's Germanic roots and fell in love with old man Klinsmann, Häßler, and Bierhoff. LotharMatthäus was such a badass, I was always impressed with him as a kid even in the midnight of his career. Zanetti, EL fucking TRACTOR, was another favourite as he just never stopped moving, such industry! And his hair was always perfect despite that. Jaap Stam scared the shit out of me (still does). How could any dainty striker want to go up against that unit?
  5. To be fair, the Bruins picked Kyle McLaren, Jonathan Aitken, and Sergei Samsonov with the three picks. Samsonov had a few good years but he wasn't that far off in the '90s. There were some awful fucking draft classes in the '90s through to the mid-noughties.
  6. Laviolette was hired by Nashville last month. Bylsma's firing was fairly obvious. Florida is going to interview Willie Dersjardins after the Calder Cup finals.
  7. Huh, thanks for the info. I'll have to let my best bud know about this.
  8. Those on the fence with Mass Effect should take the plunge. $15 for ~60-70 hours of awesome gameplay is a heck of a deal.
  9. http://youtu.be/aQjn7EdWjQc It doesn't have any momentum but gotdammed if it wasn't out of nowhere and just a perfect end to Hansen's run as THE gaijin in All Japan.
  10. World Cup (of hockey) likely to return in 2016. Toronto wants to host it. Does the NHL allow players to go to Pyongyang if this is a thing?
  11. But, sticklifts, bro! Edit: I know there's a hockey game going on right now... but, is Pavel Datsyuk even better than Marian Hossa? Hossa played more games, was better at an earlier age, is a freak of nature in terms of balance and speed for a man of his size, point totals are about the same. I think overall, he's had a better career whereas Datsyuk had a four year stretch after the '04 lockout where he was dominant.
  12. You can't play the same game at the same time, can you? Interesting though. I kind of figured that when I was reading about it when I first got the machine. i wanted to lend a game to a friend but I don't know him that well and felt uncomfortable making his machine my primary one.
  13. Hmm? Explain. Pre-ordering it made the demo button disappear? What happened with The Show? Precisely on the first front. It said "Purchased" rather than download the demo this morning. It's since been changed, I'm downloading it now. The Playstation Store didn't have The Show available until the evening of release day when it's supposed to be up at midnight. I know, first world problems and all, but there isn't much point going digital when stuff like this seems to keep popping up. I may as well just pick up games from a shop, plus I can trade them in when I'm done with them (which I don't usually do, but PS4 games have decent trade-in value for the time being).
  14. Wait, so because I pre-ordered UFC from the Playstation store, I can't download the demo? Holy shit, am I never doing that again after this and The Show screw-ups.
  15. Goin' for broke! Rangers in six Over Game 1 Under
  16. What did Jake Virtanen do to Craig Button? On Button's revised list released today, he has Virtanen at #43. Nick Ritchie is at 16, too. Huh.
  17. Eh, the Rockets, Sonics, Robinson-led Spurs, Jazz, Blazers, and Barkley's Suns made for a tough conference.
  18. Watch Dogs really reminds me of Assassin's Creed 1 in that there is a tonne of potential there but the repetitive side missions and some awkwardness make for a fun yet incomplete feeling experience. They'll flesh things out, add more variety to the world and side missions for the second game (and knowing Ubisoft, it'll be out by Christmas...). I picked up a Wii U after trading in a bunch of PS4 games I was done with. I bought Gamecube at the end of its relevancy and never got into it. Skipped the Wii, so it hasn't really been until the N64 that I got some serious Nintendo gaming in. Holy shyitballs is Super Mario 3D Wold a blast. I'm just giggling like a little kid playing it. It's been too long, Mario. Much too long!
  19. The best/worst part of Watch Dogs is that the protagonist can (and will) steal from cancer patients and charity workers among others.
  20. Big Bubber was clubbering the OKC bigs in the paint. And then he can hit threes and distribute from the top of the arc. Always loved that guy. *tears up reminiscing of Walton commentary*
  21. Don't worry, guys. Gumshoe Sepp "thank you for your question, lady" Blatter is on the case! There is a 0.0005-0.005% chance of this changing anything. Also, fuck the immigrant workers who die every other day making the stadiums!
  22. I'm pulling for the Thunder... but how in the hell did the refs miss that goaltend? Unless...
