  1. I struggled to enjoy their basketball game. It felt like a decent start to a good game but not quite polished or finished to make for a good experience, like OOTP's hockey game on a much smaller scale. Anyway, the GDS one is a college football game. It's pretty darn old and still costs $30 but there is a demo. Here's the link to the forum for OOTP's football game, Beyond the Sideline (cheesy title!).
  2. The folks over at OOTP developments are working on an American football sim. Their baseball game is second only to football manager, while their hockey game felt a bit incomplete and rushed but they'll eventually turn the corner if given time and resources. I think the football game is borrowing more from OOTP than the hockey game did.
  3. Well, with the 25 CAW cap, there really was no point in trying to download WCW or ECW or '80s rosters and without the arenas there certainly ain't a reason. Very disappointing news but I hope what's in is done well and serves as a good foundation for the series on this generation of consoles. I'm still intrigued what the haxorz can pull off when the PC version is finally released. Looking at what the communities have done with NBA 2K or Skyrim, the sky is the limit. There will be a long period in which they have to sort out what they're working with, like the NBA community with the new gen stuff on PC, but after that...Maybe they'll figure a way of working around the creation suite's limitations and have create an arenas/titles/women with no 25 cap. At least that's my hope.
  4. I like Douglas more than most on here but "he's shooting! He's shooting" is the worst. I felt like it totally took the air out of that angle. And goofball fan with hilarious red hair was a bit too obvious of a plant. Pillman, though, fuuuuuck yeaaaaaaah.
  5. Huh, interesting that they didn't just use Haytham for AC3 for this story. I didn't even know that game was a thing until people started mentioning it in this thread last week. Looks more like AC3 than Black Flag.
  6. Remember when Rene Bourque lit it up in the playoffs and it looked like he found his old stride? He cleared waivers and is now in Hamilton playing for the Bulldogs.
  7. Chris Bosh's new single: "Ya'll Musta Forgot" It's good to see Bosh excel with more touches.
  8. Man, Marcelo Bielsa is probably my favourite manager in football. He's such a bad ass, all propped up on his li'l cooler with his glasses, heck of intense, great trainer and amazing tactician. Everywhere he goes, he brings success. Edit: Arsene says nobody can challenge Chelsea... Has he not seen Newcastle lately?
  9. Modou Barrow for Swedish King.
  10. Lester and/or Shields is looking pretty good right about now.
  11. It looked killer when he did it on this week's episode.
  12. Agreed. I watched the event in its entirety yesterday and was pleased with how well it came off and aged. I still think Vader in the WWF was really poorly handled. He was acting like a slightly bigger, bully heel instead of the beast he was in WCW even after Hogan arrived and ruined everything. Shawn was really on a roll at this time - his peak IMO, Davey and Owen were such a slick team, Vader had good heat (SHOULDA BEEN BETTA!), Sid was hugely over (though they fucked up the hot tag for him, sticking to script rather than pulling the trigger when the crowd was going banana for him on the apron), and Ahmed was a brick shithouse whom I'm unsure if he knew wrestling was worked. Really fun match with all guys getting their shit in and building up the Vader/HBK Summerslam match very well. Just lots of good mini-segments within the match but it flowed as a whole really well too. Just about as good of a match as they could've had. The event as a whole was really, really fucking fun to watch for the first time since being in attendance. I totally didn't remember seeing Backlund in the crowd. I do remember Austin being over like rover for a going nowhere midcard heel. Everything seemed to click outside of the tag opener because the Boddydonnas were an awful face team and Chris Candido was pretty awful. I've watched a few of his matches in the past few months and been really disappointed with what I've seen. No aura of a wrestler, just a guy thinking about what sweet move he's going to do next. Not much in the way of psychology either (that match he had with Lance at Heat Wave '98 was the fucking pits, throwing out huge moves like top rope powerbombs like they were bodyslams). But, hey, at least Pillman made it worthwhile somehow. Fuck, that guy was da best. Such a presence and he had that real aura of "what the hell is he going to do now?!" every time he was on TV. It'd be neat if they recognized early hints of the Attitude Era with things like Pillman, Diesel pulling off an effective tweener act in late '95/early '96 years before Austin doing it, Goldust making backward folk feel uncomfortable, Bret losing a gasket in the leadup to his heel turn AND his heel turn - but fuck that guy, pal. It wasn't just this switch they flicked when they were losing to WCW in late '97. I just watched that December '97 Raw where Vince does his famous Attitude speech, Owen drops a bunch of swears on TV (gasp!), and Austin throws the IC belt off the bridge. Shit had slowly moved towards that point long before Vince's heel turn.
  13. Charlie, we should've never said anything nice about the Nucks.
  14. What the hell are you talking about? It's August and the season is about to kick off! The weather seems a bit shit and days are oddly short but things are bright for LFC, BAY-BAY! Seriously, though, it feels like the last year of Rafa up to Rodgers' first year here where we're vulnerable against any and all teams and opposition regardless of stature look forward to coming to Anfield. I thought we were past that with the last half of Rodgers' first year and last season but apparently not. I think the only way we have a shot at 4th is if United's defence gets even worse than it already is.
  15. I was at that show and 10-years-old at the time. I remember digging the hell out of Undertaker's entrance, the match was pretty good to boot and the Austin/Mero match was a lot of fun. Mankind scared the shit out of me, but I was oddly a fan of his. I knew he was creepy but I also enjoyed watching him, if that makes sense. The mandible claw is the best/worst finisher. I haven't watched the show on tape or in any other fashion since being there and am interested to see just how hot the crowd was for the main event. I remember being a little disappointed at the time because the show didn't have a title match or at least a 1 v 1 featuring HBK but it was cool to see him, Sid (whom I loved as a kid and still do - Survivor Series '96 rules!), and Vader live. Speaking to that, Vancouver tends to get screwed with live shows. I mean, it's nice that we get them to begin with, but a random six-man tag, that god awful Rock Bottom show (fuck, that sucked), and a Raw in the early-to-mid noughties ending with lame Kane delivering a piledriver to Shane-O-Mac. Wow. And those UFC cards. Edit: Put the event on the Network and holy crap, is it just me or does Prichard as Zip look kind of like a bleach blonde 'n less bloated Matt Hardy? Double Edit: Pillman was the man. Totally forgotten in the WWE narrative of the Attitude Era other than being "that guy whose house Austin invaded."
  16. Craig "quality/whatashot" Forrest. Also, I know that li'l runt Gerry Dobson has made himself the host of football coverage in Canada but fuck him. James Sharman is great because he doesn't take himself or the game ultra seriously but enough so to do the game credit. Way more natural too. Edit: holy shit, this Bad News segment is unreal! "Phil Jones is injured... Did anybody notice? Jonny Evans is out... He was probably injured by Phil Jones in training."
  17. Bad News Barrett's appearance on Canadian TV has been rad. He puts Danny Dichio and Craig Forrest to shame and he's barely said anything of note.
  18. So, guys... when does the campaign start?! I'm excited for the upcoming season!
  19. Lots to like with that episode. Randy slopping wine all over himself and saying what he's doing was classy "elegantly cultural" might be my favourite. OH! And that alcohol commercial was fucking perfect, too!
  20. Also, that Pillman 9:mm sig is the best thing.
  21. http://youtu.be/zbSA8OPkXfU They be clubberin', Tony! Warning: This video may contain a core soundtrack that may not be suitable to all audiences It also starts to loop about two-thirds of the way through. Lots of nice strikes in there, hair movement, solid transitions leading to finally a decent level of fluidity, good pacing from what I can tell. edit: Updated with the original sound and clearer video.
  22. C'mon now, major underappreciation for Sid's brilliance as a human being and professional wrestler in that podcast. Good stuff other than that from what I've heard.
  23. Jim Benning: genius? *shrug* I still don't like Ryan Miller's face.
  24. I don't have the game but generally there are a myriad of slider sets over at the Operation Sports forums.
