  1. For those saying this is setting up a world title rematch, in what world? Punk, according to the story they told us very clearly, came back too early and also got his ass kicked decisively as a result. Why would I be interested in a rematch a week and a half later? That match effectively killed an immediate rematch in my opinion and sets one up later down the road. How is Punk going to be any better in 11 days after theoretically reaggravating his injury yesterday? Where is the logic? This would have worked if it were a month ago, not so much now imo.

  2. I know I'm a Garcia promo defender but I don't think his perceived flaws are actually flaws. He delivers his lines as a person would actually talk rather than the clichéd wwe promo manner. As somebody said earlier, not everybody needs to be The Rock. I wish more people would watch territory promos when wrestlers just talked like themselves most of the time. Garcia in that sense is very much a pro wrestler and not a sports entertainer.

  3. They are night and day in terms of storytelling and psychology. I don't know if there have been (m)any better longterm, big match storytellers than Omega. His main shot at Ospreay highlights their difference: Ospreay has loads of great matches that people consume and forget whereas Omega tells stories that move people and will stand the test of time. It's as if Ospreay homeschooled himself on how to be Omega but missed the most important part. That he's this cocky and up his own ass is the best and it suits him and his lack of storytelling really well, bruv. It's a fascinating contrast and I think it'll be a wonderful feud that kicks off in earnest next week.

I was of the opinion that White is the NJPW guy you want (if Okada doesn't get bored and wants to do stuff stateside longterm) but Ospreay's promos on Omega and every one of his matches in AEW have won me over completely. The Jake Paul but Bruv gimmick is something he's mastered completely too. He's leaned into being himself, a piece of shit.

THAT is how you do a six man party match fuckfest and every match for this title needs to be that.  Maybe minus the interfence, but you know what I mean. I want fewer tags and more double teams that last forever.

The Jim Ross Memorial Trios Titles. That guy's heart is going to explode.

  5. Here's the full video of the post-show back and forth. Sorry I didn't see it had been posted in bits previously. The board update is fucking with my phone.

Ospreay roasts Omega and I am an Omega fanboy of the highest order. I hate that I love Will Ospreay this much. I don't know how many dates you can bring him in over the next year but the money is in Callis turning his back on Omega for Ospreay. I get that it's kinda been done in WWE recently but this is something I think they've been setting up since Callis came in. I hope whatever happens the Bucks are heels. Please, God.

Eddie Kingston had been suspended by AEW
Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara were supposed to compete at All Out, but that doesn't seem like it's happening.

AEW hasn't confirmed one way or another, but Eddie Kingston has been off television the last couple of weeks, with Fightful gaining word he was briefly suspended by the company. Fightful has been unable to confirm that with All Elite Wrestling, but have heard that he's already completed it. Kingston has not been present at recent All Elite Wrestling segments, and we've been told of at least one segment to build up the once-planned All Out match that was scrapped. Rumors among talent that we've heard about said that Guevara and Kingston had developed heat and it devolved into an "altercation." The word backstage was that Guevara made a comment about Kingston's physique, and Kingston took a swing at him. We've not confirmed that with anyone that witnessed it, and reached out to both parties.

The feud is continuing, as Sammy Geuvara and Tay Melo are taking on Ortiz and Ruby Soho on Rampage.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp noted ahead of AEW Dynamite on Twitter that All Out changes were happening. At that time, there were no matches that were publicly set for the show that would end up on the actual card.

We haven't learned if this situation has since been rectified, or the status of the match moving forward.

Further details on the Kingston/Guevara situation.

I mean, Kingston did nothing wrong. I'm sure they'll try to sweep the Rosa stuff under the carpet but this is less easy to handwave away. Never a dull moment.

  7. There is an awful lot of main event calibre guys without a match at All Out so far. Are we also getting Sting/Darby/Miro vs. House of Black? Jade vs. Athena? Is Claudio in the ladder match? Is Page really chilling w the DO as a cheerleader? MJF where are yooouuu? So many questions. I would appreciate MJF winning the ladder match. No Andrade or Roosh?

Will Ospreay is fucking ON FIRE in AEW.  Him versus Kenny Omega should be the match of the year.

Maybe at the Tokyo Dome. Either way it'll rule and I really want Omega to win even though he probably won't. Then again if NJPW can't do the right thing with Ospreay why should AEW?

I was disappointed we didn't get the match we had hoped for but chaos is fun and not knowing where things are going is awesome. Just maybe don't do it a week and a half before a ppv?

  9. I know who they should crown as interim champion but I also know who they will crown as interim champion. The four way has a lot more potential than ThunderStorm 1v1 at least.

I cannot watch Jay Lethal. I just tune out and go on my phone.

Another aspect to the squash match is that it educates fans that a title match can be short and not always be 25+ minutes.

As much as it did irreparable harm to my boi Jun Akiyama, Ogawa beating him in no time with a shock flash fall for the ghc title is one of the all time ballsiest moves and keeps fans on their toes. Hiromu and Kushida a few years back did it too. As soon as they announced the trios as the main the game was... Afoot.

  11. Holy shit what is going on with this company lmao?

Main event reminded me of Sting and Luger vs. Steiners. All timer match (despite Aussie Open's best efforts) spoiled by a dogshit angle finish. Ospreay and Pac need to do it up for 30 again but this time not in Rev Pro. Incredible chemistry. Best spotfest AEW has put on in forever and Kip fucking Sabian dampens the mood?!

After watching that weird episode, just makes me think AEW has way too much talent not to be putting on matches like that consistently. Whatever.

Less than a week's build for your big ppv main event. Okay.

  12. Follow up on the meeting... FIRED UP TONY KHAN! Y'ALL GOT NINE DAYS! NINE DAYS TO GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER! NINE DAYS!

UPDATE: In an update, Fightful Select has learned some details about the talent meeting.

We were told the meeting took place between 3 and 4 PM eastern, and that Tony Khan was "fired up" for it. Several topics were tackled, including working as a team, the lines of communication, and who the talent can talk to. The access to Tony Khan was also addressed, as the rumors of miscommunication and lack of access to him had emerged. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were said to have made it clear that their door is always open, and that they can be reached for concerns as well. Talent were briefed via email recently about several of the new coaches and talent relations promotions.

We've also heard that the contract tampering an inquiry rumors were addressed, though we haven't learned of the context.

We'll work to find out more from the meeting

Jericho also made it pretty clear (on twitter recently) that he'd been at least one of the persons contacted by WWE saying that a promotion was interested in reuniting Owens, Zayn, and Jericho.

Also, strong agree to Mox/Punk being something you constantly build to with minor backstage promos and vignettes n shit to keep people tuned in. Let the trios match lead off in a spotfest with a hot crowd.

    Wicked.

Who is credited with the idea of Moxley vs. Punk tonight, more details
AEW Dynamite saw a shock main event made for Cleveland on August 24, as the planned All Out main event between Jon Moxley and CM Punk to unify the AEW World Titles was moved up a week and a half.AEW

sources indicated to Fightful that Jon Moxley was in favor of the move, and one source even indicated that it was his idea and pitch, and All Elite Wrestling went with it. The same source also said that "eventually CM Punk agreed to it." We haven't learned if this was connected to any of the reported issues with CM Punk last week. Grapsody's Will Washington noted on the air that he'd heard there was an idea in play a few days before to increase ticket sales and add buzz to the Cleveland AEW show. Fightful has reached out to AEW officials, who did not respond when asked for comment on this story.

We've not been told of creative plans heading out of this match.

Fightful Select was told last week that the decision was not the original plan, and that "multiple plans" for AEW All Out had changed.

Moxley being the one behind it is a li'l unexpected if he loses tonight. Wanting to lose as the home(state) boy?

    AEW meeting taking place today
Some things will be addressed today in Cleveland.

Fighful Select has learned that there is a mandatory talent meeting today at the All Elite Wrestling Dynamite tapings. We're told Tony Khan will be present, but not many details are known beyond that. The talent we've heard from expect it to address some of the rumors of unrest, contract inquiries, and personal issues, as well as those things being leaked. However, they've not been given any firm details on what to expect. We'll work to learn details and provide them here.

Though the meeting is for talent, there are plenty of talent who weren't brought in for this set of tapings and won't be at the show.

  15. Yeah HIAC rule but traditional cage matches? Probably No Mercy is the closest. Those Fire Pro escape cage matches are a living hell.

Okay what... You can't share creations? What the fuck? Why not? Even Fire Pro World's overburdened mini team figured that shit out, man. They gotta get that sorted.

  16. Yup. I'd be fine with some of the sped up moves if they'd sell a bit more and do the AKI head holding once they're damaged. Something to signify that they're in a fight and a li'l fucked up. But the main pieces sure look like they're there.

Have cage matches in any wrestling game throughout the years been fun?

  17. I turned it off because Uno was giving me anxiety lol.

I'm reading on the twitter that the mini entrances are going to be expanded upon for the final version, is that right? I don't really care too much either way tbh but it'd be nice to have the option.

It really does look like a hybrid of No Mercy and Smackdown games though. That's awesome.

  18. He noticeably goes into aki blocking later tho.

Okay, so they showed Cole vs Omega. I like a lot of it, like up to five sigs and finishers for wrestlers, the momentum meter from aki, but the animations are all over the place. The back suplex and German suplex are just way too fast. Avalanche OWA looked great though. I know it's more of an arcade game, but a little bit of selling would be nice. Didn't love Cole going on offense pretty much right after taking the standard OWA. Overall I'm happy with it. Looks fun.
