Re: Friday Night Lights movie: I think it would have been a bad idea. The television series gave a pretty satisfying finale, not sure what the movie could have covered. Of course, if Britton and Chander's careers stagnate over the next decade, maybe they bring the show back, focusing on their family up north, and with Gracie Belle as a teenager. Plus, we could get Saracen back with a grandchild. Book it now, NBC!!!

Finished the Christmas shopping, then spent the evening watching the beloved Winnipeg Jets win while drinking beers named "Hoptimus Prime", "Loki", "Hops and Robbers", "Red Hammer" and "Total Eclipse of the Hop". To quote the lyrical poet Ice Cube "Today Was a Good Day".

Yet another reason I love living downtown. Shit gets done right away. All the sidewalks and streets around me have been completely clear for 2 weeks. I have a friend who works for 311, apparently there were hundreds of calls over the weekend of people complaining that their area hadn't yet been plowed. Now we just need to find a way for watermains to stop bursting. Three have busted within 5 minute walking distance of my apartment in the past month!

Damn, got home tonight and the sidewalks were cleaned on both sides of the street. Probably just a coincidence, but a very nice one.

I stop fast forwarding the PVR to watch that damn commercial. If Sprint was in Canada, I'd consider switching to them, as long as they provided me with a ringtone of James Earl Jones saying "Totes McGotes".

Porky is one of those guys who you can get a room full of people to watch, even though none of us can understand a damn word the announcers are saying. Entertaining, and when shit hits the fan, he's a good brawler too. Whomever came up with the wrestler of the day idea, top notch. Fun way to generate some discussion around here that doesn't involve who is sleeping with who (at least until EL DANDY gets to be WOTD).

I voted for worldwide 64. Pick the best 64 you think from around the world, as opposed to 16 from Japan, 16 from Mexico, 16 from WWE and 16 from the Indies/TNA. If your best 64 ends up with 40 guys under WWE contract, so be it. Remember, you are the one running this, your game, your rules.

The city cleans your sidewalks for you? Here in the States, it's up to the homeowner or business owner to take care of it. City does the streets, residents do the sidewalks. They are supposed to clean the sidewalks. Doesn't ususally happen, although for some reason the bike paths are always majestic in the winter. I will give them some credit, I wrote a tweet about it, and they contacted me within an hour asking where the sidewalks had not been cleared.

Fuck you to the City of Winnipeg for not cleaning the fucking sidewalks in my neighbourhood. Tore up a nice pair of pants this morning slipping and falling on that shit. Raise our taxes and still cut back on street and sidewalk cleaning in the winter? Fuck you.

The "When will Jennifer Jones have a total meltdown game where she outthinks herself and loses to some crap team" over/under is set at 3.5 games. I predict under, but she should bring home a gold medal for Canada, and if she does, I think she retires after that.

FUCK YOU to family members complaining about Christmas gifts. My mother has decided she's not telling anyone what she wants for Christmas, becasue we didn't ask her SOON ENOUGH what she wanted. So the head of the family is acting like my five year old nephew. Wonderful. Next year I am proposing a new rule, gifts for the kids only. At least they are semi-cute when they complain about their gifts. Grown adults acting like spoiled children about their gifts is some bullshit, and I am sick of dealing with it.

How much real noise is there in Winnipeg about Pavelic vs. Montoya, if any? There's people talking about it. I think Montoya should play more, I think he should get 3 out of every 10 games, instead one or two. There's more noise from the fanbase about firing Coach Noel. Too many people around here have their head in the sand. The Jets are an average team in an above average division, but folks think they should be making the playoffs this season. Not going to happen.
