  1. It is Shawn for me. There have been better promo guys and overall workers but on a match to match basis there is no one I would rather watch than him. I can also rewatch so many of his matches and still notice new things upon repeated viewings. I also think his matches with Taker at Mania are the peak of WWE main event style. I'm also amazed that he came back from a potentially career ending back injury and was arguably better than before.
  2. Wait, people STILL aren't over that? Really? Jay Z is more known for being Beyonce's husband and Kanya West's mentor/ collaborator than he is for anything he's done in his own right. He seems to have managed the jump from "Successful American Artist unknown in the UK" to "Legend in his field" better than Garth Brooks or Counting Crows ever did, I'll give him that. But basically, he's the Black Billy Ray Cyrus*, in't'e? * nb: Billy Ray Cyrus is only known in the UK for being Miley's Dad, and Achy Breaky Heart was a minor hit a very long time ago. Was the Hova's Black Album really not a big deal in the U.K.? Yeah I also find this hard to believe. 99 Problems was one of the biggest songs of the decade, let alone Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Change Clothes, etc. and the fact that it was supposed to be his retirement album too.
  3. Briscoe/Elgin/Cole/Styles four way has been announced for the belt in Brooklyn. I guess Jay will be eating that fall. I'm curious to see how they do in the baseball stadium that TNA used to run up until this year.
  4. That show peaked with the 2/3 falls match (and even that didn't get going until the third fall and starting with when it was Jimmy/Harper alone) and just was steadily down hill since then. The Ambrose/Rollins stuff was good for the most part but doing it three times felt like overkill. Really sloppy wrestling tonight too with a lot of botches. I guess I had too high of hopes for this show as it looked like a definite candidate for sleeper show of the year on paper, but the execution was pretty dreadful.
  5. Decided to work my way through the Clashes and PPVs of 92 WCW tonight. I watched the first Clash of the year (18) and holy shit was the Steiners/Hughes and Vader a lot of fun. They threw Vader and Hughes around like two rag dolls. Can't believe I had never seen this before. Really good show overall though with a lot of variety and never felt like it dragged much. I'm really looking forward to working my way through the rest of 92. I wish the Saturday Nights were up for this though.
  6. Marilyn Manson is also going to be on this season as well. He'll be playing a white supremacist in prison...groundbreaking new character there. Very ready for this show to be done.
  7. As of now I have Shield/Wyatts from EC and Trips/Bryan from Mania as my 1 and 2. I'm having a hard time believing anything beats either of those but I am very optimistic about Cena/Brock at SS if they follow through with that.
  8. Yeah I was very shocked to see Schiavone on this and his voice sounds so different now. Pretty good first episode that covered a lot of familiar ground but I do think they had a good diversity of perspectives and there seemed to be a good number of recent interviews (although most seemed to be from 2011-12ish).
  9. They really could have been a good act in WWE especially the last couple years where the WWE started caring about factions and tag teams again. It's a shame Jay has to be such an ignorant bigot and be oh so proud of it.
  10. I'm looking to work my way through the WCCW shows they have up. Are there any I MUST see or should I just start at the first that is available and follow it as chronologically as possible? Anything in particular to be aware of? I've seen the WWE doc on WCCW and a few of the bigger matches here and there but that's my main exposure to it.
  11. I thought the tag title match was the best of the night. The briefcase match wasn't bad and the back body drop onto the ladder Rollins took was nasty. Main was cluttered and pretty nondescript. As much as I don't like Cena winning I am pretty hyped on Lesnar/Cena II as long as Brock wins.
  12. Gamboa/Crawford was a great fight. Anyone else catch it? Crawford made some incredible adjustments (going southpaw and really narrowing in on Gamboa's timing) that allowed him to take over after the fourth or fifth round. Gamboa just didn't seem to have much of a game plan beyond using his speed and trying to catch Crawford with a right hook.
  13. Yeah if the fight had happened like 2-4 years ago I would be much more hyped for it, but especially on the tail end of their last performances I just don't think it will be what I could have been. I do think it could go either way though which makes it exciting.
  14. 2007 definitely dropped off post-Mania (although Backlash was a pretty good show that year) but I remember really digging the main event scene starting with the Cena/Orton match at Summerslam. Orton had a great run as champ with good matches with Cena, Triple H, and Shawn at SS that year too.
