  1. I’m the asshole who would want Danielson or Regal to stretch him just a bit...
  2. Wasn’t there a huge upset happening in the NCAA tournament during Dynamite? That could explain that huge 15 minute crater.
  3. main event at the next CYN hotel meeting room show
  4. San Antonio is a Metal town, I suspect that’s part of it. The Austin show will be interesting because probably 10% of the audience is going to look like skinnier Brody Kings.
  5. That was mariachi and it was fucking awesome. Mariachi is HUGE in San Antonio, UT-San Antonio has a mariachi program including a mariachi band and their own mariachi song. (This is not the actual song). That was the perfect entrance for Rosa in her hometown, although I wish they had been mic’ed better. Then Rosa with the fancy sombrero and mariachi jacket, that got a hot crowd to the boiling point. Honestly, a Selena song might have been overkill. So, I mentioned how my hotel cable went out, ironically it was right after Britt said “send in a fucking ref” and I thought it was meant as a brief censorship thing but then it lasted and I turned to other channels. Still. I was almost in tears when I finally saw the ending and the celebration last night. Talk all the shit you want about La Mera Mera, she goes all out and clearly loves what she’s doing. I also wondered what the connection was with Dustin, other than Texas. I also honestly expected for either Hayter or Rebel to crawl out from under the ring. Really loved the show, although it’s going to take a little more to sell me on Wheeler Yuta as a future badass. First of all, they need to get him wearing wrestling boots. The JAS thing is clever but needed to be much shorter (although I suppose having a never-ending talk segment is peak sports entertainment). Garcia doesn’t belong at all. Hangman was great, the triple moonsault was great (especially when they got the angle right on replay). Half-speed, sloppy Hardyz can have a few weeks of crowd love and t-shirt sales before they start putting over younger teams. I personally thought the Wardlow-Sky segment worked really well to put across Sky as an undeserving heel champion, and advance Wardlow’s feud with MJF and Spears. The announcers really put over the fact that Wardlow’s time as MJF’s enforcer hasn’t won him any friends in the locker room, so he’s on his own right now. Looking forward to next week live, even though I have no idea what to expect. Definitely excited to celebrate Thunder Rosa’s debut as the champion, although I’m only expecting a promo leading to an angle.
  6. That main event needed about 5 minutes, which they could have taken from the JAS segment to make that tighter and more effective.
  7. The cable in the hotel room went out with 6 minutes left in the match so I’m avoiding spoilers until i can watch at home tomorrow. But mariachis were puro SA.
  8. I thought I saw 2 on the "new arrivals" tab, but I could be wrong. I was mostly browsing to see what kinds of non-shirt merch I might get next week (was hoping for a Chaos Project trucker hat or some cooler pins than the ones they have right now).
  9. I don't like it but the live crowd loves it and I bet they're moving a shit ton of merch, I think they already had 3 shirts on the website.
  10. Ruby using the handshake before the match in her recent Youtube matches, combined with the open acknowledgment and promotion of the ROH Pure Champion tonight, sure might be something. Like DEAN implied, is Darius Martin actually the more talented Martin brother, or just the slightly more grounded one? Top Flight is a lot of fun. Also, it's been said by others, Daivari-Khash are a great tag team and I'd love to see them get a Dark push. The opening comedy match was great. The Chaos Project-Silver & Reynolds wasn't as good in comparison, nor as good as the one from yesterday. The Emi-Royal match was the most fun of all of them, and man was it nice to see Emi finally get to just lay into someone and dominate while also having fun. The 2.0/Garcia squash did nothing for me. Luke Sampson had a really good match a couple weeks back and now he's jobber fodder to 2.0? Nah. Archer was a fun Kane for Page, now I'm fully over it. At least they were short? The Diamante and Hirsch matches were perfectly cromulent matches. Soho-Amboise was the best of the women's matches tonight (notwithstanding the fun of Emi-Royal), and I'd like to see more of Amboise. The Starks match was fine but I fucking hate Taz. Really just couldn't get into Ten-Solo or Kazarian-Johl, its been a long day but Solo had his miracle match last week and Johl does nada for me.
  11. Every time I tried to give WWE a try the past few years I would watch for 15-20 minutes and no wrestling would even happen, it’s why I gave up even trying.
  12. I didn’t watch a lot of wrestling, especially WWF, during the Razor Ramon era but I do remember watching a show (probably the weekend highlights show) when he lost to some no-name jobber called the Kid. It was mind blowing to me at the time. I was already a major WCW fan when the NWO invasion happened. He had great matches and was the only one of the top NWO guys to put people over, including getting recklessly beaten by Goldberg. Wrestling seems to take its toll on a lot of those involved in it, glad he was able to get himself back together and it’s been nice to read that The Bad Guy was actually a really good guy at heart.
  13. Bunny was a fantastic mean girl bully to Skye Blue during their match. I liked that one the best, partly because it felt like the only one where either team could have credibly won. Three women's matches this week with the Nyla squash (and the insult to injury after) and the decent Ruby Soho match. Feels like they're building Nyla up to get back on the main show. I'm 100% behind a Chaos Project-Dark Order feud.
  14. Had a short day of fieldwork due to cold rain so caught up some on YT shows. Taz really annoyed the shit out of me, catchphrase Jones needs to stop trying to get himself over. That Solo-Yuta match was really really good, I just can’t care much for either of them but they went all out and really nailed it. Plus the very funny spot with Yuta pretending that Marshall crotched him on the ropes to get Marshall ejected. Marshall has a little bit of Heenan to him. edit to add: remembered that the Sydal-Serpentico match was also really good. One of these days Serpentico's streak is going to be broken and those of us in this thread will party!
  15. you forgot Malcolm Brown ?
  16. Damn, Baker Mayfield no longer the worst QB in that division
  17. If unreasonably happy means I can’t say guys like Steamboat and Sting from when I was a kid, then I’ll pick Koko B. Ware. I was a huge mark for him. Monday Night Wars era: Juventud Guerrera and Blitzkrieg Same era lucha: Super Porky Modern day: Dante Martin and The Acclaimed.
  18. That guy should be Regal. 40 years in the business, long runs with WCW and WWE, years of backstage experience, trainer, etc. Regal is someone Vince should have kept on payroll just to keep him away from the competition.
  19. if AEW keeps growing, it’ll be interesting to see what they do in Austin. The Cedar Park center was built for minor league hockey and has a capacity of 8,000. The new Moody Center is on the UT campus and has a capacity of 15,000. I would much prefer to go to the campus area where I can get by bus or ride share, or pay $20 to park than the Cedar Park Center, which is northwest of Austin on one of the worst stretches of rush hour traffic, and also has $20 parking.
  20. I agree with all of this, although I don’t know enough about Keith Lee yet to know for sure if he could be a heel. The idea of a Bockwinkel eloquent heel is intriguing but Lee is a hoss whereas Bockwinkel was a grappler. I’m 100% with you on that main event being a weird way to bring in Swerve after a big PPV signing. Nese has been a JTTS and getting wins of local enhancement on YouTube, which is fine and all. Also, I apparently am the only one who felt like Swerve made all of Nese’s offense look great while Nese wasn’t working well getting Swerve over. It’s my first time seeing Strickland so apparently he has a lot of convoluted moves and unnecessary rolls and flourishes so maybe that was the issue? I gotta be honest, I really don’t care about 2022 Hardy Boyz but the fans are into it and that’s what matters.
  21. I'm not sure he was ever all that good in the ring, the Blockbuster requires more cooperation and set-up than many of today's most convoluted finishers. But yeah, he was a superb prick in that tag team with Norton in those early NWO days.
  22. It's well known in the AEW folder that I dislike Billy Gunn, but his work managing the Ass Boys has me hating him less. And either way, I've never enjoyed a second of anything Road Dogg has done in ring or otherwise, he's...
  23. I think they finally realized it was too similar to the MJF-Wardlow angle running at the same time. But if you notice in the backstage promos, she isn't doing the D-M-D.
  24. JD Drake is the quintessential 80s southern territories upper mid-carder, but he kind of looks like a Sheepherder/Bushwhacker.
