  1. Mox is basically making someone different a bigger AEW star every week, he's my WOTY. This was the perfect way to get the FTW onto Hook and take Starks to the next level. Like @For Great Justicesaid, that was a perfect pro wrestling sequence. Dante-Sammy was excellent but wasn't all it could be because of the injury, hope it's not serious. How about that huge air from the stage? Dante and Skye being a real-life couple is so cute I could scream. Hope she whoops Tay's ass. They gave Jungle Boy all the swears. It's kind of weird to me how much good ol' JR loves Jungle Boy considering what he normally goes for. JB still really does nothing for me but the crowd loves him. Thanks @DEANfor the Sterling/Jimmy Hart comparison. Fun match for what it was. Josh Woods is eh for me, so perfect for a tag team with Nese, who is still pretty eh for me. They will make good fodder for StrickLee Business's first defense. Need more non-DO JTTS. I found the Rosa-Miyu match mighty awkward for huge stretches, I didn't hate it but I thought it only really gelled a couple of times. Main was definitely something different and unexpected. I love Garcia, I love him as a foil for BCC since he's matching their style and intensity. The backstage stuff moved pretty quick and set up some stuff. Best thing tonight was NO BOOMER SOONER!
  2. Yes, I can't imagine that campaign would want someone around with a whiff of paying off your victims of SH/SA and making them sign NDAs...
  3. When I was a kid in Ohio they had a white bengal cub born at the Cincinnati Zoo and it was a HUGE DEAL! Went to see it, bought one of those felt pennant souvenirs and honestly might still have it somewhere. It was actually right around the time they switched to the stripe helmet so it's double nostalgia for my days as a young Bengals fan before moving to NYC and an eventual Super Bowl winner.
  4. One of my favorite thing about the live lucha shows I saw in Mexico was that you had so many women and kids and they went apeshit for babyfaces and HATED rudos, while the dudes were more mixed. And you would see women and children getting legit pissed at their husband/dad for cheering rudos.
  5. Craig H answered really well right above this. I don’t think that’s an accurate assessment of Claudio on Gresham’s part.
  6. Pretty rich coming from a guy whose character is “short strong man who wrestles well”
  7. That crowd cared more about Serena Deeb than every one of her AEW television appearances in the last 6 months combined.
  8. Yeah, you should be paying him for what he brings with his talent and wealth of knowledge but if not that you at least pay him to keep him from working for your competition.
  9. 8 Star FTR?!?!? Fun night of wrestling. Honestly, wouldn’t have minded if they had Deeb go over, she seems to have a home in ROH. Garcia-Yuta was fun and I would’ve been fine with another 5-10 minutes. Truly expected Lethal to win, don’t know that Joe is more than a special attraction at this point.
  10. Only thing I watch on Peacock is WCW and territories but I know that still makes them money.
  11. Had a long, hot, exhausting week and had to stay out of town an extra night, but I am now home and with the extra per dime I got for today I decided to buy the PPV (also since it’s only $40). Missed the first 20 minutes or so of the buy-in but got my beers and ready to go.
  12. If you had told me at the start of the year that my favorite wrestler was going to be a Japanese guy obsessed with Cinnabon and other American fast food, I would have said "hell yeah!" Lard Lad fan club VP here!
  13. I'm cracking myself up imagining them dubbing an updated Max Caster rap over the taped footage. I'm also exhausted and sun-addled so easily amused.
  14. I almost mentioned in my post-show comments that it looked like Jericho had a broken nose. Guess now we know he did, and how it happened. Anything from Eddie yet on his hand?
  15. Today while doing fieldwork we had to cross a very high barbed wire fence to go back and forth to the truck (for cold water); either climb up about 4 feet and over, or belly crawl under. Obviously, I was thinking about yesterday when I was slithering under and started getting my safety vest hooked. Then later one of my co-workers joked they were just going to run really hard and try to bust through, which was when I told them that I had watched a barbed wire wrestling match the night before. There are also electric fences there, so almost like an exploding ropes match.
  16. I recall that Jay-Jade match being unexpectedly good, like maybe the first good Jade match.
  17. Hog Wild is not canon WCW in my world.
  18. I like Skye Blue because I would like to see her elevated more. My wild idea, if she's recovered from her injury, is Bunny. Ruby, rather than looking for help from a face, decides that what she needs is someone crazy, vicious, and hates TayJay. Hell, play up the mercenary aspect for added explanation.
  19. Last thought before I log off: Discovery exec : Hey Tony, how about some synergy? Tony: "Hell yeah, how about a shark cage above the ring?" Discovery exec: "Umm, sure, we were thinking more like shark fin hats and a shark mascot on screen" Tony: "No problem! I'm all about synergy with our new partners! What about having some wrestlers do Shark Week promos?" Discovery exec: "You got it" picks up the phone and calls the only wrestler he's ever heard of: "Hey Rock, we want a wrestler hosting Shark Week"
  20. Fuck it, give Sammy and Tay 100k and 3 months off for a honeymoon.
  21. They've started adding in a few more of the old-guard ROH guys now. And a Willow Nightengale pre-show match (because we can't have more than one women's match on a card in AEW booking).
  22. Yeah, that barbed wire match started strong and turned pretty bad, maybe Eddie got hurt, definitely just incredibly overbooked. Give him his fucking win already. Also, shocked Eddie managed to avoid a crimson mask. Saw the Anna Jay turn a mile away. Good things: The opening tag was a good match with a good story. FTR promo. Cake in the face. Women's tag match was very good. Darby-Brody. Like I said elsewhere, it was like the big dickhead bouncer at a big punk show versus all the kids trying to stagedive. I'm not sure how that finished didn't break Darby's neck, I think he's made of rubberbands. Bad things: Too stuffed, felt very "Crash TV", so many backstage segments. Ready for RoH to be its own thing so they don't get so much AEW TV. A "famous" rapper KOing Tony Nese. Felt very late-90s WCW in a bad way. Ricky Starks having a competitive match against some generic dude with no build-up. Stop the open challenges if they're not going to advance angles and feature under-utilized talent. The Luchasaurus un-turn. WTF, so soon, just when things were getting mildly interesting. Looking forward to Dante-Moriarty on Friday.
  23. I misphrased when I said "merger", I think the Pac is dead and the Big 12 is angling to bring on at least 4 scraps.
  24. I’m late but I finally caught up with last week. I found the Shota-PAC match to be plodding and boring. Even when they got to the heat at the end, just couldn’t care. I did like Dante-Comoroto, but it wasn’t as good as Dante-Drake. Enjoyed the Willow match too. Last thought, they really should have added some crowd noise, that studio audience was so dead it detracted from the action.
