  1. I think I like the idea of it becoming a mentality that is spreading outside of the faction, rather than becoming a huge faction.
  2. My two cents, as someone who has never paid for an autograph: It should always be the signer/celebrity's option and comfort level, regardless of pandemic. I got to meet Simon Pegg years back at a book reading and signing (actually was able to meet him beforehand privately as my friends worked at the bookstore). I didn't ask for a photo, but he offered to pose with us and did the arms on lower backs pose. Likewise with Springsteen, the books were pre-signed but there was a 30-second photo op so I stood next to him and when he did the lower back arm I did the same. I've never bothered a celebrity at an airport or a bar, although in retrospect I wish I had yelled some choice words at Ted Cruz at DFW.
  3. Japan is the country that originated the term "otaku" to mean an obsessive fan (with a subtext of being a social misfit/outcast with no social/hygiene skills), and the US is the country where anime fans decided to embrace the term as a compliment.
  4. So Regal is JJ Dillon, Yuta is Tully, and Bryan is the straight-edge vegan alternate universe Flair?
  5. Probably 20 years ago there was a March Madness in the music folder for best MC of all time and the final 2 were Rakim and Ghostface. For southern rap, give me Bun B.
  6. Now that you say it, I definitely remember hearing that chant (and agreeing).
  7. I didn’t tape it, but I did get home from a party in time for the west coast feed (and recorded that as well). Really enjoyed it all, in different ways. I like that we got to see Wardlow sell a little and be hurt, I don’t want another Goldberg/Cargill. Not to mention it was 3 on 1 and he still got a convincing win. The pop for the eventual power bomb on Satnam is going to be massive. I saw some of what people say about Rosa moving slower, but I thought it was a good, stiff match with only a few minor hitches. I wanted Hayter to get the surprise win, and I think the course of the match made it so the crowd would’ve been good with it as well. But here’s the thing: we can gripe about Rosa being stale and out of sorts (she’s got a lot of tape on her lower back and side mostly hidden by her tights), but she gets a bigger reaction from the crowd than just about anyone in the division, especially kids, and sell merch. It’s still a business, and she does business. Also, Britt Baker calling her out for sandbagging is rich considering Baker mopes and drags her feet when she’s going to lose a match. The end of that match sets up some possibilities: Hayter arguably kicked out at 2.999. Hayter was distracted by Baker getting involved outside the ring. And then the main. MOTYC candidate. Crowd was super hot for both guys and they fed off that. I was chanting “fight forever” on the couch and gave them a standing O. I’m gonna miss Lard Lad, and while I think he’s going to be happy to be home for a while I’m pretty sure he’ll be looking for a long-term work visa. I’ve said it many times, as has @The Natural, but how in the hell was Cesario not a multiple time world champion in WWE? Looks, talent, build, maybe not the best talker but he has a natural charisma. Would be really neat if Soup’s last AEW match was against Danielson, after which he becomes the leader of BCC Japan.
  8. I would actually buy me if it weren’t probably $300 as a “vintage” tee.
  9. I thought she hit her head really hard on the mat, like it bounced hard. Not sure what part of Rosa hit her in the nose to break it, looked three times and didn’t see any contact. apparently it was her knee, guess I was focused on an elbow.
  10. This is true, but it was Tony K’s decision to run the trios now instead of waiting until the next PPV window.
  11. Had the cassingle of this: and used to have the 12” of this, which I like better (but not the polka-delic era):
  12. I’m watching Okada-Jeff Cobb from G1 and if they do another Forbidden Door I’d really like to see Wardlow-Cobb. Super athletic hoss fight.
  13. Ive only ever owned one wrestling shirt, a Monday Night Jericho from the glory days of WCW. But I might soon be owning two.
  14. If I haven’t said this before, Thunder Rosa needs to take Soup to this restaurant in San Antonio that makes 3.5 pound cinnamon rolls. It was on Man vs Food. I just looked and while the original restaurant closed there is a bakery (owned by the son of the restaurant owner) that makes them.
  15. Muhammad Ali throws his Olympic gold medal into a river after being denied service at a restaurant, angry about winning a medal for a company that treats him like a second class citizen. Wrestling promoters “what if we did that but for a white dude who is mad that he’s not being properly celebrated?”
  16. His high knee against Nemeth was brutal. And agree that might be his best blue Thunder bomb. But my favorite move is still his explosive shoulder tackle, he launches like Lester Hayes hunting heads.
  17. Y’all, Mance opened up Mox’s never-healing cut hardway before the .3 Muta bladejob. That was a fun fight, and I also get the sense that was to set up Mox losing to Jericho (and hopefully leading to Eddie’s big win at Grand Slam). Lard Lad! Guess they realized that they needed to give him a TV win, even though he’s looked so amazing in losing the big matches. We get Pretty Peter on TV! I don’t think there’s any question Claudio-Takeshita will be MOTN tomorrow. After the super hot, super good tag match on Wednesday, the Rayne-Gray match was...not so good and was very close to losing the crowd. Rayne’s finisher looked pretty good though. Street fight kind of dragged early on, didn’t really pick up for me until that Swerve 450 onto the stack. Like Woods and Nese are fine but just so bland. The protein powder felt very WWE in a not good way, and the fact that Nese no-sold it while Lee acted like he’d been hit with three kinds of mist and a sack of salt didn’t help. I do like Sterling as neo-Heenan. The big table spot was fine. Again, this just felt like a waste of a “street fight” and didn’t really do anything to make Lee and Swerve look like champions.
  18. OK, disembodied Goldberg mask is more terrifying than the Nash head lamp.
  19. OK, I made time to watch Emi-Shida and that was a fun 7 minute match and goddamn do I love watching Emi. She's so great at everything, and her evil cackle slays me.
  20. Also, Bob Mould worked for WCW when Flair was there so we've come roundabout!
  21. My first exposure to Husker Du was on the Blasting Concept 2 SST sampler, which is when the label shifted from Black Flag to a bunch of weird or boring bands who were friends with Ginn. I also was very much a 16/17-year old kid whose idea of hardcore was skewed towards NYHC and early 7 Seconds. I was not open to very fast melodic punk, and I kind of wrote them off even as I got into pop punk and melodic hardcore; I also wasn't a huge Sugar fan when they were out although I did see them play and it was one of the 3 loudest shows I've ever seen (Dino. Jr/MBV, Mission of Burma). Anyway, I now have just about everything, although Flip Your Wig is my favorite. And I've seen Bob Mould play "solo" like half a dozen times now and cry every time he plays "If I Can't Change Your Mind" and lose my shit when he does "Hate Paper Doll". And thanks to this thread, I just learned that he's playing in Austin next month and I bought a ticket!
  22. I had the youth novel adaptation of that movie that I got from Scholastic book fair.
  23. I was thinking having her upset Rosa at BotB3 would be a slightly shocking but very smart move. Lead to some tension with Britt, still have Storm and Rosa chasing the belt.
  24. I thought he was doing pretty good until then, too.
  25. I seriously wonder sometimes if I’m watching the same show as some people.
