  1. I've decided not to vote since I don't have time to watch most of these and none of the AEW matches this week were clear runaway winners (my faves were Dax-Lethal and Shida&Blue-Emi&Itoh)
  2. welcome to the Casey Thompson experience. There's a reason UT let him walk.
  3. And while having the rotating crews and the loosey-goosey announcing teams can be fun, a lot of what you're talking about does get lost when the announcers are more focused on making jokes or singing. Having Tony Schiavone doing some in-ring interviews on Dark/DE has helped. Side note: I was so bummed that Emi wasn't at the Austin show in March.

    LIVE MUSIC 2022

I've seen Ice Cube live a couple of times, he's very good live. Quite jealous of your Zombies experience, they've played Austin a couple of times but it's always during SXSW.
  5. A different kind of Easter egg: I mentioned that the show was supposed to be like if Ally McBeal was a superhero, and a couple of minutes later Ally McBeal is on the tv in the bar.
  6. Hayter is already overdue for a belt and for getting away from Britt. She’s way too good to just be her muscle. Storm is the other choice, as long as it leads to the Britt-Hayter breakup. Shida I guess could work as a placeholder, nothing against her but she hasn’t done shit in AEW in 2022. Fuck Britt Baker.
  7. Second episode was short but fun, we noticed the Wolverine Easter egg on the laptop while rewinding so I could show my wife that Jen’s phone background is America’s Ass.
  8. There are a lot of little hints and seeds being planted setting up a large-scale AEW “originals” vs. NXT/WWE guys. Even the Acclaimed/SioG (thanks @Gordlowfor reminding me of their proper name) set-up included a mention of that. It’s going to be a slow build since I think they’re still trying to get a stand-alone ROH set up and they have a lot of injuries to heal (Bucks/Omega versus Cole/ReDragon being one of the top rivalries in that angle, for example, plus whatever is going on with Punk). So maybe trying to salvage a Horsemen Babies tag team is part of that originals angle, or destined for ROH.
  9. “And if you take issue with the arguments that we have presented during this discourse, allow me to offer you this short suggestion, and that is to apply suction to a certain portion of my nether regions.”
  10. You definitely made me better appreciate the wrestling and the in-match stories on this show, so thank you for that.
  11. That crowd was dead after the Wardlow match. Could’ve heard a pin drop after the Hobbs squash during and after the Factory video. And then they might have been even deader for the Anna JAS interference. And you know what, they were right both times. Really, just a weird night, about the only thing done right was the Wardlow squash. HoB losing the first round of a tournament they should be winning or at least in the final, in order to be YET ANOTHER trios match on the PPV. Hobbs having an impressive squash and then having any buzz killed by QT and the job squad. Jade/Athena finally thrown together in a backstage promo. The interference in the mixed tag that killed the crowd again, and the refusal to let Ortiz or Ruby finally have a fucking moment of glory. The excellent Dustin/Claudio main killed by a screwy ending for no particular reason. I was excited for tonight and brutally let down.
  12. Jade Cargill has made it her whole promo.
  13. watch Attack the Block and get her to switch to “Fam”
  14. If you couldn’t tell by my flurry of late responses, I just got to watch this afternoon, and mostly avoided spoilers (other than Rosa). That opening segment was how to open a show with talk/angle-building instead of a match. Agree with everything said about Garcia as an actor and really selling the “insecure jock asshole” character. He’s always reminded me in a weird way of Mark Wahlberg, and even more so now. Lethal-Dax was awesome, incredibly hard hitting, a little bit of a surprise at the end followed by a huge surprise after. I like Rosa, she’s been off lately and I’ve said for weeks I think she’s working hurt. Maybe she’s also a little mad about having to lose, but Baker is hardly the person to call her out on that, or on being unprofessional in the ring, and that shitty cheap shot about working hurt. Storm should get the title and Hayter-Baker should have a falling out. Baker-King was fine, I’d like to see more of KiLynn and less of Britt. The Father-Son match was a great angle in a very pedestrian match. I feel very correctly called out for shitting on NAO while praising The Acclaimed catchphrases. Difference is Acclaimed are likable and are good to excellent workers. Really looking forward to SitG/Acclaimed. Mox-Punk was a shocker, in a good way. The main was over-the-top in a way that I mostly enjoyed, with my quibbles about Davis’s weak strikes, Penta spamming as always, and the overbooking of the end (and a couple of the spots being a little too much). PAC is so fucking good. Ospreay is so good at being a prick who is incredibly athletic and mostly very smooth with his moves. Rey Fenix deserves a singles title for flippy dudes. Aussie Open are a WiP although they do bump really well for tall dudes. Penta gets on my last nerve. Looking forward to tonight!
  15. Billy Gunn is still terrible other than his punches and his somersault sell, but his role in this angle has been great and helped get a lot of people over.
  16. Yeah, although that one time ended with Ospreay getting the knees up so I’ll give them that. I also will say that Penta and Ospreay were competing for the “even by lucha standards, that’s a goofy ridiculous oversell” prize.
  17. Tony is trying to make the YouTube shows more meaningful by cross-running angles and giving people win streaks on them for the TV shows.
  18. Yeah, my only minor complaints were Britt’s cheap shot at Rosa then botching like 3 moves, the main event ending, and the big Aussie guy’s pathetic forearm and elbow strikes.
  19. Mentioning great dropkicks and leaving the Rock and Roll Express off your initial list should be grounds for a board timeout.
  20. To go into more detail, beyond "JLowe truly hated the damned New Age Outlaws and especially that entrance". First, there's no reason for AEW to pay tribute to the WWE Attitude Era beyond the Bret Hart in-ring stuff. It goes against the house style. Second, The Acclaimed were already getting way over without Billy Gunn, it might be argued that it was the Acclaimed who got Gunn Club over. Yes, "scissor me Daddy Ass" is funny but in the long run they don't really need Billy Gunn, especially if they are going to be a face team. Third, The Acclaimed already have their signature entrance. If Max wanted to work the line "Oh you didn't know" into one of his raps, sure, that would fit his mischievous diss rap style. But adding one of the corniest dudes from the corny ass Attitude era would be a huge anchor. That said, if you really want to do a one-off (and I personally really really don't), you have Road Dogg come out with the Ass Boys at the PPV and do the entrance with them.
  21. I didn’t even get the pun the first 2 times I saw it.
  22. Knowing nothing about the character, the comics, etc., I liked it although some of the CGI is a little off (but since it's mostly a comedy it's not a huge deal). Definitely a different tone. Having Smart Hulk probably gave it some comfort notes too.
