  1. For a lot of people, at least based on Reactions on the Internet, it's bringing in a known sex pest at a time when a lot of the hardcore fans are losing faith and interest in the programs.
  2. don't you have to exit a rebuild before you can enter one?
  3. Had All-In 2024 actually been announced already? I thought that was the big announcement. I saw someone on Facebook said that with Edge and Wight AEW is starting to feel really old and I don't disagree.
  4. The only wrestling he looks like he should be doing is in a video game.
  5. Man, the opener was fantastic wrestling and the main was fantastic storytelling and the rest was fine to bad. Like the trios match was just terrible and accomplished almost nothing. The Jericho-Omega tag match was not good and I’m starting to agree with people who say it’s dragging down everyone but Callis and Jericho. The women’s match was ok, post-match was weird and awkward and people didn’t seem to like it. I guess the fans finally got to see Edge spear Christian and advance that angle some. The episode-long saga of MJF and the Acclaimed was good stuff though! I missed the rap (will have to catch on replay although it was apparently so censored it was hard to get) but I loved the entrance with the pink scarf. Also, the announcers were really clowning on JR which was awesome. I guess some was also shots at Cornette? Rampage is definitely not something demanding I watch “live” Friday night.
  6. A lot of people on Bluesky were like “Paul looks to be in great shape” and all I could think was “from the ribs up maybe, his legs look like broken toothpicks and his body is slightly crooked at the waist”. I just don’t know why he or they feel a need to him to wrestle again, even in a protected street fight.
  7. AEW: home to a group of exciting young luchadores. And also Penta.
  8. Let me tell you how awesome it was that the only Jericho appearance at the Philly show was a (presumably pre-taped) backstage appearance.
  9. I do agree with all of this. Time limit draw would have been the way to go, then you can do another iron man. But I guess once they started the angle of the "longest belt holder" they had to have the match, and something somewhat conclusive.
  10. Lots of good wrestling on Collision. That MJF-Omega match was wild! I remember back when MJF would wrestle maybe every 6 weeks and I really didn’t even know if he was a good wrestler or just an obnoxious talker. Now he’s wrestling on the regular and showing he’s one of the best in the ring and expanded his character work enormously. So I fully own up to that. Can’t believe Danielson was legit injured that badly. Somehow I don’t think Claudio is going to get to best either OC or Okada.
  11. I’ve been out, did Rampage not already show? I loved the Takeshita-Fletcher match (it was filmed first but maybe main event?), the finishing stretch really got the crowd rocking in particular. The Callis situation is interesting because no one actually wants to boo Takeshita when he’s wrestling someone that’s not like a Kenny Omega where he’s doing extra heel stuff. And we’re also mostly forming our opinions on Kyle Fletcher as a singles guy in AEW. I can say that if it didn’t come through, the crowd was very much wanting Fletcher to tell Callis to fuck off. The four-way women’s match was more interesting to me for the Skye-Willow interactions and angle than the Abadon and Anna Jay stuff. I get why people like Abadon in theory but now that they aren’t running the full “zombie” biting scary thing, it doesn’t really work. 2023 Abadon is a mid-tier wrestler. They’re not bad, but the scary thing doesn’t really cut it when they’re just doing straight up wrestling. Anyway, Skye and Willow had some good exchanges and I’m looking forward to what they might do there. Santana-Ortiz had a few moments where it felt like a legit fight and then the rest was a decent but nothing special brawl. They’re trying very hard to make this kayfabe personal feud make sense to the viewers but I don’t think it’s really working because it feels very fake. This is all I remember from the live show. I don’t think there was a 4th match?
  12. The shitty nu-metal and hard rock dominating WWE (and to a lesser extent wrestling in general) in that era was one of the reasons I stopped watching.
  13. I think Ethan Page could grow the moustache and play an equally delusional Errol Flynn type. What would be great eventually is to have her husband suddenly appear in full deranged muppet character.
  14. Ominous isn't the right word for it, sorry if I got hopes up! Just another fun dimension to the character and her relation to the wider women's division. Like I said, live the Swerve home invasion angle was largely just seen as funny because of everyone wanting them to Rick James the couch.
  15. The cards are a hell of a lot better live in the arena too. Oh, there will be another level to the Timeless Toni (and Luther) character on Friday.
  16. The live crowd was going crazy for the opening sequence starting with the MJF-Juice match to the Kenny Omega appearance. I haven't watched the televised show but everyone was loudly cheering for MJF to accept The Acclaimed's help and booed when he turned them down. Then the backstage Joe segment got another huge pop from the crowd. It's unique and it's working. So many different motivations, not being sure who you can trust, some touches of "my enemy's enemy is my friend". It's like a common battle royale storyline arc extended into full-blown angles for the World Title program.
  17. You ain't kidding about El Paso! Driving wise, it's about the same distance from El Paso to Los Angeles as it is El Paso to the closest point on the eastern border of Texas.
  18. I did, it was overall a good to great night of wrestling, my wife got into it for the most part, and there were a lot of hilarious people around me. Full write-up coming later today after I'm off the clock
  19. I can assure you that a lot of the crowd was yelling "fuck yo couch" and hoping it would happen.
  20. It's a $29.95 "cubic zarconium" he got from TJ Maxx!
  21. You know, MJF has said several times that when he wrestles Juice it will be a bloodbath. And this is Philly, home of hardcore. I’m expecting some glorious pro wrestling violence.
  22. Having not finished Rez Dogs and only read the KotFM book, I think you'll more likely come away making connections to generational trauma. In my work, we sometimes do projects in Oklahoma and the Osage Tribal Historic Preservation Office is one of the most demanding, to the point where they've basically set the standard for archaeological survey work in a state that didn't really have anything official. After reading KotFM, I not only no longer felt frustrated by it but honestly feel like they're being somewhat reasonable.
