  1. Michigan playing a team with a pulse! UT on the road to Fort Worth and TCU. Quinn Ewers announced as starter. Almost everyone back from injury (but still dinged up). TCU was massively overrated early and still aren't very good, but every game is a trap game for UT at this point.
  2. Anyway, I loved the actual show (and I am in the group that didn't think last week was that bad). MJF-Garcia kicked ass and I hope they have many rematches over the years. MJF seems to be busting out a new move every match now. The cradle DDT thing he's been doing is NASTY. I still wish Danny had joined BCC. Darby and STIIIIING vs The Outrunners was obviously going to be a squash but I'm glad Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum got to stooge it up for a bit. Best jobber team in the world. Still loving the Timeless Toni Storm character. Hick-Ah-Roo! Swerve-Penta started out pissing me off because it was 80% Swerve basing and selling for Penta and 20% mirror spots, but then during picture it got more even and Swerve took over after the break and things got crazy! I legit thought Swerve snapped Penta's elbow (and I was not rooting for that!). The aftermath with Hanger has me hoping for a good bloody street fight. The Golden Jets-Bucks thing made me laugh since Bucks got roasted hard. Match will be fun, and I guess it's a way for them to break up the Jets. Joe vs. Keith Lee made me think of Dean and the board's love of Big Meaty Men Slapping Meat. It was fun with Lee being in with someone his size, because it made his athleticism and power really stand out. I wondered if Joe would be able to pull off a muscle-buster, I maybe got my answer in the form of that nasty rear naked choke. Not a huge fan of vacating the title like that, but I guess we get a tournament. Serious OC is a little weird to me, but I love the idea that he finally cares about something (besides his Best Friends). Gunns squash...they were competing with MJF for the rotisserie chicken spray tan of the night. Not one of Mox's better promos but always down for some glorious pro wrestling violence. I guess it's too early for another Parking Lot Brawl. It's nice to see Red Velvet back, both in ring and to see her in general. Julia held her own, she really has come along. The splits and call back to the cheerleader days was a nice touch. Still not sure where they're going with the Stat-Willow-Skye-Julia storyline, but it's had good matches! I thought Mariah May was a rebooted Harley Cameron at first, she looks kind of like a cross between Harley and Toni Storm. I'm down with the obsessive fan storyline (and I guess I need to watch Sunset Boulevard and All About Eve now). Main event was MOTN even with that hot opener. Super competitive, lots of hard strikes and kicks, lots of MOVEZ, lots of character work. Many NASTY suplay in this match. Hoping the Devil storyline gets resolved soon. I'm still calling AADAAAMMM, with Strong, Kingdom, and a returning Kyle O'Reilly. Rampage looks to be a fun little show.
  3. My memory is that it was Colt 45. Maybe OE.
  4. Agreed, Kelly has definitely improved. They're still doing a lot of tinkering with the format, it's still distinct from Dynamite but not quite as much of a WWE feel now. Didn't realize that Riccaboni only did spot announcing (and presumably ROH voiceover commentary) because of family. Allentown is a pretty area, I guess.
  5. IMO Jack Perry as the Devil would be a monstrous let-down that would destroy the hottest angle they have going. On-screen, last we saw him was losing to Hook at Zero Hour All-In. And enough people also know that he got his ass beat by CM Punk afterwards and suspended from the company.
  6. So, combine Cole pushing Joe as the tag partner, knowing that it comes with a title match stipulation, with Cole as The Devil and his guys (Kingdom, Strong, Kyle O'Reilly) taking out The Acclaimed to make it so MJF has to accept Joe's help. Still doesn't make the title vacating make any sense, but it does tie together some angles.
  7. Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid stadium tour tickets START at $79 here in Philly, with fees it's $107/each for the cheapest tickets. Fuck no.
  8. Yeah, there were two huge games Saturday night too. But still trends are down, which feeds the vicious circle.
  9. I have memories of malt liquor in plastic 2-liter bottles at the grocery store in NYC in the 80s but I can find no evidence online that this actually existed.
  10. Skye has been with Kyle Fletcher for a few months now.
  11. I thought the fact that Bryce was doing so well even with Bill O'Brien as his OC was a sign that his size was irrelevant.
  12. Y'all should consider taking Penix
  13. I get why people were concerned he might be another OSU/Ryan Day system QB
  14. Steve Sarkisian said that Quinn Ewers is currently day-to-day, and started throwing late last week (he had an injured throwing shoulder). I don't think TCU is anywhere close to as good as TCU, even though the game is in Fort Worth, so I'm torn on whether Maalik Murphy could win again or whether UT should rush Quinn back, especially with a big night game at Iowa State the next week.
  15. I think Shida did one in the last couple of weeks
  16. I’m behind and just finished Rampage. My YouTube TV decided to show me their version instead of the DVR, which meant I didn’t get to see any PiP action. Lucha match was fun with some wild high spots, even if the outcome was never in doubt. Next year Dia de Los Muertos is on a Saturday, maybe they can book a special lucha special as part of Collision, or request an extra hour from TBS/TNT for it. Have a true lucha rules 2/3 falls trios match and an apuestas (hair vs. belt or hair vs. hair, no needless unmasking like WCW). Sydal and Daniels are a good veteran hands gatekeeper team. I don’t watch ROH but I think they’re regulars there, right? It gets confusing what with the main belts other than the women’s belt being held by AEW regulars and mostly defended on AEW tv (and I wish we could see more Athena title matches on AEW tv). Being part of BCG has been huge for The Gunns. Skye-Shafir was easily the best Shafir match ever. Like most of her matches, some awkward throws that make things seem more like a shoot. I also noticed she takes a lot of bumps judo style, rolling through instead of flat backed. Anyway, Skye was stiff, through in some new stuff, and I always like to see a shotgun dropkick. I think I like the idea that the most brought out her aggressive side without having her go full spooky *****. Main was two of the top 15 or so wrestlers in AEW just going at it and I loved it! My only quibble is that the house-style forearm exchange felt out of place in the flow of the match. Garcia calling out MJF, huh? Interesting. I also liked how he used the dance set-up as bait to lure Trent in.
  17. Are they just being intentionally obtuse for clicks? It’s a classic wrestling trope/story arc (which we know MJF loves) that those guys have seen 1000 times in their lives. Not to mention that his issue with The Acclaimed was Caster’s obsession, not whether he could actually trust them or not. They were the only team who genuinely wanted to help him with no strings, and in the end, he went with the team that has the one person other than Adam Cole who likes MJF.
  18. Is he a "free speech means freedom to discriminate" libertarian or an "age of consent laws are tyranny" libertarian?
  19. I was reminded that, as the late great DEAN~! would always point out, Billy has one of the best worked punches in wrestling.
  20. I agree with some/most of this, but losing Dark/Elevation made it harder for them to shine someone's won-loss record up with a bunch of YouTube matches. I did kind of like Wade Keller's idea of a tournament where you can't participate if you've already held the world title or had a title shot. A G1 would be pretty awesome too and could maybe culminate in an International Title shot (although to be honest the open challenge aspect and weekly defenses aspect was part of what made OC's run so amazing). The Internet (tm) wants more women's matches, and I think having women's tag title belts is long overdue. Have a tournament, and then commit to having two women's matches on a show (let's just say Rampage because I don't think they'll ever do that on the "main" shows) with one of them being a tag match, and have the belts be defended at least once a month.
  21. For a lot of people, at least based on Reactions on the Internet, it's bringing in a known sex pest at a time when a lot of the hardcore fans are losing faith and interest in the programs.
  22. don't you have to exit a rebuild before you can enter one?
  23. Had All-In 2024 actually been announced already? I thought that was the big announcement. I saw someone on Facebook said that with Edge and Wight AEW is starting to feel really old and I don't disagree.
  24. The only wrestling he looks like he should be doing is in a video game.
  25. Man, the opener was fantastic wrestling and the main was fantastic storytelling and the rest was fine to bad. Like the trios match was just terrible and accomplished almost nothing. The Jericho-Omega tag match was not good and I’m starting to agree with people who say it’s dragging down everyone but Callis and Jericho. The women’s match was ok, post-match was weird and awkward and people didn’t seem to like it. I guess the fans finally got to see Edge spear Christian and advance that angle some. The episode-long saga of MJF and the Acclaimed was good stuff though! I missed the rap (will have to catch on replay although it was apparently so censored it was hard to get) but I loved the entrance with the pink scarf. Also, the announcers were really clowning on JR which was awesome. I guess some was also shots at Cornette? Rampage is definitely not something demanding I watch “live” Friday night.
