I wasn't paying super close attention but it didn't sound like the match is to unify the belts. Just that the winner will get the other set. I'm alllllll in favor of them merging the titles. But I just don't see it. TK seems like he likes having 1,000 belts around. Plus ROH just debuted that new design.

Yes, it's being billed as "Winner Take All" and not "Unification" because Tony gets a tax write off for the more belts he has out there.

Man, Jon Moxley is so fucking great. I don't know if anyone has benefited more from AEW than him.

100%.   And yet, when "Sierra... Hotel.... "  played, I was convinced for .1 seconds that Hunter had pulled off the coup of a lifetime and somehow called Dean Ambrose home.

  3. Philly get New York

    Miami hosts Chicago

    Atlanta gets the boot

Tyler Herro tried his damnedest to get it done, but the Heat came up *just short*.  You could hear Philly's butts unclench when the clock finally hit 0.0.  😞

  4. Miami picked up the options for Jaylen Waddle and Jaelen Phillips for next season.

Waddle's may convert to a regular contract extension soon, per reports.

Also, to quash that little rumor, the Dolphins have no plans to take a QB in the first round.  Negotiations with Tua are ongoing.

  5. MON DIEU!   La WWE arrive en France!

C'est la merde?  Une façon de le savoir!

    LA PROGAMMATION~!

POUR LE CHAMPIONNAT INCONTESTÉ - Le Chauchemar Américain Cody Rhodes (c)  contre Les Phénoménal AJ Styles OU LA Chevalier

POUR LE CHAMPIONNAT DU MOND - Damien Prêtre (c) contre Événement Principal Jey Uso

  6. Since Hunter took over ... damn almost 20 months ago now...   is Rhea the first truly story altering major injury he's had to deal with?  Cause I can't imagine she was going to lose the title to Liv almost immediately after her triumphant Mania match. Now I can't see anyone else winning it, barring someone huge returning.

Also, supposedly Becky hasn't signed her extension.  Which makes me think that Mania match could have been a soft farewell while she goes to AEW or Japan for a while for a *much* needed freshening up.  But then again, she may just re-sign now that Rhea's sidelined for however long.

(Rhea and Dom do a Sorkin walk-and-talk to set up him versus Andrade before the attack) and then Dom reappears and tells the camera to get out of here, and it goes to an extended crowd shot. It’s so well blocked that they had to have rehearsed it a bunch of times and probably kept it pretty safe for Rhea.

I think this is at the key to the production changes.  Vince/Dunn hit gold when they, I guess, watched Natural Born Killers, and thought that's how they should present their product from then on.  Zero attention span theater... quick cuts, shaky cam, impact zooms, etc.  And for a long while there, it worked and made them seem very hip and edgy, which is something I'm positive Vince obsessed about (wanting very much to get past the era of smoke filled VFW Halls).  The latest example of which is the AR stuff that no one asked for.

TV has evolved so much since then, that the new minds Levesque brought in have clearly been wanting to change how the whole thing feels for a while now.  The long, sweeping shots.  The return of steady cam.  The very recent dumping of the AR stuff too.  Along with the change of booking, it's made the product feel completely renewed in a way that's different from where it was AND feel different from what AEW is doing.

They want you to feel that WWE is the big leagues, and they can pour money into things like 8K cameras (see Bayley's entrance on Friday) to make themselves seem cinematic and much less dated than even a year ago.

Never again is what you swore... the time before...

Also... this is going to be a thing.  QR code during the tag match.  Puzzles on the web. etc.

The Twitterati think it's Alexa Bliss.  But the symbol they showed was a indicating a duo as it was the symbol for noted binary planetoid Pluto & Charon.

(Unless it's something like Alexa and Nikki Cross, but... eh.)

Everything from when Jey handed the baton off to the credits running with Chad wrecking Sami’s ankle in front of his wife was as perfect as professional wrestling gets. The aforementioned entrance to a banger of a match to Gable snapping. You really don’t get moments like that too often.

While the trope of an outside attack will probably never die, I'd like to point out what an incredibly pleasant surprise it was for Jey to find Sami outside.  I was 100% convinced he was going to walk out to a thumb to the throat and a Tama Tonga beatdown.

And as Gregg put it, there's definitely a few boys and girls in the crowd that will love this thing forever.  Hell, I fully expect 10-15 years from now hearing some new wrestler say how they were there when Sami came through the crowd.

    Triple H Forever!

  10. We're officially 100 days away from Paris.

The biggest issue right now is the organizers are going to need to figure out something for the Triathalon.

Original plan was to do the swimming portion in the Seine.  However, as anyone who has ever been to Paris probably could have told you...   clean up isn't going well and the locals are getting really pissed about it. As it is right now the river is NOT fit for swimming.

Unclear how they'd modify it if the river isn't ready for July.
