Thinking at work - does the Impact/TNA title have the best lineage of any long-term "world" title currently around in the US?

The Universal title is new, the WWE title has non-wrestlers like Vince and midcarders like Jinder and Bray muddying it up. The ROH title fell off a cliff.

Also, Impact/TNA has a lot of overlap with all the other world titles because they either had legends like Foley, Sting and Angle win it or had guys on the come-up like AJ, Joe etc. win it early.

So, yeah, is Tessa Blanchard currently holding the title with the best lineage?

If your gonna merge Impact and TNA then you can merge the Universal and whatever it replaced(big gold?).

Paul Heyman is no longer the creative genius everyone thought he was

It’s nice to see people blaming someone besides Vince for the bad booking even if you know this show has writers and not just Paul. Forget the fact Vince has final say on everything.

Reminds me of everyone blaming Bischoff for Smackdown then it turns out he was quickly downgraded to a consultant because they couldn’t put any of his stuff on TV. Which either means his ideas were even more illogical then the current ones or actually good.

Though I’ll admit blaming Vince for being out of touch is like beating a dead horse at this point.

I know Sami has always spat on people during his matches but the spots where he did it to Tessa made me wonder if it was because of the recent events. Also the match wasn't bad but damn did Sami telegraph everything with the "thumbs up thumbs down" garbage.  3 times at least he did the thumbs down only to be countered. It was overkill.    Wasn't a bad show, have to wonder how long she keeps the tile for though.

You got to take a wrestling break at some point. 18 years of being obsessed has warped your views and caused you to read in to things way too much. Please don’t take this as some sort of attack.

This is why I didn't like the time machine nonsense in Endgame. It makes all this shit convoluted,  sure you can bring characters back comics do it all the time but it's nonsense there too.

That and those dorky ass suits they all had to wear. Crazy how we went from having to put the X-men in all black in the first trilogy to 45 Avengers dressing in white flavored Ant Man suits ?

Hoping the casting for Wolverine isn’t someone as great as Hugh Jackman was so the other characters can get more time to shine in the Marvel version. Also no more Mystique ever again please. We don’t need a naked woman painted blue to get people to go watch comic book movies anymore.

Now I'm trying to remember if Angelico was ever good in LU or if it was just fun to watch him jump from high places.  I found myself thinking "he was good in gimmicky 6 man matches with Son of Havoc and Ivelisse where he could just do some crazy shit and then get out."  Then I found myself wondering who the worker of that group would have been.  M Dogg, I suppose.  But that whole train of thought brought me back to remembering that the show was taped and heavily edited and if they could make Sexy Star look good, then I absolutely can't evaluate anyone's talent based on their time in that promotion.  Yes, my mind is a strange, meandering place.  It got me wondering about who made the most out of being on LU.

    • Pentagon: top of the list.  Breakout star, got over the most from the show and built a career off it.  His brother, Fenix, is just slightly below but almost a tie here.
    • Jeff Cobb: Always feels like he's missing something whenever I watch him.  His PWG title matches were always the anticlimactic part of all the shows he was on, like "after all that, THIS is the main event?"  Definitely broke out due to LU but feels overrated.  Most likely a real beneficiary of a cool gimmick and editing.  Is he still working NJPW?
    • Luchasaurus: got his whole gimmick in LU, now has cult status in AEW.  Pretty far drop off from Lucha Bros to Cobb to him, though.

Is that really about it?  I mean Ricochet would have been huge with or without LU. I guess Rey Horus (Dragon Azteca) got something out of it, as he's a PWG regular but I don't think he's gotten a sniff from WWE or AEW, has he?  I don't even remember Sammy Guevara being in LU.  The rest of the guys like Morrison, Sami Callihan, Wagner, Strickland, Brian Cage, etc etc etc are probably in the same spot they'd be without LU.

Is huge another way of saying signed by WWE?

Cage would still be doing independent shows without LU.

    Haha, are you serious?

Speaking of, am I alone in thinking the Killer Bees looked pretty cool in their Nike hightops? It was unique for the time and was probably a lot more comfortable than boots.

First time I have ever seen Killer Bee’s and cool in the same sentence. Had they come along later I think they would have been remembered as the Red Rooster of tag teams.

As quick as Punk is to fly off the handle over some half ass jab from Miz shows how nonsensical all the “Is Punk returning to wrestle?” was.

That's who is being honored. Lance, Angelo, Randy Brian and the Gilberts have all passed on so they won't be there. I wonder who shows up to represent them. I think Lanny Poffo and Doug Gilbert are locks for their respected dad and brothers, I could see Russells family his kids and if she's still around his wife but whose showing up for Brian? I don't think WWE grants Lawler permission to go cuz he's still under the contract with them. Scott Taylor maybe? But I think he's a trainer at the performance center so he may be out to. Strange to me that Bill Dundee and Jerry Jarrett are not part of the Tribute. Maybe they were afriad of Jamie Dundee possibly getting his hands on a microphone on live tv so they decided not to call Bill.

    Rikishi for Brian?

  8. Have they run out of ethnicities to base sitcoms off of?
I don’t know when it started but before you knew it we had the Goldberg show and an Irish family show and god knows what else.

Also thank you OSJ for explaining Fear the Walking Dead. Always wondered what it was about and whether it tied in to the main show. I tapped out on the original before they made it out of the prison which I was just barely hanging on to after they killed Shane who me and my brother considered to be the only voice of reason on the show.

The most fascinating thing about them hooking up is that he was ready to leave about a year ago. Well , at least that what was reported that he was unhappy and telling his friends they shouldn't sign with WWE. He seems so happy. I love it, he's one of the few guys that I enjoy watching on the main roster.I hope they be so quick to exploit their relationship you see how it hurt Rollins plus I still enjoy he and Zelina as an act.

The source for that rumor was ADR so I never bought it.

  10. When I still had AHC(American Heroes Channel) I remember it started out interesting with WW2 in color and other documentaries but eventually devolved in to the “Hitler Channel” with endless documentaries about him being shown.

I remember Destination America having a show where these hillbillies would go out in to the woods looking for some fictional creature no one had ever heard of and it always wound up with the guys unloading their weapons in the direction of some random noise in the woods or the high drama of someone tripping over a branch and spraining their ankle leaving them vulnerable to the beast, it was hilariously bad. They also use to show UFO shows from the early 90’s with nothing but super blurry footage that you’d seen a thousand times already.
