Current line up for Wednesday (and thoughts!)

    * Hikaru Shida vs. Kris Statlander

This seems to be booking themselves into a corner.  Either Statlander goes 0-3 or they cut Shida off before she peaks.  AEW Women's division is booked by dart board and Kenny should be locked out of the writer's room.

    * Trent vs. Rey Fenix

    * Christopher Daniels vs. Pentagon Jr.

Will the trend where Trent beats the Lucha Brothers continues?  I think its odd to mix that angle with Daniels trying to get revenge because it lessens the Lucha Bros to have them elevate Trent at the same time.  If Christopher Daniels comes out in a disguise as Christopher Daniels only to be unmasked as Don Knotts... I will buy all the SCU T Shirts.  ALL OF THEM.

    * Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela

What?  Why?  DEAR GOD WHY?  I saw this promoted as the main event.  It should be about as long as that match with Nakasawa.  Moxley is one of the big stars on the show and spending time with Janela is such a waste.

    * Dustin Rhodes and The Young Bucks vs. Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz

This is what they should be doing if its me, Inner Circle is the Dangerous Alliance and you mix and match them with the guys they are feuding with.  Hopefully Dustin can corral everyone into a match more than a mess.

Guess they’re just not going to give a shit till the new year. ?

Hikaru Shida is the face the women's division should have been built around from the very beginning, instead of Riho.

Disagree. Shida is good for the time she’s been doing this but no way is she ready to have a division built around her. Offense and timing still needs a lot of work ESPECIALLY that weak ass chair spot outside.

I think the real problem are the dumb ass rankings and the need to pad out and fill people’s records to build up challengers.

I’d rather see Riho defending more often on a whim then these interchangeable forgettable tag matches every week.

I was going to say the same. There's a part of me that doesn't think Darby and Necro would match up well. However, I would lose my shit to see Shane grab a chair for the "sit down and punch each other" segment. Shane's punches would probably tighten up real fast after a few stiff potatoes to the face. God, playing this match out in my head is really a fun thought exercise for the night.

If by some crazy chance Necro had made it to WWE, what type of role would people like to have seen him in? Maybe as a big challenge for Cena? Cena had faced some "unhinged" people before (RKO) but they could bill Necro as the ultimate psycho. A man who truly "Never Gives Up." I think that would be a lot of fun.

Necro would have been another Wyatt family member at best.

I will always remember being there live in the Garden, and the initial reaction of the live crowd being "holy shit, Enzo and Cass are really that stupid" and then when security didnt show up until after two full minutes of worked punches, the crowd then going "holy shit, RING OF HONOR is really that stupid".

I was gonna say the fingerpoke comparison was overreacting a bit till I read your follow up. Ouch.

Cheers, @Zartan. Appreciate that. I really like the two sides to Bray Wyatt's gimmick. The kids presenter of Firefly Funhouse, a Rainbow for those from the UK and as a horror monster in the Fiend. The different presentations of the two characters. I also give credit to Bray resurrecting his career as he has in 2019.

There have been missteps though. The Fiend is a regular now on TV. My fantasy booking in the Hell in a Cell 2019 thread was for the Fiend to win the WWE Universal Championship there and only appear sporadically on TV, a Firefly Funhouse segment every couple of weeks and the Fiend longer than that. Less is more.

I prefer the Fiend's original SummerSlam 2019 entrance to what we've had since Hell in a Cell. I don't like the red lighting in the Fiend's matches post SummerSlam - I can tell you it's a pain in the ass live as it is on TV. I also don't like the Fiend's custom WWE Championship. I can understand why people aren't fans of Bray Wyatt and the gimmicks.

I like the points you make. I do enjoy the funhouse bits I think it’s just The Fiend stuff still hasn’t really caught on with me.

Next thing you know this guy is going to say Cornette didn't say Justin Roberts looked like a pedophile.

    Sounds like someone else here...

It hurts the brain watching people still push this “It’s only because it’s Cornette” bullshit.

Considering how much of the board is being infected by this right now, this may be the most overdue Dumpster Fire thread needed.

Wrestlers to hold a Custom World Title: Steve Austin, John Cena, Edge, The Miz, Daniel Bryan and The Fiend.

And people didn’t like the new IC title...Like this is making me miss the spinner belt ?

I got nothing but love for ya Natural always enjoy your posts and what have you BUT what you see in this gimmick I’ll never know. ??‍♂️

I’m still waiting for Mil Muertes to show up and teach him how to rock pinstripe tights and actually be scarey.

I totally get Jim Cornette now.

Did you shout at your screen during the match- “Kenny Omega could run through Tokyo with a bag of egg rolls on his back and no one would mess with him!”

    Minor critiques about AEW generally:

    - for a promotion that has DDP in an agent role, too many people are doing cutters.  For that matter, too many people are doing the same moves.  If I see a dude doing another running shooting star press, I'm gonna switch.

    - matches are too long.  I don't need a barnburner every damn match.

    - Need more talking so we kinda get where everyone's coming from.  Maybe video promos, but interviews with a Mean Gene type might get us to where we need to be.  Do it on the ramp or in the ring, I don't care.  I don't think they ever explained the Lucha Bros pseudo heel turn.  Until Evil Uno spoke last week recruiting Marko, I don't think I ever got the Dark Order.  Now I do, kinda.  Why are Shawn Spears and Joey Janela feuding?  Why is a Spears a chairman?  Why is Tully with him, when he's a losing bum?  Who the hell is Sammy Guevara and why is he in the Inner Circle?  Why are Proud and Powerful in the Inner Circle?  Who the hell is Kip Sabian?

    - Clear up the Elite and management -- do they book the matches or no?  There should probably be a buffer between them and match making.  They got Arn, DDP and Malenko backstage.  Make them the "booking committee" and in charge of booking matches, but keep them in a Jack Tunney role.

    - Finishers.  Not crazy about a bunch of the finishers, and the finisher's names.  SCU does about twenty double team moves that look better than what they've been using as a finisher.  Moxley's Paradigm Shift is great, but the name is dumb.  What was wrong with Deathrider?  Hangman Page's "Dead Eye" is eye-rolling.  Pac's Brutalizer?

    - I love that AEW is here, and I almost always prefer to watch it live over NXT -- Just has more life to it.  These are minor criticisms.

Are you watching this on 2x or something?
Sammy’s whole deal played out over the first episode not sure how you missed it.
Jericho did an interview on TV explaining how he scouted P&P for the group.

Otherwise I’ll agree on every match not having to be some epic 20+ minute battle. The moves thing I also agree on but I think your just going to have to get use to it at this point.

I think eventually we’ll get more interviews and such but this company knew it was going to be under a microscope and is trying to avoid any misfires or anything for people to jump on so they are not taking as many chances YET.

Oy, this is what happens when I take off work a couple days.  Coming back to reading pages of this discussion just sucks, man.  Heck, it even made Natural curse which aside from FHH doesn't happen often.

But whatever opinion I have on it has been well-covered many times over here so no sense saying much more about it.  Actually, tempting as it may be  I'm just not going to say anything about it at all.

Can we maybe either splinter these posts into a separate topic or at least try and pivot off of it somehow?  Anybody got some cool wrestling stories to share?   No need to end the month like this if we can help it.

I miss the spot where a dude gets up in the corner and just punches the guy ten times while the crowd counts along. Simple yet effective, the last person I remember doing it regularly was Booker T.

Does anyone on the board actually, y'know, like Hulk Hogan? Is anyone here, in 2019, a Hulk Hogan fan? Honest question.

I don’t think he had a ton of fans to begin with and for a lot, the racist stuff was just what they needed to fly their I hate hogan flag at every chance.

Some of these same people still push the whole Heenan never liked Hogan bullshit after being worked on commentary by The Brain their whole lives. ?

Remember when the ACH stuff went down and we all at first were like, "wow, that's fucked up, good on ACH for speaking out because lots of others wouldn't" and then he went off the deep end and really ratcheted things up and then we were like, "there's a right and wrong way to handle this and this isn't the right way anymore?"

Yeah, I think that applies to BJ Whitmer and Joey Mercury now. They went from rightfully attacking ROH to now seemingly going after everyone. And if to make matters worse, renowned shitbird and all around weirdo ghoul rovert is involved.

It's like these people are disinfo agents where you have someone on the inside just start acting crazy to discredit their other work so people won't think it's real. The direction Whitmer and Mercury are taking this now isn't the right one and I don't think they're aware of that.

Wwe had to deal with ACH at some point though.Mercury and Whitmer are done with ROH and the sooner they stop talking about this the sooner it can just go away for ROH so the only option they have is to never shut up about it. ??‍♂️

That isn't what's happened though. It's the bellend behind the bloke CM hits that CM is responding too (because it's actually them that pushes the back of his head). CM hits the wrong person (which is actually worse for the bloke who gets hit).

Nah the dude was punching Punk in the back over and over. Look closer it’s the little bald twat behind the guy that gets hit.

Memory serves me correct he even went on Twitter and bragged about it after the show.

It's probably not the best time to call Cornette the greatest announcer of all time.

Why do I have a feeling that everyone would be less offended if the dumb thing was said by someone they didn't have a pre-existing hatred for?

Funny how wrestling fans, who are the absolute worst when it comes to trolling and calling people names online are so offended nowadays.

Oh fuck off. Is their anything people won’t twist or spin to support their narratives/agendas nowadays?
