  1. First time I saw Adam Bomb in the WWE, I thought there was no way he wouldn't be a huge deal.  Great look, wacky gimmick, huge guy with a power finisher.  When he didn't set the world on fire, I couldn't understand why.

Years later and understanding the business better, I went back to that period and realized that the biggest problem with the Adam Bomb is that it was Bryan Clark with a good gimmick.  And, at the end of the day, Bryan Clark kinda sucked at most things pro wrestlingly.

I don't think I'd call Clark the best worst wrestler, but he's the first guy I thought of when I saw the thread.

  2. Anyone know anything about He-Man 2019?  I hadn't heard of it till now, so, out of curiosity, I googled it.  Only things I was able to learn was that the project has been bouncing around awhile, David Goyer wrote the script (ugh) but dropped out as director (thank you, Jesus), and the current directors, the Nee brothers, have virtually no track record.  Does this thing have a cast attached or anything (i'm assuming it's live action)?

Sounds like expectations should be pretty low.

BTW, anyone else think the new Predator film looks awful?  The trailers have me thinking it may not even be worth a free rental from the library.

  3. I'm mildly interested in seeing where the NWA goes from here since Cody supposedly has an exclusive contract with ROH.  Putting the title on Cody is a smart move in theory, but I wonder if it won't backfire by either keeping the  belt from being on NWA shows (the NWA Hollywood show is still a thing, isn't it?) or making it seem like some minor title in ROH.  Also, who the hell can the NWA conceivably book right now who is a big enough name to credibly take the title off Cody?  I won't blame ROH or New Japan if they strongarm the NWA so Cody doesn't drop a fall to Nick Aldis or Colt.

Lol, remember when we had high hopes for Billy's NWA?  That seems like so long ago. It was last year.  We were all so young and naive.

You're right. I can picture it in my head as I read your description of it. Nothing says corporate like leather chaps and acid washed tights.

I always felt like Morton half-assed the turn.  Dude didn't even bother to tie his hair back.  To paraphrase what you said, nothing says corporate like a dude with a souithern-accent with long blonde hair down to his waist.  Morton's hairstyle was out of control then.  He could at least worn a ponytail if he wasn't going to cut it.

They made Rich's ass look huge.

I don't think it was the chaps so much as i was the fact that Rich's ass was huge at the time.

Basically, those were two guys seriously wrong for their gimmick.

  5. So at some point today, someone's going to post on the board at the exact same time their past self posted "yesterday", August 31st, and the resulting time paradox is going to crash the board, right?

Honestly, DVDVR has been through so many board crashes over the years, I'm kinda surprised a time paradox outage hasn't already happened.  Unless it did and the original timeline was restored when service was restored....

WTF would you get someone reassigned just because they don't want to talk to you?  Jesus, do your job and leave the poor woman alone.

Well, part of my job is being her boss since I'm a partner in the firm.  And I wouldn't consider getting her reassigned because she didn't want to talk to me.  I would consider getting her reassigned if I was concerned we couldn't work together and the client would be the one to suffer.  Which is quite possibly the case.  Just to be clear: I just meant I could have her put on a different project, not exiled her to the firm's dungeon.

Beyond that, she's an employee.  Lol, I get nosy about the personal lives of employees on a pretty regular basis.  It's a small firm and a mostly close-knit group.  Employees who don't fit in don't tend to last long.  I could stop making an effort with her but one of the other partners has a bigger problem with her than I do and seems to think letting her go is the answer.  So my plan is to try to work with her on behalf of our client and try to figure out her deal in the meantime.  Honestly. it's cool if she doesn' t like me.  If that's the case, I'd like to know if I did something to tick her off or what.  But.... my impression is that she has no friends in the office and is at stress level 11 on a scale of 1-10.  She has an office full of great people (my employees) who could be a good support system if she'll let them.

I don't mind you guys calling me out for sounding like a jerk, but, honestly, no one reading this is likely to know enough about me, her, or the situation to fairly judge it.

  7. I have a female co-worker who my wife and I have taken a liking to even though the woman is borderline unfriendly and I feel like a socially awkward teenage when I attempt to have a conversation with her.

So of course I found out today I have to work even more closely with this co-worker for the next several months.  Really not looking forward to this.  I don't dislike the woman - quite the opposite - but she's so tightly wound she makes me jumpy.  Been working with her six months, and I barely get past hello with her.  She has a tendency to either shut down conversations within two sentences or just not respond much to the usual emotional cues.  I feel awkward around her because I feel this weird lack of affect when I talk to her.  Case in point: I took a neighbor the ER a few nights ago and spent the night in the reception area (she was admitted) until her family showed up the next morning (husband was out of time on business, rest of family lives out of state).  Mentioned that to my co-worker and she just said "get some more sleep" and walked off.  I assume she thinks I had to check myself into the ER for something or other, but didn't care to ask what was going on.

Sigh.  I could get off the project or probably get her reassigned.  But.... my wife wants me to figure this out.  We both like the woman, but both think she's so wrapped up in her own..... something (life?  Stress?  Relationship)... that we get nothing from her.  My wife thinks I think that eventually this co-worker gets encouraged to leave because she doesn't fit in or she eventually has some sort of stress-induced.  About two years back, another friend has a stressful workplace situation that culminated in her suffering a minor stroke and losing consciousness in the middle of a meeting.  She was 38 at the time.

Lol, I've never been good at minding my own business when it comes to friends and family, so... my wife is probably right.  I guess I'm going to try to find some way to get through to her.  I have a feeling she's got a shitty life outside of work and not a lot of friends, so the wife seems to think we should "adopt" her.  Lol, what I'm expecting to happen is that her social life will blow up in my face (the one personal detail I've learned about her  is that she's got some sort of on-again, off-again wedding engagement) will explode and I'll get to deal with that.  But....

But, I was too busy to hang out with my friend with the stroke much the 6-12 months before the stroke - or make time to ask her about the new job - and I still feel guilty about that.

  9. God, I hope not.  Cause if you're that old, I'm probably two steps from turning to dust.

Dunno about laptops, but I bought a next desktop PC a few months ago and the models I looked at still came with a cd/dvd burner.  I spend a fair bit of time commuting to and from work and burn podcasts to listen to in my jeep (older model, have MP3 player but no USB support).

I have noticed that stores are generally carrying less in the way of blank CD/DVD-R's, cases, etc., so I assume it's a thing that's on it's way out.

What is the deal with Becky's shoes?  I have no idea what she is wearing or why her shoes have some sort of tassels on them.  Are those supposed to be wings?  Feathers?  When I watched the show, I kept wondering if that was some sort of brand shoe I am unfamiliar with or a custom shoe or what.

  11. It's easy to forget MiSu was so ikemen.  If he had gone to Toryumon, he could have been the next Ital Con member or had his own j-pop dance group stable.

Yes, Demolition were faces for nearly 2 years. That may have been Bill Eadie's only face run as well.

Was One Man Gang ever a babyface? How about Dennis Condrey?

Condrey worked the South as a babyface when he first started out in the early 70's.  His first major heel turn was in 1975.  I don't remember him working babyface after that.  If he did, it was probably on the indy's after his WCW run.  I mean, crap, I saw him in Missouri near the end of his career and he came to the ring and called out a couple guys for a challenge.  Probably would have gotten a decent babyface reaction if all the guys he called out weren't dead.
