  1. Not heard of that collaboration Bink, much appeciated. Pretty cool
  2. Okay, to flip your point that's like saying Genesis was a Phil Collins thing cause he was lead singer and a songwriter... when it wasn't. Read any interview or retrospective about Screaming Trees and you'll see it was definitely a Conner Brothers thing. Hence focusing on Lanegan's solo work where it was undoubtedly his. Looking at Screaming Trees would inform how he grew as an artist no doubt, but so would looking at QOTSA, Soulsavers, Gutter Twins, Isobel Campbell albums...
  3. how soon before they forgive Drew McIntyre and push him again? He was the second coming for the longest time then got dropped like a bad habit
  4. Dude, if I did everything he's been involved in I'd be listening to nothing but him for at least a month. Screaming Trees was never a Lanegan thing, it was all on the Conner brothers, so yes his solo stuff is more pertinent in regards to him evolving as an artist
  5. Yeah, I like their best of but I kinda feel like I've heard everything of note via that so there's no real impetus to check them out in depth :/
  6. What was the storyline of Dibiase leaving the nWo when he was originally brought in as the 'money' behind them?
  7. Hi friends. I run an anecdotal music review blog www.fa-nat-ic.co.uk, check it out if it pleases ya - I'm always on the lookout for other contributors btw, especially looking at having more about live music on the site – proper gonzo journalism style reviews/thoughts/experiences from being at gigs. So if you’re going to any shows – from stadium rock to unknown basement hardcore – and want to give that style a whirl I’d appreciate your input. For more info on the style and concept behind the site check the What's All This About? page With that plug out of the way, I've been doing a little experiment on the site where I review a musicians solo discography to see how they grew and expanded as an artist over time. I'm about 3/4's through reviewing/revisiting Mark Lanegan's solo albums, and I dare say he's my favourite vocalist (or second to Mike Patton). What are your thoughts on the guy? I first discovered him through QOTSA, which led me onto Bubblegum, which led me onto his Soulsavers stuff, then my obsession started. Screaming Trees kinda passed me by outside of their 'best of' so I wasn't really beholden to him via that band, it's always been about his solo stuff and many collaborations for me
  8. Awesome, awesome stuff. I still maintain his entrance at Wrestlemania VIII is one of the best - he literally shows/tell you everything you need to know about the character of The Model in one ring-walk. Plus his music was amazing. Fuck your pyrotechnics, all I need is a spray of arrogance and for a guy to show me the lining of his jacket
  9. My grandad was the only person who had Sky tv so I'd sometimes ask him to tape me films. WWF PPVs would be shown on the Sky Movie's channel waybackwhen so there'd soetimes be a run over - Royal Rumble 91 was the first time that happened, then Wrestlemania VII. It was all downhill after that, he used to have to tape Superstars and Challenge for me every week then I discovered WCW was shown at stupid o'clock on ITV and so that expanded my love
  10. It was pretty widely known that Hall came up with the initial idea for Sting doing Crow facepaint and changing his look etc in the last promo he cut before his vow of silence
  11. Tommy Rich looks like Vince Noir's doppleganger
  12. Watts in WCW was really bad for that company IMO. Completely killed any momentum they'd made in 92, and of course his salary was reliant on how much money he saved the company, essentially taking it from the boys pockets, hence why he fired/low balled so many stars. That and his emphasis on house shows as opposed to TV... despite working for a major network who probably didn't give a shit about house show numbers, just ratings, didn't make sense.
  13. ^That last gif is like something from a horror film. Creeeepy
  14. His selling was so awesome that, as a kid, I was legit disturbed when Nailz put that beating on him on his debut
  15. I'm glad the Husky Harris chants died down fast for Bray Wyatt. That could've ruined what has fast become one of the most refreshing gimmicks in the past decade
  16. Chambers of Horrors was the most exciting match I'd ever seen as a kid. You have to put someone in an electric chair to win? C'moooooon that's awesome
  17. My favourite Dean Ambrose related pic was the autographed pic someone posted on here recently. He'd signed his name over the guy's face... that kinda dickhead-ery is hard to come by. That Sting pic reminds me how exciting his appearances would always be, the only reason I tuned into Nitro at the time tbh. What was the deal with the short partnership with Savage before he went nWo?
  18. Hey guys, I was doing some research into former TNA wrestlers the other day and, prepare to have your mind blown, but did you know relliK is 'Killer' spelt backwards?
  19. If ever there was a man out of time in the wrestling industry it was that guy. He could have made a mint in the territory days
  20. I hear this title bandied around alot but I'm struggling to find a jumping on point or at least a must read collection because, well, it's been going on since 1982! Any help is much appreciated with what to pick up
  21. Kinda unrelated but this thread reminded me of a funny house show story I read on the net once. Bulldog and Owen were tagging and two smarks were giving Davey Boy a load of shit about Diana n stuff, so Davey Boy's reply was to simply point at these two guys, yell "Fuck you!" at them then flex his biceps. Genius
  22. As much as the kid in me want to see Taker/Sting that boat has sailed long ago. The cabin/Johnny Cash vignettes were the last perfect time to get the ball rolling but Sting got cold feet didn't he?
  23. Yeah I guess my post lacks a bit of context - I was 9 when he was making waves in the WWF and in the UK at the time there was no other wrestling on TV and the internet was a non-entity. In the pond of the WWF he was the most exciting thing on the block, but in a wider wrestling context maybe not but that's the magic of youth
