  1. This past weekend (Saturday), I was all excited to work out. I was going to be squatting my heaviest weight ever. Unfortunately, that morning, I threw out my back picking up a t-shirt off of our bed. It put me down for the rest of that day and most of Sunday. Somehow, I felt good enough to give it a shot yesterday. I hit 320 pounds for a nice, deep single squat. Hooray. Now my goal for the near future is to hit the 1000 lb club. I'm shooting for 350 lb squat, 400 lb deadlift and 250 lb bench. I've hit the deadlift and bench in the past. I've just always been behind on squat, but that's finally progressing now. I'll turn 44 in April (hopefully). I'd like to hit it before then. Wish me luck!
  2. Going back a bit.... RE: Working overnights I knew/know a lot of people who have worked overnights in tv (for morning shows) for years. They always have people saying to them, "You must get used to the schedule". The reply I always heard was, "No. You just get used to being tired."
  3. I was really close to Shawn at a house show in like 96 (It was when he was WWF champ and was facing Golddust around the horn) and I was shocked at how small he was. I was pretty small then, too, so it wasn't that I was a big guy or anything. Growing up on 80's WWF, I thought there were way more 400 pounders walking around than there probably are.
  4. I have that artist’s He Man and Skeletor pieces hanging in my son’s room. His stuff is so cool.
  5. I really wanted Boba to encounter a coyote with the voice of Johnny Cash on his trip.
  6. @Contentious C, I'm jealous that you've seen Drive My Car. I've heard great things and am super-excited to see it myself. I'll also second your love for Power of the Dog. Goddamn. Just great in every way.
  7. Every Wednesday, our kitten curls up in my lap for Dynamite. We could be on to something here. AEW could tap into that coveted pet demo.
  8. I don't have anything to add to the praise for Hangman/Dragon. Just great stuff. Even had my 4-year-old riveted. I agree with the folks saying that the rest of the show was a bit "off". They still have a pacing issue with the production of their shows. Too many times, there's a moment, and Excalibur is tossing to the next segment. Jade's post-match was one of these times. They're showing her little girl cheering, etc. and they're quickly on to the next thing. It's really a "feel" thing with that. I think it'll come with time. There's no set, "you need to hang around xx seconds after this or yy seconds after that" formula. You just have to know.
  9. You dumb bastard. It’s not a schooner. It’s a sailboat.
  10. Do watch Summer of Soul! It's so amazing. I just absolutely loved it. It's a concert film done in such an interesting way.
  11. That match is really weird. I haven’t seen it in a while, but I remember it being very oddly paced. It was like an exhibition of all of the Eliminators moves with no transitions or anything else.
  12. Brown is 100% the uncle in this scenario.

  14. I also finally saw The French Dispatch this weekend. I loved it. It's Wes Anderson at his most Wes Anderson-y. I can't decide which segment was my favorite. Benicio Del Toro was great in his part, as was Jeffrey Wright. Anderson pulls a huge (but frustrating for me) flex by bringing in Christof Waltz for like two lines. Everyone is great, even if they have a tiny part. I also got to see The Power of the Dog and loved it, too. It moves very slow, but is shot and acted beautifully and has a great ending.
  15. Weird that they referred to Arnett as "The 30 Rock alum". He was great on there, but I doubt that's what most people know him for.
  16. I finally got around to watching The Sparks Brothers this past weekend. I knew little to nothing about the band going in and absolutely loved it.
  17. I was at the first Hell in a Cell. I was also at Starcade 96 and saw that Mysterio/Liger match live. I was at the ROH show where Danielson faced Tyler Black for the first time and it put Black on the map. Oh, and I saw a Mitch Ryder/Todd Morton match at the second XCW Midwest show that I just loved. I was shooting the match for a news story and they basically worked it for my camera. It was a blast.
  18. I’m wondering if the ending of this was a way to sort of “separate” Spiderman from the MCU? I don’t mean that he totally exists in a different universe now, but like the Avengers won’t come calling if they need help anymore.
  19. Yeah, that and the red light were a dead giveaway.
  20. I just can't get enough of Joe Pera. I watch it and marvel at the fact that something like that is even on my tv. Like, it's too sweet and pure to be out there. I love it so much. I love that it's so slow and thoughtful. I really can't emphasize how good this show makes me feel.
  21. I don't remember it like that. I recall a lot of excitement around here for ROH say pre-2010. I used to religiously read Kris Z's (I think it was Kris') upcoming shows and results reports that were posted every day. I couldn't wait to hear about the results of an ROH show so I'd know whether or not I wanted to order that dvd when it came out.
  22. Why are you even making this thread? Will there even be a show tonight? The ratings are in the toilet and TK spent all his money on Tony Nese. I doubt this even airs.
  23. When I was still shooting news, I covered a wedding at a White Castle. I was super-hungover that day. The manager of the restaurant cave us a Crave Case to take back to the station and share with everyone. I took it and sat in my car and ate the whole thing. I'm decidedly not a fan of White Castle, but it is nice on a hangover.
  24. ? I'm rolling. Great reference.
