Avatar is the Yngwie Malmsteen of movies for me. I can appreciate, and maybe even marvel at, the incredibly high level of technical expertise going on there. But, there's no emotional investment for me. I just can't bring myself to care.

I really liked the first season a lot. My daughter started not liking it. She has a thing about seeing little kids in peril that she just can't handle. I need to talk her back into this show. She's a couple years older now and might like it more.

When Darby/Joe got rolling it hit me that it could basically be Necro/Joe for tv. It didn't get that violent, but close. If you're worried about the bumps Darby takes while wrestling, give him a follow on Instagram. Those bumps are like the 20th most dangerous thing he does over the course of a week.

While FTR is always great in-ring, I do prefer them as heels to the "aw, shucks" faces they've been lately. Plus, aren't great worker tag teams more fun when they're heels?

I'm in that year-end mode of re-listening to albums I enjoyed throughout the year and giving a better listen to ones I missed. Funny that I've caught a couple pro wrestling references in fairly small indie releases. There's a song on MJ Lenderman's excellent Boat Songs, called "TLC Cagematch". Also, the song "See You Better Now" off of Wild Pink's ILYSM (one of my favorites of the year) starts with a line about tracing the WWF logo with a sharpie on the tv screen.
