Elevator to the Gallows (featuring an incredible Miles Davis score)

Ha! I have owned that soundtrack and listened to it a ton and never bothered to 1. see what the title translated to or 2. learn anything about the movie itself.

It's great "late night" jazz, IMO.

  2. I volunteered to help coach my son's flag football team. Well, it was really one of those things where they asked, I said yes, and as the word was coming out of my mouth I instantly regretted it.

Turns out, it's actually really fun! The kids are awesome and, so far, the parents are really nice, too.

We had our first game this past Saturday, and we won! By far the best part, though, was that, after the win, my son ran to me as excited as he's ever been about anything and gave me the biggest hug. Literally tearing up just typing that out.

Oh, and turns out that he's a hell of a football player. Played some QB and scored as a running back. He also blocked really well on another TD and played some strong D. He played every single down on offense and defense. And, yes, while I am coaching, I'm just an assistant and don't make decisions on playing time.

would we wanna know what SGW Uganda would book if MJF showed up there?

EDIT: seriously, Lord White sounds like the name of a Kamala heel manager on an indy because you couldn't suit someone up as a fake Kim Chee

When Kamala was doing territories, was it his responsibility to bring the Kim Chee gear with him everywhere he went?

  4. This morning, I saw a post on Instagram with clips from a British Bulldogs/Gordy and Hanson match. It struck me just how great EVERYTHING Gordy did looked. There's a simple vertical suplex in there that just looks beautiful. I think Gordy is up there with Steamboat and Dustin and Barry Windham as far as guys who just seem like they were born to move around a wrestling ring.

The final song/dance/roller skating number is mind blowing! When I worked at Blockbuster we'd always respond with "Ahhh yes Xanadu, the movie that killed Gene Kelly" even though it have nothing to do with his death, when asked if we had it.

I worked at a local video rental store. Still the best job I've ever had.

After the store was closed, it wasn't unusual for those of us closing up to have a drink or smoke while shutting down. One night, the owner (a pretty eccentric dude) pulls up as we're closing. He drags in this big cooler full of beer. "You guys want this? I've been out on the lake all day and have a bunch left." We're all like, "Uh, we're not 21." He says, "Yeah, I know. I sign your paychecks. I know how old you all are. Do you want it or not?" Got hammered that night on him.

Oh I have but my question is Why? All I've heard is that it was a trend to gift people those things and that's all. I mean, they are a chunk of plastic lined with metal with a lead ball in the bottom, why am I spending $45 for this besides peer pressure and greedy companies raising prices due to demand.

99% of fads could be described like that.

Oh my God. All of this. I still haven’t seen the couple episodes Disney+ didn’t add because of the content in the episode. I should try to seek those out. But yeah, some of those episodes are really heavy. There’s the one with the couple that’s growing apart too, I think it’s one of the Heeler’s brothers or sisters.

Whoa! I had no idea there were Bluey episodes not on there! I need to find them.

My son has entered the Bluey age of entertainment. Bluey is absolutely fantastic. It’s awesome that a show this well-made is so popular. There are so many episodes that make me tear up. The episode about cricket Is the standout for me and generates a lot of allergies.

There’s some heavy shit that sneaks its way into episodes very subtly, too. The one where Chilli’s friend visits and it’s heavily implied that she’s drifted away because she can’t have kids and it’s hard for her to be around the Heelers and see them so happy.

There’s also a moment in the episode where the girls are putting on a show for their parents re-enacting how they met. Bingo is pretending to be pregnant with a balloon under her shirt. The balloon pops and Bandit quickly grabs Chilli’s hand and gives her a sad look. I took that as them having a miscarriage at some point. Tears me up every time.

There’s some lighter, fun subtle stuff too, like the hungover episode. On one of the newer ones where they’re at the pharmacy and the kids are using the video screens to find their friend, the bulldog dad is buying protein powder and takes a hit of breath spray before talking to one of the moms.

  9. Dazed and Confused came out when I was in high school and pretty much captured how we were still living then. In Southern Illinois, trends came a little slower, so not a lot had changed since the late 70’s. Most weekends consisted of driving around trying to see who was maybe up for partying.

Super bad came out post-college for me, but really nailed my high school experience, too. Both it and Dazed really showed that feeling of wandering around trying to figure out what to do/who you are. It didn’t hurt that the scene where Cera’s character accidentally stumbles into the room with some fairly scary dudes doing coke happened to me once when I was first hitting the older kids’ parties. Luckily, I didn’t have to sing for them.

  10. Hey, if a little gatekeeping can weed out the same old tired-ass talking points every week, then let’s keep some gates, baby!

Strong Collision this week. They’re going to be near me next month right outside of Cincinnati. I’m thinking I’m going to need to go on the off chance that Danielson gets another dream match that week.

How much do you get paid to be the CEO of a completely theoretical network that no one actually believes will ever come to fruition? And why do I never get these type of jobs? I can run a make believe network.

AND if you end up being completely terrible at the job, I mean just a complete disaster, and it all fails and tons of people lose their jobs because of your total ineptitude, you still get millions of dollars!

Well, guess I better get ready to see some Flacco this year when Richardson inevitably gets hurt.
