  1. Well it's run by Joey Styles who used to run ECWWrestling.com and well we remember all the photos they used to put up.
  2. I never had Richard Bey in my city, but man those clips were far and away the best parts of Talk Soup! The REAL Talk Soup! Just yesterday I joked on Twitter that it was about time Richard Bey had a day because #BeyDay (for Beyonce's birthday) was trending. Richard Bey was great back in the day especially on a day when you didn't have school. I was too young/wasnt allowed to watch Night Games when it was on to appreciate it.
  3. Vince didn't want to leave. Johnny Ace was the perfect stooge to take over for Vince, but despite Vince being too old to take beatings anymore he was like "DAMN IT, I GOT A FEW MORE IN ME". And now we have COO Triple H. Had they let Johnny Ace be his full corporate douchebag potential, he would be at least in Kane's role right now.
  4. Joe's probably gonna spend 80% of his show on AM 970 here in NYC tomorrow morning on that bit.
  5. I'm sure they still attempted to reach out to him. God I really hope they did. Triple H explaining he's dead and Kevin Dunn being the ultimate suck up probably said "we can work around that".
  6. I bet Vince has never seen Maury and if he has he was like "LOOK DAMN IT, SHES NOT PREGNANT SO WHO CARES". Vince being in a bubble 20 years behind the times explains Springer perfectly. Steve Harvey would have been way more interesting since he does segments on solving problems. Depending on who's side Harvey would have taken would have made it great. "Brie, why you have to treat your sister like that. SHE'S YOUR DAMN SISTER. Be A lady Brie". So I watched RAW tonight after I got home from class and a combo of it being really hot and muggy in my living room and this show being very skipable was not a good combination. Only thing I took away from this show is Rusev vs. Mark Henry will be some fun clubbering to behold. Harper and Rowan should have been the tag team champions so they could be feuding with Star & Goldust. Also I am buying a Bolieve button. That segment was tremendous.
  7. Its not gonna happen, but if Sandow came out in a fat suit as Adrian Sandowis that might be the greatest thing ever.
  8. Would the S&M version of Enter Sandman have worked? Possibly. But instead of smoking Marlbros, he comes out smoking one on an exagerated long rich person filter.
  9. I skipped this show on account I was passed out from the heat getting to me. It's sitting on the dvr so judging from this thread I'll be ff'wding through most of it. So they're really do a maybe Cena can't overcome these odds angle. If this is the best they are doing come football season MNF is gonna kill them for the next four months.
  10. Reguarding The Sandman in WCW, I liked how he was first introduced as Raven's snooty rich neighbor Jim. That whole emo rich kid Raven storyline they did with him and Kanyon for a few weeks (and in typical wcw fashion went nowhere) was so much fun. Waspy rich suburbanite Sandman might be one of the great wrestling missed oppurtunities ever. I mean if he went back to ECW and did a whole "I'm rich" gimmick and traded in Metallica for Symphony music and the beer for Wine there might have been legit riots at ECW shows from the hate he could have gotten.
  11. I know WCW wasted a LOT of money bringing in Buffer for Nitro's. Why was he announcer what looks like a WCW Lowcard battleroyal.
  12. I never liked the idea of this cloud technology. I'm happy being a dinosaur with manually transfering photos off my mini sd card to the computer. Apple is currently at $102.50 a share. I could have sworn it was at a couple hundred a share. Anyway, despite this I don't think it will take big of a hit tomorrow. It might fall, but with the new Iphone 6 coming out it will be right back up.
  13. Exactly. It doesn't matter if he's broken down now with no neck and about 100 pounds overweight. We still remember the Taz who could suplex anyone on their head and choose to believe that he could still do that to anyone at any given time. It's a shame they didn't fully transform Joe into the new Taz when Taz debuted in TNA. Joe becoming the successor to the Taz Dojo and all things FTW would have been great. Around that same time there was a brief staredown between Taz and Homicide during a Cide/Joe match on Impact. For those 15 seconds I wanted to see Taz throw down with Homicide.
  14. I think you all in the last half day have given more thought to all of this than WCW did. Hogan's only interested in putting over Hulk Hogan.Sure the logical thing would have been to build up to a legit Hogan/Goldberg rematch with no bullshit. But even if they did that (say for The Great American Bash in a cage or something), at the last minute Hogan would have used his power and made Goldberg look weak in the process. I mean hell, look at Hogan now. Despite being 61 and brittle as anything he's trying to con his way into a match with Brock Lesnar just so he can get the win back from the match against him on Smackdown. Goldberg was doomed the moment he beat Hogan in the Georgia Dome.
  15. The Simpsons marathon has been great. But man these later episodes are really night and day compared to the earlier ones. The later ones still have its moments, but its really few and far between.
  16. Paul E. Dangerously would have been the prototype villian of the week on Hunter or any other late 80's cop shows.
  17. I gave Sid the finger at a WCW House show at the Meadowlands and he looked in my direction in 91. Scariest moment of my life up to that point.
  18. I watched The Wolf Of Wallstreet the other night. Damn it was really good. Okay yes it could have been maybe 45 minutes less, but aside from that it was a really great dark comedy. I'm thinking Leo should have won the Oscar. I don't think he'll have a better role than this for a while. The only thing that I was sad that didn't happen was when they're on the boat, the FBI agent says "one day I'll take this boat". Later after Jordan is going to jail he just walks by without saying something. I mean if there was ever a moment for one to gloat it would be right there. Just have him turn and be like "you never got my fucking boat". Though he was right in the end when they did the scene on the train. I love that in real life the real Jordan Belfort is now selling some system where its essentially how to bullshit people...but ethically.
  19. You have to admire anyone who got blacklisted from the Tonight Show for LIFE (though Fallon rightfully gave her a pardon) because of when she did her own talk show and didn't ask for Johnny Carson's blessing. That would have killed a normal person's career, but she kept on thriving. I can't really begin to imagine a world without Joan Rivers pissing people off.
  20. When was Bullet Club ever cool in the first place? Most of those guys would have been carrying Vincent's bags to Thunder tapings in 1999. It's Japan. I guess that's supposed to mean something. Workrate...stars...yadda yadda. More talk about DA BIG GUY. I damn near lost it when he did the Ryyyyyybaaaaaackkkkkk....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz while still mouthing rrrruuuullllllllleeeeesss at the end. Holy shit. Its Jason and Fonzie as the referee. Is this WCW or mid 90's ECW?
  21. I think the big things are: - The wrestlers actually look like and behave like people you'd see walking down the street. I can see myself running into a Dusty at the bar or a Lawler at an autoparts store. I don't see myself running into a Hogan, Andre or Ultimate Warrior. - Taped from a studio. Continental made that switch around 84/85 and you can easily see the differences. - More focus on hometown stuff with local charities, businesses and people involved, especially with Memphis. I'm pretty sure you could find Lawler or Dundee without much of a problem in Memphis if you tried. Good luck trying to flag down Hogan. - More focus on blood/violence - Southeastern and Memphis ran some pretty vicious angles for their time and had no problem spilling the blood. Same with the NWA. - More focus on family/relationships - The southern promotions were ruled with families whether it be The Armstrong's, The Fuller's, The Anderson's or others. The WWF never really got that. - More about honor and being a "man". - More willing to cross the line and be un-PG. - A lot more punches and basic moves for finishes as opposed to the "finishing move" like Hogan's legdrop, or Savage's elbow and so on. You watch a Memphis show from 1986 and a WWF show from the same period and they are absolutely nothing alike. You would never see Macho Man put Miss Elizabeth's hair up in a match, but Bill Dundee sure as hell would put his wife's up. Heyman explained it perfectly on the newest Stone Cold Podcast. The WWE is all about the face being the be all end all. Everything revolves around them. You know if something happens they'll get their revenge. In the NWA, it was about the journey of the face trying to get that revenge.
  22. When they announced it, I had visions of the dogs running around inside the hell in a cell. The Poonjab (say it like the Undertaker) was everything the Kennel match could have been (minus the dogs).
  23. Anything sweet here is refered to as candy. But yeah this episode looks terrible.
  24. I'm sad that this never happened to Hornswoggle at any point.
