  6. If he was smart, soon as the final game ended he'd announce he is retiring to spend more time with his family. Then next year they will give him a big ceremony and Brady will be there and everyone will hug and cheer. But if I've learned anything about football players and coaches, instead he'll act like nothing is wrong (either due to arrogance or wanting to break the all time coaching win record) and we'll just have to see if Robert Kraft will force him to move on or due to everything he has done just let him continue as long as he wants.

  10. There are 2 groups of 6 wrestlers. Call them Group A and Group B. Everyone will wrestle a singles match against everybody else in their group, so everyone will have 5 matches. At World's End, which will be after everyone has wrestled their 5 matches, the person with the best record in Group A wrestles the person with the best record in Group B. The winner of that match is the winner of the tournament. To answer your earlier question about whether this is the same as the G1 in terms of length and matches - the G1 has changed over the years, but in general this AEW tournament is shorter and easier. This tournament has fewer people in it which means fewer matches, and people will have more days off in between matches.

  11. Tony needs to get Yano over for this and put him in the same block as Mox so we can get a rematch of their G1 match (or make it the finals but TK is too much of a coward to have Yano win and take the belt off MJF like he should)

  12. Any time someone has a long track record of great success they are at risk of getting the attitude that no one ever knows enough to tell them no, no matter how much they start falling off. In the NFL we've seen in the past with Al Davis. as wrestling fans we know this phenomenon well with Vince. Not impossible that it would manifest again with Belichek.

  14. I guess I’ll be the guy to suggest Control. The gameplay is fun, what with the shape shifting gun and the powers you get, but the atmosphere, lore and main story (and the DLCs!) are all just out of this world fantastic. Easily Remedy’s best work they’ve done - I haven’t played Alan Wake 2 yet, though.

  15. i've decided on my "nonsensical pick to be the devil"... Swerve Strickland Because whatever is going on in the Swerve-verse has to be convoluted and angle-tastic. Don't even need to bring back Tattoo Guy and the Other Dude to be the goons. Maybe Swerve just absorbs Roddy's Friends.

  16. That reminds me, when Carol and Monica were discussing how Monica got powers, it felt like a perfect moment for an editors’ box saying “As seen in WandaVision ep. 7” or whichever ep it was.

  17. Bill was already noticeably better during his time in Impact. I think getting canned by WWE was a big wake up call for him. It's just taken a while to sink in that this isn't the same guy that ran around with Enzo, and now he's actually featured as a champion. I'd say Skye Blue has shown the biggest talent jump this year. The endless losses to Ruby and Toni didn't make for good tv, but no doubt it's greatly benefited her in the ring.

  18. Wouldn't call this movie "great", but it was absolutely a lot of fun and very charming. Iman Vellani as Kamala completely carries the movie, and if everyone else had matched her effort level, the movie would have been better for it. Ms. Marvel was easily my favorite D+ MCU show though, so maybe I'm biased. The cameos definitely worked in setting up other things rather than just being like "oh that person is here".

  19. Marisa Tomei in that movie had 6th grade me showering 3x a day, but I digress. Also not putting Zimb down as childish for the record lol - I pictured it as a very luxurious, zen-filled situation. A little candle light, maybe smoke a nice J, and you fire up a bull rope match. That sounds straight up delightful.

  20. I'd take the over. Unless there's off field issues I'm pretty sure at least one more team will take a shot at him even if he is a complete bust in Carolina (also, I'd like to see how the plays with better weapons and blocking before I completely write him off.)

  21. I'd be content with ROH titles being strictly for ROH TV and defended only on ROH TV. And title holders being ppl (mostly) exclusive to that show. ROH seems to be in a difficult spot right now. The need to save costs and record before and after Collision is a major issue with this product's presentation. Empty houses being the GLARING problem. Cutting down the live taping portion to a half hour before and after could help. Classic arena style lighting might help. And for fuck sake, certainly cutting out 90% of the squashes would help keep or draw a crowd. Tighten the show to a 60-90 minutes. An hour of in-ring with lots of promos and packages. Also, is WBD cock-blocking from a weekly ROH report on one of the TV shows? It would help the show to be fucking acknowledged in some meaningful way. Also, it might help to stop featuring the forgettable Win Loss records if it means worrying about farming Squash victories and protecting low card talent. And here's a wild idea - have the shows actually feature the Champions! MJF as Tag Team Champions is indicative of how out of touch and off the mark this side project is right now. So too Joe showing how meaningless the TV Title is. Lastly, move ready talent (as in, having put together a compelling act) like Athena and Billie Starks along to 'TV' when ready. Clearly, barely anybody is watching this middling show let alone paying for it. It's fucking mindboggling how Athena/Starks, two of their best workers, are kept in obscurity on this lame duck show while the AEW Women's Division continues to struggle.

Would’ve lost a few from THE GREATEST CLASS EVER~!, but the list would’ve overlapped pretty close with the ones that have already been run off or transferred.

  30. NO KEVIN KELLY!!!! according to Nigel on 77 day girls get eaten more? I'm gonna need someone to explain that to me I'm very happy DRAKE got plenty of meat chopping time. This was one match I expected to go several minutes but instead goes through PIP! Really good women's match, liked that Willow had the drop down trip that Julia used against Sky scouted. Nice attention to detail. Say what you will but AEW has made THE GIANT feel like more of a special attraction than I ever remember him being in his last place of employment. Bad knees be damned I want to see this. Roddy snuck onto another one of my shows... he's dragging down The Kingdom. I miss bathing Beauty Maria.

  34. Tonight was a really good episode of Collision. I purposely avoided the spoilers so I could go in watching fresh and it's a nice feeling to do that. Andrade vs. Garcia was a good opener. I liked Miro looking on from the back. That should be a good feud with him and Andrade. This match was good though. Garcia needs a title. Maybe put him back in ROH to take back the Pure championship. But good win by Andrade as Miro laughs in the back. Nick Wayne vs. Dalton Castle was a fun match. Dalton tossed Wayne around like a rag doll. I don't get the whole prodigy thing with Nick Wayne, but he can sure take a beating. I hope Dalton goes far in the eventual ROH Television title tournament. Maybe even win the thing. Rush and Dralistico vs. Workhorsemen was all right. JD Drake is such an underrated big man so I'd like to see him get more chances to shine. Rush and Dralistico are being thrown into a very crowded tag title scene. Martin vs. Roddy was funny at points. I like Strong's gimmick at the moment so all the little things he does are pretty funny. After the match we get an surprise announcement hyping up AEW's version of a G1. Bryan is there and he's gonna be in it. Ok cool. Cant complain about that. Willow vs. Julia Hart was a good match. Julia continues to improve in these matches. Hobbs killed some random jobber. I'm looking forward to him and Paul Wight standing off with each other on Wednesday. Darby Allin, Sting and Adam Copeland vs. Lance Archer and The Righteous was a fun six man. I hate that this new group of The Righteous and Archer were just formed and they lost all ready. Gotta build them up first Tony. But this was a good six man none the less. Darby looks like a crash test dummy being all taped up. I was surprised Sting was in this match as much as he was. Copeland was firing on all cylanders so I can't complain. At the end I liked after the loss you can barely see it, but Jake throws his hands up being all "thats just great". Like I said, I didn't like The Righteous and Lance Archer taking a loss in their first outing. Overall a really good show tonight. I think they can survive being taped once in a while.

  36. Just an FYI, on Night Flight TV (yes, this exists, and you can sign up for like $1 a month) there are gonna be 10 El Santo films that got new English versions done up on commission from Robert Rodriguez for El Rey (which, yes, still exists and is also showing them).

  37. i've been curious about UFC 300 since this past spring, wondering what will get booked and if it will be some sort of super show. still curious. i currently watch all of the numbered events (live if possible, but definitely on Sunday if live isn't an option). i think once we slide past UFC 300 and Rizin 50 (which should happen around the same time, maybe mid summer), i'll probably get even more lax about watching and paying attention. I'm already to the point that i only really have name recognition with about half of the main card fighters, and prelims drop that percentage sharply. i just can't follow it with the same fervor that i used to.

  39. Honestly, I think the only thing that is required viewing before seeing this is Wandavision, and even that is kinda pushing it. They do a good job of setting up who Kamala is, but didn't really fill in the blanks for Monica. Also pretty much saw Wandavision though.

  40. I've found it challenging to drum up any interest in ROH over the past month. So many issues with this current product, not least of which is the atmosphere of empty arenas. That said, the Athena-Mercedes video package to begin was terrific. I'd like to see that bout. Billie/Athena promo was fine. The MIT nonsense is dragging. I skipped passed Nese v Serpentico: 'That'll put butts in the seats'. Really tho, both are great hands, but let them be just that, and do what they do wonderfully - put over upward mobile performers. The Ethan Page bit to end was embarrassing. Page is really struggling to put the pieces together. That said, great place for him to try things out no matter how embarrassing. Martin/Andretti/Infantry promo was fine. No interest in seeing another Athena squash. But then finally a match appears to my liking in the form of Fletcher v Lee Johnson. And no surprise it was very good. Lee's a good hand/enhancement talent, and that's a fair and respectable spot. Skipped Leyla v Renegades and the Iron Savages v Griff/Karter. The Savages cheesewhiz act seems to have plateaued pretty low in the card. Not sure they oughtta be going over any teams at this stage. I often wonder what a repackaged solo Bronson could do? I also wonder if Boulder repackaged and presented like a real true (sorta) Giant would work. He's a bit clumsy, but doing way more than he should. And he's essentially a comedy wrestler. Ugh, Not really into the ass-eating taunt. Might be beneficially to the optics of the product not to have guys doing ass-eating taunts. I'm not seeing Griff's chances of success increasing with this middling unit beside Karter and foxy Maria. Nice Samoa Joe video showcasing how meaningless the TV title is. Sounds like Tony's got an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! Rachel Ellering v Billie Starks was sloppy not unlike a lot of the Rachel matches I've seen. Billie is clearly so destined for the top of the card. She's already too good to be only on this little viewed show. The Leyla-Maria angle just goes on and on, and I don't sense many if any care. It was fine for a month long arc. Then, move the fuck on. Long term storytelling is not for every story and it's also not carrying out the same shit week after week after week. The current crop of onnnnn-going stories are have lost me. I'm very okay with more focus on characters than stories, always and forever. Josh Woods squash was fine. I skipped Infantry/Andretti/Martin v STP/Nemeth/Avalon. Just go to the Andretti/Martin v STP match already. Maybe even have a re-match. Adding job guys to the mix for an 8 man makes the match that much more unnecessary. Shane Taylor had improved his look greatly with the loose short, but why improve your look when you can wear a generic ill-fitting spandex? Presentation is vital Shane, especially with your degree of talent. I liked what I saw of Dralistico v Gravity. Dralistico was looking fierce like his lunatic bruv. Gravity seems to be improving and finding his way a little. Kingston v Angelico was an excellent Main Event. They even had a decent portion of the Collision crowd. Angelico could really use a fresh coat of paint. Drop the neon, the shitty entrance music, goofy dancing, goofy name even? His skillset is tremendous and feels completely under utilized in this low card semi-comedy gimmick. That said, maybe he's more valuable backstage as a coach or something? Eddie was great here as per usual. Hearing Riccaboni talk about Kingston's NJPWStrong title defenses makes me wonder why NJPW and AEW don't have a deal to regularly share footage. A couple highlights of Eddie defending that title would do nothing but help build the Champ's aura. I trimmed this episode down and enjoyed most of the things I took the time to view. I'll continue to be interested in Kingston's title defenses (against worthy opponents), but not much else.

  41. Re: Rampage Starks v Vance was a solid opener. I like both Bill and Starks as singles, and as heater hoss/singles, but as a tag team they’re offering far less than a Championship team oughtta. They have little cohesion as a tandem, and their run seems to be featuring more Starks singles than tags. Is elevating Ricky enough to justify? Oh, and Bill was excellent on commentary. I’d love to see them move the straps back to an actual team worthy of the gold. Jericho promo was good. This Lionheart babyface run is featuring far better promos than his regular standard bratty High School comedy shit. And sold, how do I see this DDT Takeshita bout? Nana/Callis promo was terrific. Heel manager collaborations are a beautiful thing. Jarrett and Co promo was good. Lethal would be better served not looking like shlub during his TV time. Dress the part of a champion. Ortiz has been doing well with his minutes. I hope he can find a new partner to rescue him from singles job duty. I skimmed passed Velvet v Soho. Please make Velvet a heel. Roddy segment/Kingdom Squash was excellent. Roddy is killing it, and the Kingdom are making the opportunity count. The Roddy/Kingdom/Andretti/DARIUS! promo was also solid. Daniel Garcia promo setting up a match with Andrade, fuck yes! Totally into this Angelo Parker/Ruby/Saraya/Daddy Magic sports and entertainment! Kommander/Vikingo v FTR was tremendous. Get the straps back on a worthy team. Terrific fun on Rampage this week. Re: Dynamite Excellent as expected MJF v Danny Garcia opener. OUTSTANDING Mark Briscoe video! More of These videos for more of the matches. Sell the matches!!! I'd love to see this company really get behind Mark Briscoe in a big way. He's an outstanding talker and worker. He's got IT! Darby/Sting v Outrunners did what it needed to. Toni Storm/Hik-a-roo segment was terrific. Finally, a good Toni Storm segment after dragging this excellent character thru the bad comedy mud. Looking forward to Toni being the championship gold standard again. Swerve v Penta was terrific fun. Hangman run-in was strong. This has been sloppy shitty storytelling, but they finally got to Strickland getting his comeuppance for the senseless (creatively and every other way) home invasion. Jay White promo was a little less than it needed to be. Street Fight video package was a bit lame, but god bless AEW for seeing the value in giving time to Video Preview Packages. MORE MORE MORE. Dug the Young Bucks/Jericho/Omega promo. Very into this bout. Samoa Joe v Keith Lee was fun. All things considered, Keith Lee is probably best suited in a tag situation. Let’s get the Pretty Boy Killers with Taylor happening again, pronto. Joe rules. Give em the belt. Ugh, less into the silly surrendering of the ROH TV Title. OC promo was fine. I skipped the Gunns v Bollywoods. Nice intensity in their promo post match. Mox promo was his standard fun. Skimmed Julia Hart v Red Velvet. The Division booking continues to struggle with these meaningless stories. Who fucking cares who’s friends with whom? How could I possibly be invested? Can we light the fire on Willowmania already!? Mariah May promo was kinda fun. Would’ve been a lot more effective if they showed a little video package of Stardom highlights prior to her Toni obsessing. Happy to see some fresh new talent to move passed this pretty rough and forgettable era of the Division. Mark Briscoe v Jay White was fucking excellent. The angle to close was fine, but if I’m honest, I don’t really give a shit about this Masked man/team. I did feel a little glee seeing the Assclaimed take a beating for their irritating comedy segments and shitty trios matches. Great show! This felt like a nice bounce back from the last couple weeks.

  43. Just started watching the documentary on Netflix about the rise and I guess fall of JUUL E-Cigarettes. If you are one of these people who will tell everyone that vaping is much better than regular cigs then this you probably want to avoid this. It is almost funny that in the first 10 to 15 minutes the original designers were "cigarettes without the dangers of it and the addiction" of it and that goes out the fucking window as soon as the marketing hits. The path they want to promote JUUL was exactly the same route that the cigarette companies did by appealing to it's "cool" factor with influencers and social media. Also the marketing about how safe it was was pretty much the same too. You see how even the people who defend JUUL because it got them off of regular cigarettes readily admit they are massively addicted to it.

  45. I was like "Wait, Dallas Page vs Swerve Strickland? That's random, even for Coach Tony!".. then I realized we're in the Boxing/MMA folder. Speaking of UFC, ESPN.com has a front page article about one of the fighters from UFC 1, Art Jimmerson, for years mocked because he thought that he could fight Royce Gracie with one boxing glove (protect his jabbing hand to keep the fight at a distance, and then throw the ungloved hand for the knockout blow when set up). He was apparently a top 10 boxer at the time, and was inline for some bigger money fights, but his boxing career was basically glass ceilinged by his UFC 1 loss (he admits in the interview he had no idea of what he was getting into, so much so that Big John McCarthy, who was travelling with the Gracie camp, actually showed him how outclassed he was backstage in a sparring session, taking him down. But I don't think anyone could really blame him, as at the time no one understood that UFC 1 was basically the Gracie's showing the world that no one who hadn't specifically trained to defeat Brazilian jiu-jitsu could compete with it in the UFC ruleset (such as it was at the time). Good to see he's had a good life and has no bitterness about what happened in UFC 1. edit: Link to article: https://www.espn.com/mma/ufc/story/_/id/38827608/art-jimmerson-one-glove-ufc-1 Oh, and speaking of early UFC's and people outclassed, myself and a few friends actually ordered the UFC 2 pay per view, and one of my friends (eric), who is a ninja-fanatic, had his eyes light up when he heard that Scott Norris's style of fighting was listed as "American Ninjitsu". He confidently turned to us and said "This guy knows ninjitsu. He'll beat this kickboxer (Pat Smith) easily!". Note: He did not win easily. He did not win. Instead, he got the ever loving CRAP knocked out of him, including quite possibly the most vicious elbow strike to a downed opponent I've ever seen (one of those where you hit the guy so hard that his head bounced off the mat back up into the elbow). I actually rewatched that fight just now and yeah, it's... eek. Needless to say, we teased Eric for YEARS after that
