  1. If the WWE does not Hold steadfast to the fact that Dom is Eddie Guerrero's kayfabe son Bring in Vickie to teach Dom the ways of his biological father Have Dominick wrestle as Dominick Guerrero and rip off Eddie's moveset (poorly) Use this to set up an intergender Rey vs. Rhea Custody of Dominick Ladder Match then they are absolute cowards of the highest order.

  2. Bill Mercer is unfairly looked upon without taking it in its proper context. He was a local DFW mainstay for decades in both radio and television. The man who told Lee Harvey Oswald that he had just been booked for shooting John F Kennedy, for crying out loud, during a press briefing. He called commentary for the Dallas Texans, Cowboys (including the infamous Ice Bowl game), Texas Rangers and various college bowl games. Oh and by the way, the voice of Dallas rasslin’ since the 1960s. Dude is a legend and a sweetheart of a guy who is genuinely touched that people still remember him. I’m also proud to say that he’s a friend.

  3. Sting having a major tan would have actually gone against his character at that point. The guy spent 15 months hanging out in rafters, avoiding people and not socializing. Could you imagine crow Sting showing up at the beach and laying out in the sun or going to the tanning salon to get a spray tan? What a crock of nonsense.

  4. While it can't hurt Stokely to be with the tag champs, I think the real value would be for Christian to end up with them. Everyone would know that he's just using them for a payoff and so he can do less work but they're so desperate for a father figure that they flock to him and buy all of his bullshit. It'd be amazing TV.

  6. It’s been about a year since we lost the great Scott Hall and he was on my mind today on a Sunday afternoon like the kind of afternoon I used to watch rasslin. I was thinking about the convo he had with Sting that’s been repeated many times and that everybody knows about, which led to The Crow Sting. That convo captured everything about WCW and about Scott Hall in a nutshell each. There you had Sting, WCW’s baby, thinking about a new gimmick or atleast some kind of change. He had pretty good idea to wear black because black was cool in the late 90s and you had to be cool to be cool. Or something. WCW had alot of good ideas, as we’ve discussed. They’d even go as far as to stick them on TV and see. They would never have a foundation to work from though, and they would always be expected to produce returns right away. Sting deciding to wear black and look tough would have been no different than...say...Van Hammer deciding he was a hippie. Then there was Scott Hall, who Jim Ross said was 1 of the best wrestling minds. The convo with Sting proves it. Sting told him what he was thinking about doing and it was Hall who told him basically what I said above. He explained that it had to have a foundation to spring off of, and that it had to be all out. Not just changing ring clothes and acting different for no reason.

  7. MODS, feel free to rename this, move it, delete it, make it into the start of the March discussion thread if we're going monthly, whatever, but I think we should push this off from the standard AEW monthly discussion. Here's the list of matches (no spoilers) Night 1 taping: Night 2 taping: Here's where the PPV seems to be headed: It's all pretty promising overall. A lot of ten minute competitive matches that feel fresh. High end Dark/Elevation stuff. We won't have to worry about commercial breaks or fitting everything in before the start of Dynamite that sometimes crimps Elevation's style. Obviously they were long tapings and people were supposed to be pretty worn out by the end of the second one.

  11. If I had the book for Uncle Tony, I'd seriously consider putting the All Atlantic Title on Big Bill this week. Not because I think Cassidy has done a bad job, but just to reintroduce some unpredictability. Stoke has done a fantastic job getting the nose up on that Firm stuff and that group probably deserves a bit of shine. Then you could do Cassidy vs. Joe for the TNT Title if you don't put the title back on Wardlow.

  14. I'm going to be a dumb sourpuss about this, but I believe in the romanticism of baseball. It was the only team sport where there was no timer, where the pitcher was the one who decided the tempo of the game. There was time to think, time to breathe, time to feel the air of the night. Baseball was meant to be a game where there was a lot of thinking going on. This match up is bad for us, so let's make a change. This runner is inhumanly fast, so I need to do whatever I can to throw off his timing. This batter thinks I'm going to throw down and out, but I'm going to challenge him inside instead. This fielder is way too far off the base, so I'm going to try to take it. A million different decisions. All with the opportunity to be thought out, all with the opportunity to be second guessed, all with the chance to change the entire flow of the game. It's a brilliant game, it's a thinker's game. And that's just it, the game flowed at its own pace. There was no need for a clock because that fundamentally changes how the game operates. The game can take 3 hours? Good. Let it. I don't care. I do not need a clock in my baseball. I do not want a clock in my baseball. I do not like that pitch clock Sam I Am.

  15. Read a recent tweet from Bayley how she doesn't want to be left off WrestleMania again. Fucking criminal how Bayley/Sasha Banks carried the WWE during the pandemic era and Bayley wasn't booked to have a match at WrestleMania XXXVII. Bayley was instead stuck as WrestleMania XXXVII host and with Hulk fucking Hogan. Such an insult. Bayley should have won the 2021 Women's Royal Rumble match in 2021 for Sasha Banks vs. Bayley at WrestleMania XXXVII. Felt that way at the time and still do On the subject of booking, Bayley's not had the best since returning from her ACL injury at last year's SummerSlam. Thought she'd have won one of the WWE Women's world titles.

  18. Mercer and Lowrence were the perfect announcers for World Class, a Gordon Solie type wouldn't have been a good fit. World Class needed Von Erich homers who were able show disgust at the heel doing heel things, the disappointment when something didn't go the Von Erich's way and the same shock the fans had when something crazy happened.

Rhodes hip tosses Gable over the toprope and hits a SWEET TOPE! Otis distracted! Rhodes CRUSHES Gable with a Cross Rhodes after a BEAUTIFUL Cody Cutter! That was really good. 22. Stokely's new character is the best, I hope it's not temporary. Omega should eventually become to the All Atlantic title what Lyger was to the IWGP Jr. title -- the legendary guy who holds the belt like a million times, can beat anybody at any time, but also loses to the young stars along the way when the stakes are high.

One of the other gals runs to the back rather than face Nyla. Powerhouse Hobbs mangles a dude. Daddy Magic is the highlight of the match. I would be more familiar with the Arizona enhancement dudes if UWN still ran Arizona. But they don't so I don't. ETHAN PAGE IS A DANCING MACHINE! Hey, Matt Hardy is a face in peril! PAge with a GREAT boot to the face of Watson! Zay screams like a little girl! Watson takes the Twist of Page like a WEIRDO! ATHENA~! ATHENA~! ATHENA~! 27. Really need to check out Kaito/Okada at some point. It sounds so fun. I hope Okada continues to bring a bit of that arrogant dickery out in his current title run. Glad to see another who wants a Imperium/Raiders vs. Brutes/Strowman/Ricochet/Moss 10-man tag. It could be so much damn fun.

  28. It's more likely that DDP simply doesn't know the literal definition of "antihero" and was using it colloquially to mean a popular character that isn't entirely virtuous. His face run kinda had some parallels to Austin in that he embodied a blue collar American stereotype, but ultimately he stuck to pre-attitude babyface tropes with his promos and feuds. Austin actually went all-in on the trashiness and changed the game.

  31. I know he worked for CBS-KRLD locally, especially during the aftermath of Nov 22, 1963. I’ll have to ask if and when I see him again. He is staying at a retirement home in the North Dallas area. My grandmother also stays there, lol.

  32. one extra note about the Jake A&E Biography Diamond Dallas Page's talk about Jake being the first antihero in wrestling was reasonable enough (hey, if he wasn't, he was close to being the first).. then he mentioned Stone Cold as an antihero, which is also true.. then he mentioned DDP as an antihero, which is complete bullshit, at least in regards to DDP's peak run in WCW. Dallas has done a lot of good things for others, but it's okay for him to not try to put himself over in some conversations.

  36. Has there ever been a performer on a wrestling show like Bill Mercer in WCCW? He was one of the absolute worst announcers of all time, but the segments he did and produced like the Freebirds at the pool, David and Garvin in the barn, investigative reporting from Akbar's office, tea with Chris Adams, etc, etc were fucking fantastic. He was SO good in the vignettes while also being a fucking awful announcer.

  37. Wow...I have to see this. Eric Bischoff burying Hogan actually gave me goosebumps. I thought I’d never see it like I thought I’d never see so many things I’d never see in wrestling again. And when the goosebumps are gone I’m going to mark tf out lol! So did Nick Patrick really screw up you think? There’s no need to lie about that if he finally let go of the Hogan lie. Of course the quote on Patrick there is still kind of vague. Maybe he did come clean. I’ve said it before that I always thought the whole ending went as planned, just that the plan was really freaking dumb. Eric tried to keep Hogan from losing while also having Sting win clean and they came up with...that. And also good for Nash for chiming in with the truth for once also. He can still kiss mine to for his own little stunt that night but atleast we busted through to the light on Starrcade finally.

  39. The concept of the MJF vs Danielson feud is very interesting, but the execution didn’t hit as hard. MJF resents the world for his break up and hates Danielson risking his health while he has everything Max wants in life. Hates him for wrestling every week and crippling his body, but the heel contradiction being that Bryan was wrestling weekly as a stipulation set up by MJF. That is a good twist to a dynamic of “you have to win each match I set up” storyline that has been done a few times already. It feels weird that a few weeks before the actual event Danielson has earned his shot and is seemingly not going into the match as battered. Also, we get super villain car crash IM A HEEL promo as the build throughout. Did they come up with the explanation for Maxwell’s distain mid-feud? The pieces were there for fantastic storytelling but really falls short of previous rivalries we’ve seen MJF have. Match booking-wise, smart to have Dragon as the first big opponent. Especially building with great Danielson matches to show how special of a talent he is. MJF’s win in an Iron Man match against who is as highly acclaimed as a great wrestler is an easy move to make. Maybe he beats Hangman or Moxley next. Or even a returning CM Punk. Lose to super baby face like Cole or Kingston or Daby or Wardlow or whoever you want to be the face of the company. Or give Danielson the win for @The Natural ——- Andretti involvement sounds like was a Jericho call while Ricky was the plan in motion. Maybe they team as Starketti? I’m not really too interested in all of this but hopefully Starks’ profile rises. ——— Can you have a Texas Deathmatch not in Texas or is it such a signature gimmick that it can be held elsewhere? Regardless, really cool stuff and I hope no one gets hurt. —— Give me more Samoa Joe murdering smaller people and being the king of tv. I think he loses here though. We’ll see if there is a go home promo for it. ——- I’m very interested in the Women’s title match. Big opportunity for each person to shine. I really hope for a great match. I would have like Toni in the Saraya spot, but a part of me is hoping Saraya hits it out of the park after a shaky start with the company. —— Tag will crown the almighty Jarrett as grand-co tag team champion and EVP. —— Jungle Buddy and Christian doing a thing?

  42. I'm just now reading this thread and I like the idea of Raven Challenging Sting at SuperBrawl. I wasn't too familiar with Raven prior to coming in with Richards. He was so unique because they kept him and his Flock as far away from NWO the whole run so Scotty lucked out lol. If Flair didn't have to be on the sidelines the rest of '97 and they added Malenko in the Horsemen by the time Bret came in that would have been fun since Eric wanted Flair to feud with Bret first because you could have used Benoits history with the Hart's to put more of a build to that. I dug Sting in the Wolfpac as a kid but now as an adult I understand that it was a way for Nash to keep his faction more over than Hogan's. I'm not saying Goldberg would be less over if Sting had stayed to himself but Sting would have been stayed more over by himself.

  43. I hope all of you are having a great day here. If you’re not, if you’re maybe thinking some not so nice things about yourself, please remember one thing: At the end of the day, at least you’re not the guy who made, transported, and held aloft for the majority of a three hour taping signs supporting Zach Snyder and talking shit on James Gunn. Unless one of you are that guy, then fuck off. (Please note that I do not have strong feelings one way nor the other on Snyder or Gunn, but Jesus was that guy annoying!)
