The Ant-Man movies are running on Rudd’s substantial charisma, the character having a great gimmick, and heist being a good premise for any movie. They’re upper-tier Marvel for me. But I don’t take such things as seriously as some do. They’re breezy watches. Gonna wait for D+ on the new one though. Quality drop post-Endgame, gotten used to not going out to the cinema so often, and their theatrical exclusively window disincentives going to see anything. I’d be shocked if I’m purchasing a ticket to see any MCU stuff until Kang Dynasty. Of the handful of movies I’ve gone to see on the big screen during the pandemic, I haven’t bothered with a single Marvel and don’t regret that choice. I’d share my current MCU rankings, but I’m worried Natural would want to hurt me. Spoiler: Ant-Man supremacy, Spider-Man found dead in a ditch.

Hard to believe it's 15 years since Heath Ledger's passing. Shameless, original version was on an advert break so I went on the news channel and it was breaking. I was gutted and shocked as a fan of his since I watched 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) at the cinema. I was genuinely in the minority made up with Heath Ledger's casting as the Joker. What a fantastic performance in The Dark Knight (2008). I remember this date too as it's my Sister's birthday. Laura was 20 then and 35 today. Lucky to have her as a Sister. Happy Birthday, Laura. Main was exactly the type of wrestling I like to see, Jay Lethal is always solid and I like that they acknowledged their previous match , on of the better Bucks matches for me and The Dragon can do no wrong, glad the course corrected with the alignment of the women

1.15.2023 Osaka Three way tag battle. They just beatin' the damn dogshit out of each other. This was Itchy and Scratchy level comedy. Syuri's kicks sounded like a spud gun. Kawada X Gallagher (RIP) Crowd is a billion times better than the night before (we said our goodbyes)

Fantastic news which I've been hoping for all week. Always nice/bittersweet to see people in and around wrestling come together in shit times like these, but beyond just that, it sounds like the family has a really great community behind them locally. Hopefully that's at least a small comfort to them in some way.

I felt really uncomfortable with the commentary for Cage/Mack. Extending the benefit of the doubt, it was Jericho and JR being unprofessional, fucking around for their own amusement as if it were an episode of Dark rather than a globally televised show. At worst, it felt racially degrading the way they referred to Willie Mack throughout it. It's not as if you can be that deferential and dismissive based on his size like you would most job guys, or that the story for the match in the first place wasn't that these two took each other to the limit on Dark prior. Not as if there's a lot in either guys history that makes you want to extend the benefit either.

I didn’t see the play but I’ve been saying for a long time what I think Brian is saying, in addition to what he already said, if that makes any sense (as much sense as the rules right). They usually call things correctly by rule, especially catches and incompletions, but the rules are written so that they cancel out common sense.

It's not even that I think that was the wrong call. I'm pretty sure it was the right call by the letter of the rules. It's just become so fucking hard to tell if something is or is not a catch anymore, because the rules are so goddamn specific and replays so ubiquitous that you basically have to throw your hands up and wait I'm not even one of the "anti-replay" fans, I think on a whole replay has been a slight good, and it could be much better with some tweaks. I'm just so tired of trying to guess what is or isn't a catch. ------ Man, Buffalo's secondary has just been crushed this year.

It's sad to see him leave after being there since 1991 (or so). But the company being free of Dalys is good for them. He's also going to a promotion that I don't watch. Glad I got to see at least the end of that Titan match a few weeks ago.

I wrote an update a week ago and lost it. Right shoulder still not amazing, I can usually feel it in the morning. Benching pretty light once a week (8,8,8,8,10 on a pause cg bench a few days ago). An kind of front or lateral raise is pushing my luck. OHP seems to be mostly ok though, and I think it is recovering. New work gym has lots of nice stuff. Good plate-loaded back machines - getting a lot of upper back volume right now. I've used the sled a bit but the TRX they put on it for pulling I haven't really figured out. Attack bike is hard. Glute Ham Device is hard. The hack squat machine has a bit of a kooky strength curve and I think really needs to be used with bands. They have some 'Bulgarian bags' which I will play with soon. What's also nice is the work has been giving out free pots of stew/casserole and rice at lunchtime which are absolutely perfect for the pre-gym meal. Squatted 131kg ATG Narrow(ish) stance squat with their SSB - it wasn't super grindy but I suspect I would fail 141kg. Nonetheless I think this compares pretty favourably to the 155kg back squat I hit a few months ago. The SSB looks pretty much identical to the one I'd been using but has thicker padding which changes the positioning slightly. Erectors are definitely limiting factor rn, need to thicken them up. Need to be patient with the right shoulder, there are lots of other things I can focus on.

There hasn’t been any word yet and I agree that it could have been something other than texting or alcohol and people should withhold judgement without knowing the facts. Everything about the situation is so heartbreaking though.

We got a bunch of new (used) stuff for our gym this week. Last week was 4 workouts, I'll update some highlights if I have the time. (Ok, one highlight, which was 286 on the bench for a clean rep, so it's coming back). This week has been a mess because it has only been about carrying the new stuff INTO the gym. Today, I did trapbar from the new, higher platforms, and got 1x630 and a few other nice things. That was cool. Editing in: the other nice things yesterday were sets of 3x469 without Versas, then 2x586, then the aforementioned 1x630, 3x564 and 7x469. Then plenty of shrugs. Not so nice stuff is that I've been short on time, so no warm-up resistance band work, foamrolling or finishing ab work at all. We got a large set of dumbells that go from 4,4 lbs up to 88 lbs, so stuff like heavy hammer curls will be consistently back on the menu this year. The new gym is cramped right now, so we're going to have to weed out some of the less essential stuff, but it should end up OK, eventually.
