  1. 1) My life sure does not suck. 2) If your life sucks: Sorry! I am not trying to rub it in that my life aggressively does NOT suck. My intention is to share the joy. 3) 30 Rock taught us to never go to a second location with a hippie. Allow me to suggest that you should ALWAYS go to a second location with a Japanese professional wrestler. Hang on. I gotta switch browsers to post pictures. I'll spoiler them. Edit: A certain 8-tentacled poster did a nice thing and lightened up the pic of Dotonbori Pro wrestler Captain Amemura (who, rumour has it, really likes Takoyaki).

  6. I came here immediately after seeing this on Tik Tok (yeah, I do the things the hot teens do). That whole segment was nuts. I thought (and maybe it was) a long CVS receipt for getting kicked in the face. Jaw to the floor. Then Kiyomiya’s running drop kick and German Suplex maybe meant it was planned. Either way, I want to see their match. I love NOAH, kick kick kick! New Japan, strike strike strike!

  8. I went with Darby/Kushida. As good as Bryan and Bandido was, I really enjoyed the story telling of the Darby/Kushida match. Kushida focusing on the shoulder to set up the Hoverboard Lock. Darby's selling was fantastic. The flash pin with the last supper. It was everything I wanted out of a TV main event.

  10. I've seen one Low Ki match live, and one Kaval match live. In one match, Low-Ki knocked Danny Maff out for no reason with a shoot kick, causing mass confusion among both fans and workers, ending in multiple ambulances arriving. In the other, Kaval got to hang out with the Bella Twins after 2.5 mins of work Brother, I can tell you who I'D rather be

  12. I don't know if there's any WWE affiliation or anything that might prevent him from appearing, but I'd love to hear Ron Simmons on there - so much of what I have heard of him cover the years covers Doom and the WCW WHC win (and probably rightfully so) - but the kid in me wouldn't mind hearing a couple stories of the APA and the Stooges on the road in that '97-'02 period. Obviously, 'attitude' has been done.to.death. on every podcast, DVD doc, etc. ever, but so much of it is framed from the perspective of a sausage-maker (think Russo, Pritchard, Corny) or even when the subject is a sub-main-eventer (I'll say Bob Holly just for the sake of giving a name) it's often just memories of first impressions, reactions, etc. to whatever or whoever was happening in the main event scene. I'd love to hear a little nitty gritty on the undercard of the period... Like for example, those guys covering their perspective of the Public Enemy kerfuffle without the filter/lens of a WWE prod. team? Yes, please!

  18. Wrestling fandom really needs to straighten out its priorities that people are losing it because there wasn't this perceived enough of a tribute on Dynamite considering what the Pugh family is still going through and they've not only lost their father but his daughters may have difficulty walking again. Frankly, a wrestling tribute show is trivial at this point.

  20. It's almost certainly a reference to Maeda shoot kicking Choshu in the face. About 3:20 into the video. Totally agree that it's the most interesting angle New Japan has run in ages (maybe ever?) and I also completely bought that things were out of control until the dropkick and suplex. Great stuff!

  23. Sadly, a big mistake to begin - not giving Ethan Page the Hardy Boys obnoxious voiceover entrance. Along with the dancing component it’s what may endear the terrific ‘All Ego’ to the AEW public at large. I’d been hoping he might obnoxiously sing over Jungle Jack’s theme here. Nonetheless a fun bout. Not a fan of Stokely’s blatant interference without consequence. Haha, @Dean makes a great call on the title situation: #TBS=FTW. These world beater style deals like Jade and Ward-y are tricky business to keep fresh. I’d like to see these Vanity Twins again. Have they worked DARK? Wait, did Eddie Kingston turn heel here? I’m suspicious of Kingston’s current direction and placement on the card. Not quite absorbing myself in this story with X-Lax number 2, but I suspect Kingston v Ortiz might be fun. Darby Allin v Buddy Matthews, right the fuck on! Willie Mack v Brian Cage was the rematch I was hoping for. Something to solidly showcase Mack’s incredible potential. Clearly, he eats offense as good as anybody in the goddamn business. The way he’s been getting crowds behind him, moreso in LA, suggests there might be even greater upside than has yet to be imagined. Commentary seemed to be clearly putting Mack over. I thought they did a pretty good job. I liked Jim getting a little portion of a segment to shout out the Jags. Brian Cage v Bryan Danielson is going to be great wrestling or really good. Garcia v Andretti looked nice n smooth in there. Action Andretti isn’t entirely likeable – his promo in particular. In ring he moves pretty terrifically. It’s going to be a challenge to get this guy over as a babyface, but he’s doing remarkably well. I’m into these upcoming tags (Page/Hardy v Junglehook, Sex Gods v The Action Rickys) set up this eve. I wonder where they might find Danny Garcia’s next big opponent.

  25. My Top 5 for the short amount of time we've had 2023 rolling. 1. Danielson/Bandido 2. Danielson/Takeshita (1 and 2 are interchangeable depending on my mood, both are just so far above anything else AEW has done so far) 3. Willow/Ruby v Tay Melo/Anny JAS 4. Moxley/Hangman 5. Darby/Kushida Honorable mention to Darby v Joe, The Acclaimed v Jarrett/Lethal(the non street fight)

  30. My DVR fucked up and I had to record the show an hour in. Luckily there was a Spanish replay on one of the Fox sports channels. Have to say even in WWE Spanish announcing just sounds so excitable. I enjoy it despite understanding damn near none of it. Anyways, Drew/Sheamus vs. Viking Raiders was pretty damn good giving you exactly what you want with the teams dropping bombs when they weren't just beating the shit out of each other. Its a shame this was the first match instead of the finals. Hit Row vs. Los Lotharios was solid while it lasted. Imperium vs. Brawling Brutes was good stuff. not the bomb dropping brawl we had earlier, but good solid tag wrestling. Holland is coming around nicely and seems a bit more confident than he did last year when the team started. The chemistry between him and Bitch gets better and better. Legado del Fantasma vs. MMM was short but decent enough. I'm happy to see MMM get tv time though I wish it was less wrestling and more the fantastically dumb segments they do. I really hope they just convince Tyler Breeze to come back and join MMM. FInal segment with the Bloodline and KO was a solid moment in KO's favo.

  32. Cage vs Mack and Action vs Garcia were both exciting matches of the gogogogo go go type style, with clean finishes. Hopefully some wrestling grandpas were upset that big men were working like little athletic guys. That's always fun, to read about. Schadenfreude, baybay! Darby vs Buddy and Brian vs Bryan are both matches I look forward to. JR kind of seemed to me, today, to be more like a guy doing a parody of a "grumpy out of touch rambling JR" but maybe that was just me. I'm going drinking with my wrestling buddies in Osaka tonight for the first time in a while. Hopefully I'll have some fun pictures to post later.

  34. The world is fucking awful. Let's enjoy some professional wrestling. OH NO! Ethan Page doesn't get to dance! WHAT THE FUCK! To hell with the Jack Perry theme! LET THE MAN DANCE! Page is AWESOME pulling Isaiah Cassidy into Perry's Tope! So fucking assholish! Ethan Page is the Nouvelle Ted DiBiase- WWF version now. Perry counters Page's ICONOCLASM! Hathaway CHEATS and Page takes over! Ethan Page is so fucking great. What a total hilarious HEAT MACHINE. Perry bumps big to make Ethan Page look like a killer. MAN! Perry leans into the ringpost! BLOOD! WE WANT BLOOD! Ethan Page is so fucking good and Jack Perry is so fucking good. Perry is a Budding Darby Allin, dying on top of his skull in the corner in picture in picture. I love that Hathaway is yelling at Cassidy for Cassidy acknowledging that Perry goes on offense. PAGE HITS THE ICONOCLASM! Ethan Page IS CIMA! FOR TWO! TWIST OF PAGE! Countered! TWIST OF PAGE AGAIN! Countered again! Hathaway CHEATS and Ethan Page hits the TWIST OF PAGE! Perry with the feet on the ropes! Page CHEATS by grabbing Matt Hardy's aging ponytail! Hardy slaps his hand away and Perry rolls him up for the pin! POSTMATCH, they set up JungleHook versus Hardy and Page! So fun. That was quality storyline driven Memphis style wrestling. So Jeff Jarrett and Chris Jericho run AEW now. Eddie Kingston is sporting the Bunny/Butcher/Blade/Garcia sweat shirt. Ortiz and Kingston have a talk and it doesn't go will. WHOA! Darby Allin vs Buddy Matthews should fucking rule. WILLIE MACK! AGAIN! BRIAN CAGE! AGAIN! I assume this will rule. They go total Arena Mexico at the start! Cage starts beating on Mack! MAck is driven onto the HARDEST PART OF THE RING! We REVEL in picture in picture! Mack bumps like a PSYCHO for Brian Cage. Cage tells a little story by fucking around between each big move. They need to sign Willie Mack to put over Takeshita, Bandido and whoever else the Blackpool Combat Club beats into overness. GREAT KICK TO THE FACE by Willie Mack! The crowd gets behind Mack's comeback! NEARFALL that makes the Fresnoians CRAZY! DRILLCLAW! And that's that! That was fucking good. It's the Vanity Twins! I saw them wrestle the Renegade Twins a few weeks ago. Leila Grey looks pretty good. Jade is fun being the Tribal Chief. They kind of took care of having too many women's belts by pretty much making the TBS the FTW title and having ATHENA~! and motherfucking Jamie Hayter be out fighting champions. I notice they have stopped feeding anyone to her that they can push. They can definitely premier a women's tag titles. I cannot wait to see the LEATHORRR PAUNTS! HEY! They gave away the finish of the match! LEATHORRRRR PAUNTS! It's Action Andretti! In the Main Event! He was main eventing MCW in Maryland like six weeks ago. He is totally laying it in! He looks fucking great as Daniel Garcia makes him look a million bucks. Garcia starts beating on him as we head to the GLORY of picture in picture! Garcia hits a wad of Yakuza Kicks! Andretti makes a COMEBACK! FUN NEARFALLS! HEY! ANDRETTI WINS! ANDRETTI WINS! ANDRETTI WINS! I love that AEW fooled us by giving away the wrong finish. Top shelf. That was good if a bit forgettable episode. All the wrestling was good but compared to Wednesday's bonanza is pales pretty enormously. I loved Page/Perry, Mack/Cage and Garcia/ Andretti but all the superstar power was burning up the atmosphere on Dynamite. AEW RULES THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD!

  35. Hmm, it's really interesting that they’re broadcasting it, since it's apparently one of the Ticketmaster shows this time. If it keeps going as planned, the final two matches should definitely be worth a watch: Ángel de Oro, Bárbaro Cavernario, Niebla Roja vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Oráculo, Templario Volador Jr. vs Rocky Romero (credit to cubsfan)

  38. Very happy to see Top Flight get a big win this week. They've been featured heavily, but wins on tv are pretty much all that matters for perception. Notice how Ricky Starks is looking a lot more like a superstar instead of a guy who could be a superstar over the last couple of months. Definitely the right move to turn Toni and Saraya now instead of drawing it out. Ruby and Willow got a big boost from the street fight, the crowds have been dying to cheer Britt and Jamie, and the women's division could use a fresh heel act, even if there's "I'm better than you because I was in WWE" undertones. Bryan/Bandido was an excellent technical match, but I wasn't digging it due to the booking. Bryan has completely impenetrable plot armor right now, to the point it's nearly making him a heel against these fighting spirit babyfaces. It's way too much suspension of disbelief that Bryan/MJF won't happen, and I don't see a lot of value in someone like Bandido getting all their finishing moves kicked out of along the way. I think Cage is a much better type of opponent for this angle, where Bryan should still be a strong face out for revenge on MJF. I like the idea of Takeshita as a heater for MJF on the road to Full Gear in a vacuum, but he's another guy who needs a TV win against a lower-ranked guy way more than another competitive (but obvious) loss to a higher-ranked guy. Darby/Kushida was a lot of fun, and I really hope this TNT title run primes Darby to take the belt off MJF later in the year. He's the babyface that represents everything MJF isn't, and from a practical standpoint, AEW really needs to get mileage out of Darby while he's still young.

  41. I'm glad others liked this show. I actually liked Cage-Mack, and I don't generally like Cage, so that was good. I thought the rest ranged from fine to there to mediocre to awful (Jade squash). Dynamite is looking good again, and I will be interested to see Brian-Bryan just to see how Dragon handles a relatively athletic roid monster big muscle guy.

  42. Man, that was pretty damn great. It's easily the best I've ever seen Shafir look and Athena always brings the goods. It's not going to crack my top 5, but if i extended it to a top 10, it's 100% in it. I loved it. I keep saying i need to watch Dark more and this cements it. Appreciate you ranking it and linking it, it made me put eyes on it.

  45. Raw and NXT had some good stuff but nothing blowaway great. Dug OC/Lethal and Bryan/Bandido, but Darby/Kushida was the true standout of Dynamite for me with Kushida being a different kind of opponent from what Darby is used to. I kind of love that Darby escaped Kushida more than he truly won. The latest New Blood was probably the best they have done so far as an all around show. Nanae/Waka delivered the passionate match they advertised and the tournament had some nice matches all around. Thought the standout was Oedo Tai's Kid/Karma vs. Club Venus's Mariah/Xia. Kid and Mariah meshed way better than expected, and that was easily the best I can recall Xia looking in Stardom. Imperium/Brutes always deliver the goods. That said, the standout here was Drew & Sheamus vs. Viking Raiders. Kind of surprised that wasn't the main event with how hard they went at each other. Right now its what has my vote though Is till have to catch a few things like White/Okada & CMLL. Not sure what else I might give watch.

  46. Because Vince sees an ambiguously brown tiny guy and sticks him with all the other brown guys. I know Low Ki is a Puerto Rican guy from NY, that's kind of the joke.

  47. Say what you want about Low-Ki being a mini-egomaniac, but he was legitimately talented and could have been a star if he'd took his work more seriously than he took himself. With that said, his absolute buy-in on himself is probably what made him as successful as he was.
