  9. Easily one of the best Dynamites ever. The best thing about Adam Cole's appearance was that it was a complete surprise. We had no idea he was showing up tonight. No teases, no make sure you tune in for blah blah blah. It was a complete surprise, a total rarity these days in wrestling.

  10. Some egregious spray tans on the show tonight. Adam Cole's pale fingers, Juice and Toni as the orange power couple, and Action Andretti's hair colour blending into his body

  14. I don't have a lot to say about the potential Saudi stuff, and it still feels very potential, but... On some level is this amazing irony because all Vince ever wanted was mainstream credibility, to be accepted by those rich Greenwich jerks he based Hunter's initial character off of. And now he's created a media empire of the sorts that a terrible regime is thinking of buying it to give them credibility. Talk about concrete proof that you've "made it," huh?

  15. Saudi Arabia won't remove the women's division. That goes against everything they're trying to accomplish with their propaganda of being more progressive. They also won't force them to wear bodysuits while they're competing in non-Arabic countries. I don't like this any more than anyone else, but come on.

  16. so i mentioned in the December thread that 2003 TNA has been just dogshit awful. so i wanted to come back and mention that the show has dramatically improved. that is mostly because Vince Russo is no longer on TV. i know he's still involved behind the scenes, and S.E.X. is still way overplayed, but Disco Inferno is way more palatable than Russo (and good lord, think about the ground THAT covers!) the show definitely still has a lot of problems (too much Jarrett, lots of misogyny, guys popping in and out constantly) but the storylines feel a bit tighter and i'm just overall enjoying it more. still FAR from great, and maybe i've just gotten better at 'tuning out' the stuff i don't care about, but i wanted to give TNA the credit it's due.

  17. BUT WHO'S SIDE IS SHE ON!!!! Hager gonna slap Pretty Rickys face off his face... Once Hangman get's the belt back I want him to main event dynamite against Jeff Jarrett as sort of a neo- Flair v Magnum TA Tony faking us out by making us thing he was introducing MJF was nice two hours that really flew by

  18. I have to ask. Is someone backstage trying to sabotage Ricky Starks? "Make sure to make fun of a person's speech impediment" doesn't seem like very sage advice to give. I love AEW, and I will always watch and root for them. Having said that, between the misogyny and ableism lately, you would think it was AEW courting the Saudis, not Vince. Do better AEW.

  20. Yep. Pretty darned good couple hours of that professional wrestling right there. i am off to work now so no time to list all the things I loved. The BEST thing? In my opinion it was when the camera pulled way back for Adam Cole's return before quickly pulling in for a close-up. You know I'm all about the ZOOM! (Bay bay).

  27. BTW, the cynical side of me says that enough years have gone by since MBS had Jamal Khashoggi turned into a jigsaw puzzle that no one but us will give a shit that Vince sold the company to the Saudis. I understand with something like LIV being a flop that you could argue against that, but as casual golf fan, LIV seemed poorly organized and run. You can't say the same about WWE. They won't have any more trouble than they would have had securing a new TV rights deal. I wish I could say otherwise, but unless the Saudi government butchers someone else in the next week, this won't matter. Hell, look at people on this board who joked about calling those Saudi shows Blood Money and still fucking watch WWE anyway. It's all a joke and meaningless words on a screen. I think the biggest concern comes from the very real prospect that this is a way for Vince to solidify his power and ensure that no one can boot him from creative or running WWE until he's dead. He got the deal Dixie was looking for where she wouldn't sell to so and so because they wouldn't keep her in charge. I feel bad for the workers, fans, writers, and people on the production crew who got to enjoy what felt like months of stability for the first time in years. I don't feel bad for anyone else who went back to WWE thinking Vince would stay gone. I just don't see how people could be that naive to think he wouldn't worm his way back at some point. The other sad part to this is something plenty of us have talked about for a long while and that's how you could very well have a 3rd national touring company based on the amount of talent not locked down to WWE or AEW and they'd be a decent enough draw, but the perfect storm that willed AEW into existence probably won't happen again for a long, long, long time. You see people, not on here but elsewhere, talk about how Hunter with $100 million could start his own company. You need that $100 million just to get it off the ground. You'd need another 1/2 a billion to prove to a network that you're viable and aren't going anywhere, not to mention you'd need that in backup money to keep the lights on until you can run a profit. But the one thing that the recent shows in Seattle and Portland reminded me of is that those areas are as hot as a wrestling town as Chicago. Whenever WWE wouild run out there those crowds would be lit. You could have WWE based out of Stamford, while AEW's run out of Jacksonville you could argue that their home base is in Chicago, and a third company could claim the Pacific Northwest as their home. Three different companies, each offering their own unique take on wrestling, touring around the company, broadcasting on separate nights. It would be fucking rad. I just don't see that ever happening, especially now.

  35. I don't think a sale to the Saudis would be about the money and if I was reading tea leaves it's not that hard. 1. Vince doesn't like being retired and he wants to die in Gorilla position. 2. He knows he can't come back to a publicly traded company because of all the SEC noise, or if he does come back, it's trouble. 3. Tell the company he won't approve a sale or media rights unless he comes back. 4. He forces his way back in to approve a sale to the Saudis to take the company private. Fuck the stockholders and fuck the SEC. 5. He's already established relationships with the Saudi government, they will leave him to run the company, ala Dana White. The other thing to all this: after all these years of people threatening to not watch, the #cancelWWEnetwork stuff and everything else, nothing has changed. In fact, the people I see on social media saying things are so much better since HHH took over are the same people that were saying the shows were great before Vince stepped down. The ratings haven't really changed before or after, and they won't change if the Saudi government buys the company and Vince takes back creative. Which we all know is going to happen.

  39. Vince is at the level of wealth where money is not a thing you accumulate for security or to acquire stuff with. Money is now a high score like you're playing a game of Space Invaders. The more money he sells WWE for = the more successful he has been, and you can measure that success against other people who have cashed out. IMO, of course.

  41. Lots of irons in the fire so I haven't been able to finish the main event of tonight's Dark yet, but some great webshows with an awesome crowd and fun announcing. Even the enhancement matches have been pretty good and Page/Hardy/Kassidy has been some great stuff. Zay saying "I hate you" when Page put the mic near him legit cracked me up.

  43. Yeah, I am holding off on this. It is a mult-billion international transaction. Involving a controversial foreign country’s wealth fund. I really don’t think wrestling reporters are plugged in enough beyond hearing something from a wrestler who hears it from somebody. Maybe I am completely wrong but there is a huge difference in the quality of reporting from wrestling newz sites and major financial publications or media trade press. Another factor here, and this is something I am going to need to research - I have no idea what kind of approvals (if any) that a foreign sovereign wealth fund needs to take a publicly traded company private. A lot of countries have these types of national sovereign wealth funds. Fun fact: The biggest in the world is Norway’s (unless China’s took the lead since they are close in size.) The Saudis invest a lot of money in the US stock market but not to some insane degree. The Saudi wealth fund buying any well known publicly traded company and taking it private is a huge fucking story so that is why I am hesitant to believe any wrestling reporting.

  44. I've watched wrestling since 5 and WWF was my first promotion, taking the good with the bad it's probably still my favourite promotion ever. I want to support the wrestlers too. However I don't think I can with Vince McMahon's official return and all that he's done. The morale must have dropped a ton after the progress Triple H had made in six months especially making the secondary titles mean something again. Those released by Vince and brought back by Papa H have to be particularly down. You know it will have stuck in Vince's craw the positive WOM WWE was getting away from that senior old man's shit booking, the wrestlers Vince fired rejoining WWE. Shit news to wake up to. Fuck Vince McMahon.
