  2. Thinking about how awesome of a manager Scott Thompson as "Francesca Fiore" would have been for Harlem Heat:

  4. The fact that they all just assumed they would keep playing just shows that when there's enough money involved every one of these fucker owners and league is Vince McMahon at heart until someone has the guts to step up (the two coaches I guess) and say no. Good on McDermott and Taylor for realizing they have the power to shut it down and doing it.

  7. The WWF choosing to licence that awful Uncle Cracker song for X-Pac actively harmed him career. He was still a good worker at that point, would be for years afterwards, but that song made him synonymous with extreme suckitude.

  9. hopefully Skip Bayless' tweet tonight sinks him, as opposed to it being something he shakes off like every other awful thing he's ever said/typed (considering he kinda gets paid to be shitty, I'm being too optimistic here)

  10. I thought her match with Kiera Hogan last week was pretty solid. I wouldn't call Jade a world-class worker or anything, but when she's in there with a veteran who knows what she's doing, she looks good.

  11. Stopping this game feels like a very big moment in what's left of our collective conscience. Whatever happens, if they had just kept going and we all just shrugged and said "of course, what else can you don?" it would have been hard to ever think of ourselves as anything other than a death cult. I mean, it doesn't mean we're not a death cult, but it say something that I'm genuinely surprised they stopped it.

She was eventually invited back, but turned the company down." https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/aew-jade-cargill-confirms-rejected-wwe-offer-after-tryout-performance-center/ They might not have anything to worry about at all.

  15. Funny that this actually happened by accident last year due to an indy being clueless. Nash gets the mic and goes "You know what, that's not my music, that's Hogan's music, but I always thought how sweet it would be to come out to Voodoo Child, it's a little late for that", then when he left, they played the regular Rockhouse nWo theme instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVC-CGJxUEU (can't embed today due to unexpected fuckoff error)

  16. Well unless I am forgetting something, I believe the Armstrongs (Scott & Steve) also shared the same theme which was an omen I guess. Going back to what someone brought up I believe last month when Road Dogg said something stupid, I am more of the opinion that Bullet Bob hurt his sons chances in the business more than their lack of charisma. I was watching the 1/1/1994 SMW TV episode which was just a best of 1993 (hosted by Tammy Sytch and poor Jim Cornette who probably forgot to tape a TV episode for that week and has to be partly out of character to get through it), and there was bit where Bullet Bob is training the RnR Express and his sons Scott & Steve in the "jungles of South America". The amount of goofiness involved....just a career killer. If Cornette saw that on AEW or WWE TV today, he would rip that shit to shreds. Scott Armstrong jumping out from behind a tree with what looks more like blackface than warpaint and probably yelling "hiyahhh" or whatever guttural sound he conjured up is something everyone needs to behold. You could hear the sound of his career ending. Okay, found it. Timestamped and everything (originally from the 8/7/93 episode)

  22. DDP in there somewhere also? I'd like to be in the room for Coach Tony K trying to sell Goldberg on the idea of squashing MJF in under a minute to become the greatest Jewish heavyweight champion of all time, only for MJF to come out the night after and claim that a reporter from the Baltimore Jewish News went to interview Goldberg in the showers after the match and found out the hard way that he wasn't really a Jewish heavyweight champion.

  23. That's the best I've seen Jarrett look in AEW yet at least. That said, I am with Gordi in that I'd rather he not be on screen? Why? Every second he's there is a match with Satnam we don't get, basically. And Satnam's the guy who needs the reps.

  24. DADDY MAGIC! HIKARU SHIDA! I don't know who Tyra Russamee is! They are telling a little story! FLYING BUTT~! Tyra looks great in this. Smart Mark Sterling is a HEAT MACHINE! PILLARS OF DESTINY are OVER in Denver! Josh Woods is awesome with the Lariat on the apron. Woods comes in and BECOMES Steiner. Tony Neese has good punches. Woods is so awesome. Hey! It's Manny Lemons. He trained Reka Tehaka! Isaiah Cassidy will scream like a little girl because he loves us. Matt Hardy is our signed superstar in peril! Cassidy becomes our signed superstar in peril! CASSIDY SCREAMS LIKE A LITTLE GIRL! I FEEL THE LOVE! Black Tiger Driver into a Swanton! That was fun. It's Vickie-less Marina Shafir! I think I've seen Lilth Grimm wrestle before. She gets in a shoulder block. She should be on WOW. FUCK YEAH! ATHENA! ATHENA! ATHENA! DADDY MACK digging ATHENA as much as I do warms my heart. I don't think I've seen Gypsy Mac. Gypsy Mac is taking a Jodie Threat-level ass beating. ATHENA is the best thing in wrestling right now who isn't Jamie Hayter. Ryan Nemeth, Luther and SERP! Pretty Peter Avalon must have a court date. SERP is the BEST Rick Rude since Rick Rude! Evil Uno is the best Rick Rude since SERP! EVERYBODY CHEATS! This match is a HOOT! SERP! SERP! SERP! So the Dark Order is expanding soon according to BTE. Leva Bates gets an actual ring entrance. Julia Hart looks way more like Stevie Nicks tonight. Leva doesn't last long. It's Jeff Jarrett! It's Jay Lethal! Jarrett is a HEAT MACHINE! Ryzin and Lethal are good in the ring together. Satnam makes with the Chokeslam! Hagane Shinno! The Young Bucks Stand Ins! The House of Black are going to slaughter them, I'm assuming. Shinno gets is all his stuff! JESUS! Brodie King hits the MONSTROUS Lariat! Ah, Grillo breaks his ankle coming off the top. That was good because Hagane Shinno is being protected and Malakai Black made him look like a killer. That was a perfectly fine episode of Elevation.

  29. So Riko Kawahata is awesome? She and Cosmic Angel Unagi Sayaka makes this match really good. Maria and Chikayo Nagashima are also good. ===================== I dig Nina Samuels. Calypso is the second best lady from France and she is good. ======================== Ashley D'Ambroise was the ballerina in the Christmas battle where the New Day came out of the box as nutcrackers. So she is on the WWE radar. Rachelle Riveter is from Colorado and she looks good in this.

  32. I still maintain that even more than Kenny or The Bucks or MJF, the loss of Jade to the WWE would be the biggest blow to AEW. She has a great story, a one-in-a-million look, every one of my poor friends who I force to watch wrestling with me is instantly like "Who is THAT?" and the media seems to love her. I don't know what her relationship with Cody and Brandi is like these days, but she seems like such a natural fit for the WWE style and they wouldn't have to change a thing about her. I assume Tony Khan knows this and is doing whatever it takes to keep her happy.

  44. I bought very little in 2022 aside from the usual suspects (Elden Ring, HFW, Bayonetta, Ragnarok a few others), so I feel like 2023 is going to be the year that crushes my wallet. First half of the year already looks packed and some people are predicting it’s the kind of year we wanted from 2022 and didn’t get. Already probably got six day one purchases in January alone (3 new games + Persona 3, 4 remasters and Monster Hunter Rise port). Also heard that Xbox ports of Solar Ash and The Pathless will drop in Jan, though no official confirmation.

  45. That's really wild to me that Danhausen is even above CM Punk as far as moving merchandise (on PWTees). I know he's a big fan favorite, but to the effect of being the most sold merch for the company? Impressive. I think we need more TV time for Danhausen.

  46. RIP Maybe it's me being wildly nostalgic in light of someone's passing (also I am from the Mississippi Delta area which includes Memphis), but I feel that era of emerging female rappers like Gangsta Boo, Mia X, La Chat, Missy Elliott, Chyna Whyte, Lil Kim when she cared, and Lauryn Hill deserves their flowers when they definitely didn't get their credit back then. I guess some of that thought is probably you had a ton of variety back then as compared to now when it's either a rap/pop hybrid song or partly uncreative, over the top X-rated.
