  4. More Vince news in the WSJ. Anyone who said the WSJ would stop reporting on this was dead wrong. One of the best investigative reporters in the world is on this beat. https://www.wsj.com/articles/wwes-vince-mcmahon-faces-fresh-demands-from-women-alleging-sexual-abuse-11670945682 In sum: 1) A new allegation has emerged. A California spa manager says Vince sexually assaulted her about a decade ago. Her husband apparently went to the WWE show in town that night with a bat to beat up Vince but wasn't able to get to him. 2) Rita Chatterton is seeking damages. It doesn't read like a legal claim, but more like her lawyer wrote to Vince's lawyer demanding money. 3) Greg "The Hammer" Valentine surfaced in the article. He says Rita told him about the incidents in the 80s but he did not believe her because she was not attractive enough for Vince. 4) Vince has told people he wants to make a comeback and that he was given bad advice when he stepped down. He thinks the whole incident would have blown over. (It wouldn't.)

  6. Hopefully he can alleviate some of the timing issues. As for a brand split the only one is I hope ROH/AEW is a hard and fast split with minimal and rare brand jumping

  7. I'm not a fan of a brand split at this point, but I'd absolutely keep watching the product and would in no way leave due to one. That's how much I enjoy the company.

  9. You mean you don’t want to see Rampage have “Brand Supremacy” over Dynamite?! You wouldn’t like it if the shows were color coded? While I applaud the discussion this idea has created I am with the people that would hate this.

  11. I was wondering because I didn't recognize the wide receiver, but it was 1987 and the Dallas Cowboys were a team of anonymous chaodes. I know Danny White; Randy White and one other guy crossed the line but I don't think Neil Olekiwitz or Dexter Manley crossed the picket line. But that was while ago and a year before Jerry Jones bought us and restored us to GLORY! This was the year my mom special ordered a Cowboy varsity jacket with white leather sleeves which was the greatest Christmas gift and the greatest thing I ever wore ever.

  13. Since I missed watching the whole show before the Rampage thread closed, I’ll add my thoughts here. Mox-Soup was another great match and I’m so looking forward to when Takeshita finally gets that big win. Mox blading from a big boot was pretty funny though. Bunny-Shida was a fun match, Allie is a really great character in ring and a pretty good wrestler so she added a lot of entertainment to what was a foregone conclusion. Meteora from ring apron to floor was a great spot, and that might have been the best I’ve seen Shida’s finisher look. Tyga and Big Bill squash was a very good squash, probably something that should’ve been on YouTube but gave the crowd a break before the main. Big Bill was really good reacting and hyping from the ring apron, and they have some promising starts to some fun double-teams. Main was probably the least of the recent amazing OC run. The opening comedy section was fun, and Trent chopping the ring post sounded like it was solid contact. The middle section got a little janky at times, didn’t always flow smoothly. Ford going to get BBB made a lot of sense and I’m down for a Best Friends-Butcher and Blade match. The little story at the end with T7 blocking the first DDT attempt was a good transition to the finish section of a match whose outcome was never in doubt.

  14. I would, absolutely, stop watching if AEW split into WWE-esque "brands." Possibly, I would go back to only watching live shows (in Osaka), Secret Santo matches (matches I am given and matches I'm considering giving to others), and WK and select G1 shows on streaming services. Which is where I think I was before AEW started up. Maybe I wasn't doing Secret Santo then? But I still would have been watching semi-random weird matches on YouTube that were recommended by friends or that showed up in my feed. Which is pretty similar to Secret Santo, minus the mandatory write-ups. That would free up a lot of time every week, so once I got over the shattering disappointment over AEW turning into WWE I think I'd be able to spin it as being for the best. Edit: I will also stop watching if they do an AEW vs ROH PPV where wrestlers on either "brand" put aside their differences, don color-coordinated t-shirts, and battle to determine "brand supremacy."

  15. I'm still mad they gave up on the central conceit of Shotgun Saturday Night and had it from regular arenas after like three months. To me, that was the penultimate time that a WWE B/C show (not counting developmental) was really interesting (the final time was Attitude-era Heat, of course).

  17. I'm honestly thinking it's Mandy getting called back up to Raw/SDL (guessing the latter, especially since Banks appears to be gone). Also notable that I believe, Roxanne is the only wrestler to ever start the year as a ROH champion and end it as a WWE champion.

  18. Seriously though, Vince is one of these psychotic workaholics that probably doesn't have any identity/personality/interests outside of his job. While you work that's the recipe for being super successful. Once that work is taken away though... It appears he's currently at the 'bargaining' phase of processing the loss of his job and realizing he's never going to work again.

  19. Sasha shows up, goads Jade into some kind of match, and cheats to win and ends the streak and maybe even takes the Baddies with her. Simple and effective. And Jade chasing Sasha means Jade now gets to work against an all-time great but having to do so by coming from underneath, which means she will hopefully grow and improve as a worker. She’s fine now as the overwhelming athlete force of nature but that has a limited shelf life. At some point, Jade is going to have to be in a competitive match and might as well have her in there with someone who is a great heel with a huge level of star power.

  20. As a massive Hayter Lover (shirt idea?) I can definitely get behind this in theory, but in practice: this might be a waste of money and Sasha. I see the story you want to tell (and its a good one) but FAs on her level don't come around often enough IMO to warrant such a bold experiment/deviation from the norm. And let me attempt to say this in a way that isn't incendiary toward any of the performers or management: Personnel-wise, it seems to me like if this kind of angle isn't handled very, very carefully, it could easily end up turning into an express train to 'Doesn't work for me, brother' with a layover at Mindy's Bakery

  23. We would legit be to the point where you can do a Foreign Army (Saraya, Sasha/Mercedes, Toni, Ruby) vs. the Native Army which would include Britt, Hayter, and Jade for the first women's Blood and Guts. Problem is Tay and now Athena have already flipped to the heel side. Also, I am not sure where Rosa fits into all this.

  24. They are heating up Mandy Rose versus Roxanne Perez! It's Wes Lee taking on Stacks! They do some wrestling. Lee hits a COMPLETELY CRAZY TOPE CON HILO! Wes Lee procures a Headlock while we revel in the picture in picture! It's 1974! This is great! He keeps the headlock until Stacks gets him into the ropes and knocks him to the floor after the ropebreak- allowing Stacks to go on offense. Stacks does Chinlock Variations as go back to reg'lar screen! Stacks does a really fine Half Crab! Nice Backbreaker by Stacks! Stacks looks pretty good in this and it only feels like it's 60% Wes Lee making him look good. Lee hits a super flippy finisher for the win. That was pretty good. Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley take on Gigi Dolin and Jacey Jayne! Jayne does a Dick Togo Wheelbarrow Senton to the floor. Paxley hits a Piscada on everyone causing the DQ. It's Von Wagner! It's Odessey Jones! This is a lumbering hoss fight! Malik Blade CHEATS! Jones gets the pin! That was not very long. Ikeman Jiro! It's Javier Bernal! Jiro kicks him in the face a couple of times and hits a Toprope Rana and gets in another kick to the face for the win! SKRYPTS CHARGES THE RING! He now has Jiro's coat! Awesome! Brutus Creed takes on JD McDonagh! This should be good. McDonagh lays it the fuck in! McDonagh takes a superfluously crazy bump over the top rope to the floor. GREAT Suplex on the floor by McDonagh! Another SWEET Suplex and THAT'S THAT! That was weirdly squashy. It's Lyra Valkyria! She's actually Irish! Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn are both Scottish (thank you, cagematch.net). Amari Miller is here to get pinned, I assume. Valkyria looks great. Seeing her and Isla Dawn for the first time this week has been pretty awesome. Damon Kemo and Duke Hudson go at it! Kemp is the most Steinerly of everyone in the current WWE. Kemp isn;t being very Steinerly in this, as he is just here to make Hudson look good. Hudson has good punches. A Big Boot and that;s the end? Geez! Poor Damon Kemp. It's Roxanne Perez and Mandy Rose for the belt! I loved the mirror section! Mandy makes with the Psicosis bump and takes a Tope from Perez! As we go to picture in picture, Perez is our sympathetic babyface who is now being beaten to death by Mandy Rose. Rose is such a good Ric Flair. Roxanne is her Ricky Steamboat. Top Turnbuckle Rana by Perez but Rose cuts her off by slamming her on her face! Mandy sinks in a GREAT Shoulder Submission that Perez finally turns her over. V TRIGGER BY ROSE! FOR TWO! Small Package FOR TWO! POP ROCKS ! FOR THE WIN! ROXANNE PEREZ IS OUR NEW NXT CHAMPION! Oh man! I was just about to say that this was kind of a crappy episode and THEN! THIS! So fucking good! That's AWESOME. Mandy Rose is too awesome to not get called up. But Roxanne Perez needs to get called up. Hell, everybody in that Ironman Match needs to get called up. HHH! HHH! HHH!

  25. My first memories of joshi are probably Megumi Kudo and Combat Toyota matches on Kazaa. My second memories are a killer cheap Comcast On-Demand PPV from like 2004 that had a fuckin' ton of LCO in it (that shit ruled and I would buy the tapes right now if I saw em). My third memory was reading some long blog post about Takako Inoue. It's been the same story with her since day one - she's helplessly pretty, Double Inoues ruled, she could actually work, and her legacy was held back by being pretty good in an era of Hall of Famers. Seen a lot more tag matches of her than I have singles so this is appriciated. I tried to cut the entrances to save myself time but there’s no getting around the goofball glory of what Dynamite Kansai wears to the ring. She looks like an Ultraman villain getting into a fight with the back of a drying machine. It’s dazzling, and as goofy as it is it still gives you the idea that Kansai is taking this one seriously and Inoue is gonna die. But that’s not the case. Because this is JWP and Inoue is the outsider, the expected face/heel dynamic is all backwards. They start with a real traditional shine-to-control-segment and it’s jarring to see Inoue being the one to grab submissions and lay in the stiff knees, but Takako is competent and Kansai was always a plus performer when it came to making faces at the camera. So yeah it’s a weird flow but they ride the waves well. Kansai’s attempted comebacks are stiff and nasty and hurty, Takako keeps regaining control with sneaky-but-not-heelish stuff, and the match starts to be about Takako being just a little bit tougher than Kansai reckoned and trying to stem the tide. I feel like that might be a pattern in a few other Takako singles matches… Inoue’s strikes are pretty good, her knees especially, and it’s what she uses to keep herself looking like a credible threat. They’re also Kansai’s opportunity to regain control, because once they start trading strikes it’s an absolute wipeout. Inoue actually gets some heat on herself after an opportunistic powerbomb off the apron, loses it with a helplessly crummy Apron Nodawa Otoshi MDK (mighta been on Kansai for not wanting to bump for it), then gets it right back cause her flying knee to your head (Destiny Hammer? Takako Panic?) always looks REAL good and the crowd was smart enough to know it was coming. Seriously, it's a great move and I don't think anybody's stealing it these days. Get on that. After that gets a close two-count the crowd gets a lot more involved and allows them to hit a higher gear. The ref gets REALLY animated here, slappin the mat like Kobashi and rollin’ around like an alligator. Anyways after some nearfalls it’s the usual disgusting Kansai kick to the face and nobody kicks outta Splash Mountain. The better match would almost certainly have been Kansai stomping the shit out of a resilient Inoue in an AJW ring. This came off as a spirited but hopeless attempt from a mandatory challenger who was looking for a fluke win. But that’s what they were working with here, and it was evident enough that they were having the match they wanted to have. Good fun if you want something a notch more casual than the epics of the era, a bit more scruffy what with JWP’s indy vibes.

  27. It's the end of the recording cycle! This is from 11/4/2022! I don't think I've seen Miranda Vionette before. Tay Melo hits a Josh Woods German Suplex where you start very low. And THEN she applies one of them complicated Brazillian submissions! Cole Karter! Big Shotty! The HEAT MACHINE QT Marshall! Joes Keys, Chris Steeler and LSG! NICKY BOY is ringside! Lee Johnson is way more fun coated in EVIL! He should join the House of Black so he can be around his finance! MANLY BEEL by Cole Karter! Karter is a freakish athlete as he hits a SWANK Standing Dropkick. LSG is a HOUSE AFIRE! Until QT Marshall murdalizes him and lets Cole Karter get the pin. It's Zack Clayton. I'm not familiar with Steve Pena. Pena gets a couple things in and the crowd COMES ALIVE! Then it's over. Kip Sabian takes on Tony Deppen! Deppen is making way up the list of Kings Of AEW YouTube! They do an EXTENDED Arm Wringer thingy! Noice Springboard Dropkick by Sabian. Deppen hits a nice Northern Lights Suplex for TWO! Neat Arabian Moonsault to the floor by Sabian! Sabian's Psycho Driver isn't that psycho but it gets him the win. SLIM-J! JEEVES KAY! Parker Boudreaux is the NICKY BOY of the Trustbusters! Eddie Kingston! Ortiz! Slim J is awesomely old school Southern, covering his ears while the crowd is chanting. Oh man, this match is great. Slim J is awesome. Slim J is the New King Of AEW YouTube! Jeeves Kay is really good. Jeeves Kay and Slim J are the slimiest version of Workhorsemen EVER. Eddie is still going crazy after the match because this was two weeks before Eddie/Akiyama and Eddie's change of heart. That was fun.

  33. At some point in the future, I will be sharing more of what I know about this. In case you don't know, I have a thread on PWO that drives deep into the early years of NJPW. Once my laptop is fixed, I will be able to resume research and writing for the next post, which will cover Inoki's 1974 match against Kintaro Oki but will start with a bio of him. It will include the story of how he came into the territory with JWA backing in 1965 and how Jang Yeong-chol killed his career by exposing the business.

  37. Yes, considering that they did a face vs. face match between two women (Ruby Soho and Statlander) and the fans were solidly to say the least behind the person who was homegrown. That and they leaned in that direction in the build for Britt vs. Saraya.

  38. First two matches were a little longer than usual and both pretty good. Robbie Rocket looks like a good new addition. Loved how much spotlight was put on Kandi Krush with the big storyline, the match, and the promo. Hilarious how McClane kept insisting that Kandi only *thinks* that Chainsaw did it but she doesn't know. I liked Ice Cold/Foxy, both were doing and trying some unique things. The slingshot in to the ropes ruled. Penelope/Chella was good stuff from 2 of the best, great finish! Main event was awesome. Fittingly built up with an epic big fight feel. Miami Sweet Heat double topes is the best. Didn't expect the heel turn swerve finish but that was cool. Absolutely loved the Tonga Twins no selling the double mirror smash due to powerful heads. Miami Sweet Heat look good as champs, hope they have a nice reign considering the history of those titles
