  5. Great show I'll have more serious thoughts later. I really wish they would lean into the "Toni Storm and Jayme Hayter were former roommates" a lot more as the personal conflict for this feud. That stuff is so relatable. Did Jamie stiff Toni on the water bill after she was "going to visit her boyfriend in Portland for the weekend" and never came back? Did Jamie have months of resentment building up because Toni would use up all the Almond Milk and not replace it until she could run to Whole Foods? Did one of them decide to make a "funny" Wifi name that hurt a former roommate's feelings? I WANT TO KNOW!!!

  6. Great opener. I loved the little Road Dogg/Bret spot from Dax and Colten. And I thought the Acclaimed having their music played and Bowens getting the pin was a really nice bit of booking to elevate them a bit closer to FTR's level (as very few are) MJF promo was great. Not sure if this aired on the podcast, but I've got friends who listen that aren't wrestling fans, and I'm really curious to see their reaction to MJF (with or without promo). I wasn't a big fan of the distraction finish in Kingston/E Page, but loved the match overall (and that Ego's edge off the top rope on was wild, Eddie is a nasty man). But, I gotta agree with my better half on this one: "I'm getting really tired of Eddie losing." Squash was fine, but my stance remains the same: keep Wardlow the hell away from the mic at all costs. Great post-match angle with the Joe turn, and I LOVED Hobbs saying "I'll get you too, Joe!" I guess we're getting Wardlow/Joe before Wardlow/Hobbs, which is kind of backwards from what I thought would happen (I thought Joe's turn would come in costing Wardlow the TNT title vs Hobbs). Maybe they're going to unify the ROH TV/TNT titles (though I think it's wishful thinking on my part, it seemed deliberate that Joe didn't pose w both titles). Some genuine emotion in that Saraya/Britt promo. Delivery was shaky at times but completely understandable. It was a really interesting dynamic with Britt being a heel yet playing the loyal defender against the invading threat in Saraya. That kick to set up the DDT was a little rough but I think hitting the mic at the end wrapped it up nicely. And I agree with all saying this was the best promo from her since her arrival for sure. Give me more promos like Best Friends' here. From them and everyone else. In fact, just give them Rhodes to the Top's timeslot and let em do whatever they want. I liked Trent/Lethal but huge LOL at Satnam getting dropkicked and just… stepping off the apron. I liked a little bit of Jarrett's promo but yikes at the lack of reaction for that 'banana nosed circus' line. I was a little confused by the lack of guitar shot, not sure if that was a timing issue. im surprised Jamie gave Skye so much, but they worked really hard here. Skye will get there soon, but I'm starting to get nervous we're going to miss the boat on Jamie with this Saraya/Toni detour as far as Britt goes. I read recently that they were waiting for Rosa to return to turn Jamie for some reason ,which could be total BS (and I hope it is) The main event was fucking incredible. I love the way they laid this out. The way Sammy got the first fall was awesome. That was always my strategy for Iron Man matches as a kid in the old Smackdown games, and I'd always hoped someone would work that into a match someday-- though the shot itself scared the shit out of me with Danielsons head stuff (which I recognize is likely exactly what they were going for). Absolutely cannot say enough about this one. Crowd elevated things big time here, too. Credit where it's due, Sammy worked his ass off - and Danielson was brilliant as always. Looking forward to being in the house next week in WWE country, but it's going to be real hard to top this one. Best show in a good long while. Super hyped for Full Gear, and I expect it to deliver big, finally putting the last nail in the coffin of the spectre of All Out.

  8. I said that Roadie had a good match with 1-2-3 Kid, but Bret's match with 1-2-3 Kid on RAW was way better. Therefore, Bret wins. Moving on. (Seriously, what is up with Road Dogg desperately seeking attention by being outlandish and saying dumb shit on Twitter? This man is in his fifties and going out sad like this after carving out a good niche for himself as the talker of a mediocre tag team in an especially hot era. Just be happy with what you got, lesser Armstrong. It's more than most get.)

  9. Also, not sure the consensus, but I thought Saraya/Baker had a great segment. I'm going to Full Gear and while this match was initially a novelty, it's now become one I'm really looking forward to

  10. I dislike Sammy. But holy shit, that was a goddamn main event and it wasn't all Danielson. There was a brief moment or two that I thought the avalanche Ego's Edge was going to go horribly, horribly wrong.

  15. Also not sure about the Joe turn? Like Joe rules but that seems rushed? You had a nice and easy path of Hobbs/Wardlow and Joe/Cage THEN the turn…now it’s, what, Joe/Hobbs/Wardlow in a three way? I mean that will rule but what’s the rush?

  16. Keith Lee hates the Gunns! FTR! FTR! FTR! Austin Gunn is so fucking good. He is the Barry Windham of the Billy Gunn progeny. Cash Wheeler and Swerve Strickland are all slick in the ring together. This match becomes a SPECTACLE as all eight enter the ring! Then everything goes INSANE! I loved the Suplex off the top of the turnbuckle of Austin Gunn by Dax onto everyone! Then the FTRism kick in and then The Acclaimed hits their finisher! FTR should have Lariated the Acclaim after the match was over- but SOON. MJF talks some people into the door. Ethan Page is awesome as the angry stepfather coming to the ring. Page carries it over to the ring- as Page SO channeling late stage Larry Zbysko. Ethan Page isn't the new Ted DiBiase, he is the NEW Larry Zbysko. This match is fucking great. Eddie Kingston is bumping like a 26 year old in this. Oh man, I definitely have to watch this with the International Feed tomorrow. Eddie is channeling Tenryu again. NICE Everest Exploider by Eddie. This match is awesome! ETHAN PAGE GOES OVER CLEAN AS A SHEET! The REAL Push BEGINS! Awesome! I await the outrage on the DVDVR Message Board. Wardlow destroys Ari Daivari. They COMPLETELY miss Samoa Joe turning on Wardlow. OH NO! They are going to make it a TRIPLE THREAT match, aren't they? That ruins a fun match up, if so. What are these pants that Britt Baker is wearing? Saraya SHOOTS and it is very dramatic. That was a fun wad of pro wrestling. Trent! Jay Lethal! WHY NOT? Trent does the Curt Hennig bump! Jay Lethal is so fucking good. He is mauling the leg of Barretta like Ric Flair which I personally LOVE. Ric Flair was the greatest wrestler I ever saw every month for like ten years. I'm glad someone is emulating him. Trent is selling like Ricky Steamboat. Trent OPTS to go total Steiner and hits two beautiful Suplexes. I await Danhausen to punch Sonjay Dutt's balls into outer space. Lethal takes the third hurtiest bump a wrestler can take! Danhausen punches Sonjay Dutt's balls into outer space! LETHAL INJECTION! It's HEELS NIGHT in BOSTON! I think we are working towards Jeff Jarratt versus Sting, which will be fine. Jon Moxley channels Atsushi Onita, coming out to "Wild Thing" by X. I hope he cries. MOX is great on the stick. That was fucking great. Speaking of good promos, Danielson is awesome. Skye Blue is laying it in because God knows Jamie Hayter is going to beat the fuck out of her. Britt Baker CHEATS! in picture in picture! I don't think Hayter ever kissed Skye on top of the head so this is slightly less than optimal. Reba fulfills her DESTINY and gets kicked in the face. Fun nearfall with the Code Red by Skye Blue. This match is great! Skye Blue is laying it in like @Matt D was hoping. Jamie Hayter slaughterizes Skye Blue with a fucking HORRENDOUS Lariat. That was fucking great. Skye Blue is the new Jun Akiyama to the four pillars of the AEW Women's (Hayter, Storm, Baker, Thunder Rosa). I want her to wrestle Athena next. JESUS CHRIST! Bryan Danielson is beating the fuck out of Sammy. GREAT CEASAR'S GHOST! Sammy throws a chair and CRUSHES Danielson's head! Sammy Guevara IS Terry Funk! We go to a commercial and WE GOT BLOOD! SAMMY GETS A FALL! This match is fucking great! Great Crossface section by Sammy. Oh man, great kick to the face to counter Sammy trying to a Crossbody or something. Sammy beats the hell out Danielson after Danielson beats the hell out of Sammy in picture in picture. Tay is EJECTED! The crowd always loved that. I love wrestling. Sammy Guevara is wrestling this match like Takeshi Ono- a wiry tough little bastard. SHOOTING STAR TO THE FLOOR! LaBelle Lock! Poison Rana! WALLS OF JERICHO! KNEE TO THE TEETH! Crazy ass DDT! RINGS OF SATURN! WHAT A GREAT FUCKING MATCH! Oh man, AEW RULES THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD.

  20. My thoughts had gotten wiped a few days ago but they're pretty straightforward: I liked the Sammy vs Bryan singles match and my hope is that they don't try to go to the mat too much for this second one unless it's Danielson stretching Sammy out of spite. It should be a lot of counters, a lot of rope running, a lot of big set piece spots, as both press each other to the limit. That's not the Danielson match I want with everyone but that's the heel Sammy/face Danielson match I want. If the roles were reversed then Danielson taking out his hatred of social media on Sammy's face would be more in play. 8 man tag is all about the big moment of whether or not FTR will do the scissor gimmick or not. Milk it for when it matters most and have grumpy Dax give in to the feeling after the hot tag. We don't get a ton of 8 man tags in AEW (some Dark/Elevation Factory/Dark Order/Wingmen stuff aside) so this should be fun. Obviously I'm the high vote for Skye vs Hayter. I just hope it gets enough time to be competitive and they throw fists/forearms/feet. I haven't seen everything Kingston did in the 2010s but I did see the Ethan Page AIW feud for the most part (which was pretty good in a "Here is where Ethan Page becomes a man" sort of way, but then falls off after he does become a man due to some chicanery and gimmick goofery with a heel manager). I love how they worked the history into the promo. I think we all know that Eddie loses his cool and gets DQed, right? The journey should be good though. I hope Eddie has a direction for the PPV. I had thought it'd be Pac but who knows now.

  21. I said this before, but the getup she had on in AJW when she wrestled Lioness Asuka IIRC made her look like a real big deal. She looked like the embodiment of a female Ric Flair more than Charlotte. The wrestling ability...not so much. However, she looked like a star. She also looked like a MTV video vixen. That would have played huge with the demo that Sable and Sunny would eventually get 9 or 10 years later.

  22. The kicking of the leg by Sammy while getting the elbow is such a great sell. The little things while struggling or taking punishment can take the moment to the next level. — haha, I was just gonna message you that I was gonna use that picture!

  23. Dark is awesome this week! Athena has been acting like she's pissed off and unprofessional in every YouTube match recently and it is awesome. Ortiz and Kingston are teaming up regularly on YouTube and it is exactly what you'd hope for. Storm & Shida vs Emi & Mei ths week! Main event this week is Claudio & Yuta vs Bononi & Nemeth. Best of all, PRETTY PETER VS BRANDON CUTLER! FINALLY! And it is amazing. Both guys bump like crazy. I don't wanna build it up too much, but Avalon vs Cutler was a hundred million times better than Austin vs Bret at WM13. Too bad for Danielson and Garcia that they are up against a force of nature in DEAN'S POLL this week. Saraya and DMD and the Jarrett promo were pure Burger King bullshit. The reward for getting through that was Dump Truck and Dragon, though. So: Worth it. So worth it. Who was the first wrestler to get scissored? Speaking of which, AEW should call him "Daddy Glock" to see if he can get over. Samoa Joe is become, is become, is becoming

  27. Another week of watching in a hotel room, this time in Little Rock (headed there for a conference). I’m most excited about Hayter-Skye, they meshed really well together last week and I think if they’re given some time it’s going to make Hayter look like a bigger star while elevating Skye in defeat.

  28. Ah man, you caught me in the two seconds before I remembered which match I was missing and did a quick edit! To expand upon that a little: the reason I was surprised it went long/Jamie was so giving is because, while I like Skye a lot, it baffles me how crisp she can be on certain offensive moves, but clunky on others. I'd have to watch it back, but I liked the opening punches by her, I thought some of her kicks looked really nice, Canadian was a great job by both of them - but literally in the same match there was an Enzeguri that looked like she got into the gummy bears marked "WARNING: NOT FOR CHILDREN." As for the second part, this is how long Jamie's been ready to turn on Britt: I remember talking about "Ah, it makes sense not to turn her here, so close to Wardlow's turn on MJF since they've got a semi-similar deal going on." Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was what, March or April now, and we're almost halfway through November? That's why I'm hoping it's fake newz about waiting for Rosa to return to turn Jamie. It's just not going to have the same gravitas if Jamie turns on Britt after she's already faced and possibly beaten Toni for the title, but it seems like that's the only way its going down, unless Britt costs her here somehow (but again: I really think you have to go with her here).

  32. Was about 2/3 watching the first half and missed most of the opener, so I'll have to do a rewatch Sunday on my DVR. MJF talks in his natural voice and meanders and I was mostly catching up with Texas football stuff during that segment because I don't like him and I hate that he's going to win. Kingston-Page was a very good match but at some point they're going to job Eddie to the point that beating him isn't a big win to get someone over. I was terrified for that top rope Razor's Edge, but they worked it pretty perfectly. Wardlow squash, fine. Joe turn with no build (no matter what the announcers said), fucking awful no matter how good the match will be. Lethal-Trent was awesome. Both are on that list of 20 guys you could say are in the top 10 AEW wrestlers. Jeff Jarrett once again kills my buzz and took another 10% off my goodwill towards AEW (only 10% because they did explain why he would be with Lethal and Dutt in a way I didn't think about). Saraya-DMD was too long and too shooty, even if it was some good back and forth. Too much fucking tweener stuff going on right now. Mox gives another amazing promo, he's miles above MJF on the stick (and in the ring). Mox knows who he is, and he's going to give it to you straight every time. Hayter-Skye was a slugfest and I for one was glad it was competitive because Skye is earning a higher spot on the card. Jayme still looked like a million bucks beating the shit out of her, and that lariat was FUCKING NASTY and Skye sold that like she had been hit by a train. Danielson-Guevara was brutal, Sammy once again almost kills himself. At first I thought the chair throw shot was incredibly reckless, but replay at the end showed that Bryan was ready and had his arms up. Sammy can take an ass-beating, that's for sure.

  33. MEGAPOWERS EXPLODE!!! Pretty good show this week. Bryan continues to top himself everytime out, loved Tay getting thrown out she's so good at that stuff. Trent v Lethal and Page v Kingston where both solid but featured the same finish back to back. Great stuff from Hayter and Skye Blue, loved the out of knowwhere lariet but Tony should have called the Code Red a Code Blue. And Poor Rebel always getting hit in the face evertime out. MJF is kind of figuring it out as a main event player, but this just shows how good he can be when he's on. On the other hand the Sayara Britt promo did nothing for me. Maybe its cause I missed Sayara's entire career so I have no emotional attachment beyond Britt wearing jeans straight out of the late 90's and eye make up that reminded me of my college years where every girl suddenly decided to look like a racoon

  36. I remember New Age Outlaws lost the tag belts on PPV after a lengthy title reign, and the next night on RAW instead of not doing the intro, Road Dogg did it but just quickly and unenthusiastically added "(former)" before "WWF Tag Team Champions of the World!". Always thought that was cute.

  38. A year ago I attended WWE Live. I read the headline that WALTER was added to some UK Tour dates but you had to click to find out which. Thankfully he was on ours and it got better when it was announced he'd be in a dream match vs. Cesaro. At the time, WALTER rarely did house shows. Ditto for NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and Bron Breakker. WALTER vs. Cesaro was terrific as you'd expect with how great both are. I got to see my favourites in WALTER, Cesaro, Sasha Banks, Finn Balor, Sheamus and Shinsuke Nakamura. Turns out we got lucky because the next night Finn Balor was removed as an injury precaution so Cesaro vs. WALTER went to a DQ turning into Cesaro/Drew McIntyre vs. WALTER/Sheamus and the night after, Cesaro/Finn Balor vs. WALTER/Sheamus only. Reminds me of seeing DANIEL BRYAN at my first wrestling show in April 2015. Bryan would wrestle on the Smackdown TV episode a few days later and was pulled from the European tour. That Smackdown match would be his last retiring in February 2016 and getting cleared to come back in March 2018.

  43. Thoughts on Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular Jimmy Snuka made an early bid for MVP honors with a pair of ECW TV title defenses, beating JT Smith and Tommy Cairo. Superfly seemed miscast as a heel with Paul E. as his manager. Tony Stetson fended off Rockin' Rebel's interference to win a first blood match over Larry Winters in an "early ECW guys" special. The "Catfight Humiliation" match between Miss Peaches and Terrible Tigra was only supposed to end when the loser was stripped. Tigra said "no thanks" and got counted out. Before the fans could start chanting "WCW," an unnamed woman came to the ring and got stripped by Stetson and Rebel. Jay Sulli was the play-by-play guy, but then Joey Styles showed up for one match as a heel, even though he was touted as a Pro Wrestling Illustrated contributor. Sal Bellomo found new life post WWF jobber-dom. He dressed as a Roman centurion and called himself "Wildman" Bellomo. The fans loved it. Most Extreme Sign of the Night: KILL HIM Eddie Gilbert battled Terry Funk in a Texas Chain match massacre. Referee Kevin Christian didn't see Funk touch all four corners, but then Gilbert hit a piledriver and won the match. Christian was in cahoots with Paul E. and Gilbert. For being crowned "King of Philadelphia" in the most Memphis way possible, Eddie Gilbert is the MVP.
