  1. I know it's trite to point out that Claudio is a freak, but I get nervous these days when people need to lift Jericho. He helped Chris up with ease for that rana off the ropes. Thing of beauty. Jericho winning should be a boon to the "get ROH a TV deal ASAP, what's going on with ROH, has anyone heard anything about ROH" crowd. Doing media earlier in the week, MJF was saying the Road Warrior pop is now the MJF pop. Pretty sure it's the Acclaimed pop. Think they had the perfect finish after the boom box spot, cooled the crowd down for a beat going a bit longer and running into a blown spot. But all's well that ends well. Slim chance it was going to touch the sleeper success of the PPV match, but still quite fun. Ready for big things for Swerve after distinguishing himself during this reign and especially the PPV defense. I warned you all it was coming. Blackpool Cuckold Club~! Does PAC have the best current DDT bump? Maybe. Nice OChicanery with the legs straight up inviting PAC in. OC's getting closer, PAC's getting more desperate to avoid the losing the intensity vs sloth war. To be continued. In like eight months probably. Be careful not to get caught in a backslide counter around the Professor or she'll teach you a lesson. Also, don't attack the Professor when she's on the apron, if she has three opponents then she'll run through all three. Very high ring IQ. Bad break for Britt, hope it's nothing serious. Hope Saraya is able to handle any unfinished business she thinks she has left, since WWE wasn't gonna give her much. Good to see her. The Darby video makes me long for him to do one that's as overtly comedic as possible. This was good, but not quite all the way there. Regal isn't coming on to Ex, so that tells you it's time for some serious business. Some of the acoustics on those chops are wild, especially on the right corner on the camera side. Deathrider on the ramp was a great false finish. Loved Mox rolling rough the attempted counter of the choke off the buckles -- that'd fool a less experienced rassler, but not a highly seasoned Mox who's seemingly been in heavy training with Regal and Danielson. Bring on the Sting craziness on Friday.

  5. I don't know man. Is this show, in front of this crowd, in this unique setting, with Acclaimed touted as having "home field advantage" really less important than Full Gear or whatever? It's not Quake at the Lake or something.

  8. I sincerely think Bryan Danielson does not want to be World Champion and has told the company such. Maybe because he knows he doesn't need the belt, maybe because he doesn't want to steal anyone's spotlight, or maybe he knows he's one concussion away from retirement. But I don't think he went to AEW to be a champion of anything.

  9. Ocho Baby! Tony will get that ROH tv deal! Jericho/Claudio overdelivered by trying to outclubber Sheamus/Gunther for the first half and then getting very ambitious with their spots in the second half. I’ve always respected Jericho more than I’ve enjoyed his matches, but his AEW run has been undeniable. Silkin no-selling Jericho’s offense and walking back to his seat directly in front of the camera lens was incredible. The Acclaimed are what was actually good about the Attitude Era as far as creativity and responses. I thought maybe they lost the crowd when Caster couldn’t complete the first Mic Drop attempt, but they got the reaction they were looking for on the finish. Swerve is a world-class prick, great stuff. Damn Yuta really is Ricky Steamboat. Is Orange Cassidy ever going to arrive as singles wrestler or what? This felt like it should’ve been the payoff from the Revolution match that brought him full circle. Seeing Britt switch from oww my face mode to mugging for the camera was great. Hope she’s okay. Get Hayter away from Britt, why are we back where started? Hopefully they’re reestablishing her as a heel but she’ll be going solo. Maybe Saraya’s being brought in for some kind of role on the eventual women’s division show? She looked happy to be there. It wasn’t intentional, but the Bryan/Mox story has been the most consistent thing across this entire year and this all makes a lot of sense. Danielson’s injuries and the JAS feud sidelined him while Mox was making towns and bleeding in every one of them, so he’s kind of taken a backseat to Mox. Dragon overwhelms Mox from the start and beats the dog piss out of him so badly that Mox tries to switch to grappling, but it’s Danielson so that doesn’t work. Mox starts throwing desperation bombs, but Dragon’s got his number there too. Mox tries to murder his dear friend on the platform, and that doesn’t work. And Dragon’s unconscious again. Mox gave so much of that match to Danielson that it felt like he must be winning, but that was really good. Jericho/Claudio is my MOTN

  11. I'm not trying to be controversial, but in my opinion that was a pretty darned good professional wrestling television show. Really looking forward to reading our boy Natural's reaction to the main event over and over and over again for the next several years! (I was hoping for a Danielson win, too). (I don't feel like a Mox win is the end of the world, though). If MJF's fans are Devil Worshippers, does that make PAC's fans Oh boy was it cool to hear so many people erupting with joy for the good guy team winning the tag titles. Pro wrestling at its best.I Really curious what, if anything, the hater-by-nature crowd (here and elsewhere) are going to come up with to complain about for this show. I tend to enjoy almost everything that AEW does... But I really enjoyed everything on this show. That was a pretty much perfect pro wrestling crowd, too. And we have an awesome Rampage to look forward to.

  13. Booker T vs. Bret Hart from the 2/22/99 Nitro gets my vote for Bookers best singles match. Easily one of Bret's top 3 WCW matches too in my opinion. It might be the last great Bret singles match (other than the Benoit match from later that year). I can't find a version to link to in good quality unfortunately. But check it out if you can.

  16. Ok, some drunk thoughts. Jericho has taken a hellacious beating the past few weeks, although I think there were a few too many European uppercuts in the first few minutes. Still a fantastic match with a surprise finish, like others said my immediate thought was “Tony is going to get that ROH TV deal by hell or high water”. Jericho’s career year continues. Garcia’s lukewarm high five was a nice touch, honestly maybe better than him not being there. Good lord the pop for The Acclaimed was tremendous. The PPV match was much better, I feel like some of the moments in this match got lost, but I’m so excited that The Acclaimed, who I called early on (in my watching this past 13 months) as my guys, won the belts. Caster has gotten notably better in the ring as well. The story with Swerve and Lee is still in progress, I was on “Team Keith Lee finally becomes a monster and a heel” and maybe that’ll still happen. Swerve has been on the last couple months. And I think the cameras and announcers missed Swerve pushing Max off on the top when he “missed” the Mic Drop. Lastly, no offense to Daddy Ass, but I wanted a clean win. Yuta slapping the shit out of MJF and calling out his shitty promos was lovely. Also, HOW DARE HE lay a hand on Tony Schiavone! PAC/OC may be my MOTN, they did a really good job of getting over OC’s head games while also having a great match that told a good story. Doing a replay of the mostly missed PAC tope con Hilo was an odd choice. Women’s match was excellent for a 4-way, Deeb was maybe the star of this in terms of psychology and storytelling, Athena was the star in terms of physicality. I was convinced they had Deeb in there to eat a pin for Britt...but I was also convinced that Britt and Hayter split was going to happen. Matches are getting much better, angles are still a mess. I have no fucking idea who Saraya is, other than someone who was called Paige in WWE (and is that even right?). Why can’t we get a Ruby Soho push, or one of the up-and-comers? Main was not as great as their first match but still a great match, albeit tainted by the camera work in general and MJF shots in particular. No blood, but violent. More great storytelling and psychology. Shocked at the ending, honestly expected Dragon to win, and maybe a tad disappointed as well. They cut away from some BCC drama at the end, really hope they’re not ending the next thing they have going.

  17. Swerve heats up the joint. Keith Lee and Swerve were so fucking good here. I need to better understand what happened with Max Caster? 'Mad respect' for being able to bounce back and light the damn place up on the finish. Right on, gimme the Ass Boys and FTR! Asses were good here. I missed some stuff, but caught the end of the MJF-Yuta segment. I like that match. Only caught parts of OC-Pac, but what I saw was great. I missed the entire 4 way. Was it good? I did see Saraya. I understand she was out injured while under WWE employ, but was she having great matches prior to said injury? I've never seen her before. Great pop tho! I felt her stardom. Danielson and Moxley r great. The production of that match cutting to MJF so often, splitting the screen even, was fuckin' awful. Thankfully, again, Danielson and Moxley r fucking great. 'Cloudio' as Bryan Alvarez and, I think, Khan refer to him as - I would've liked a 'Cloudio' victory. He physically carried a big load of that bout, but Jericho's on a pretty fun run. Does it lead to ROH TV? AEDub is working it's way out of the weeds with a run of rockin shows.

  18. Women's Title match was good stuff and made me want to see more Toni vs Serena. Always liked Saraya so cool to see her again but they could have at least had her come out with a chair or something to chase off Britt and her crew because she was seriously outnumbered and outgunned. When Diamante kept teasing the original baddie, I didn't think she meant the real Baddest Bitch but here we are. Come through, Trina.

  21. I think the big surprise was Kevin Dunn directing. I mean I’ve had some rum drinks tonight but good lord way too many camera cuts and the main event was making me nauseous. Also, we really didn’t need to see MJF’s reaction every 20 seconds. Also, I enjoyed AEW better without him, he’s fucking Poochie to me.

  23. HERE WE GO! Chris Jericho is taking on the ROH Champion, Claudio Castagnoli! Jayzeus, Jericho is taking a beating a lot lately. AWESOME! Jericho Suplexes Claudio off the apron to the floor! Channeling Misawa/Kobashi is quite a risk at Jericho's age. Jericho is wrestling like it's twenty years ago, hitting a rana out of a toprope Ricolla Bomb! WTF. RICOLLA BOMB! FOR TWO! CODE BREAKER! Sorta. FOR TWO! BOSTON CRAB! GIANT SWING! Lariat FOR TWO! So this is what- four great matches in a row for Jericho? JERICHO CHEATS! A Low Blow and a Urican! NEW CHAMPION! That was good. The Acclaim is OVER in New York. KEITH LEE WITH A RANA! Keith Lee is a FREAK. Shane Strickland is SO fucking awesome. THAT's how you GET SOME HEAT! While we are in picture in picture, Max Caster takes an ass beating. Keith Lee is the superstar of this match as he goes up for a Bodyslam. Lee is the HEAT MACHINE! Lee does a BEAUTIFUL Moonsault to nowhere! A lot of stuff happens! The match is kind of a mess but the HEAT covers up for the wads of blown stuff. The crowd becomes MOLTEN as Caster hits the Toprope Elbow Drop FOR THE WIN! NEW CHAMPIONS! That was very heated but nearly as good as their first match. But it was still good. Jut not as good. Oh man! FTR and the ASS BOIZ~! THAT would be good too. Huh! Yuta vs MJF! That'll be good. JANE! It's the Bastard, PAC! Cassidy does well with athletic British dudes, bruv! Cassidy always tells a fun story. Pac hits a SUWA Dropkick off the top! Cassidy is such a great sympathetic babyface and Pac beats on him as we go to picture in picture. PAC hits two very nice German Suplexes while we are actually distracted by Flo from Progressive. Cassidy is fun on his babyface comeback! HE IS FIRED UP! P-COLA! PAC sells the DDT like a possessed teenage in a possession movie. That was fucking GREAT. This match is fucking GREAT. Orange Cassidy should just wrestle British dudes in Great Britain if he wins. PAC CHEATS TO WIN! He is a BASTARD! Cassidy is awesome when he loses to athletic British dudes! That was fucking great. Athena and Toni Storm are awesome together. Serena Deeb is wrestling for THREE! LITERALLY! This is bunch of stuff! Athena is fucking AWESOME as we got to picture in picture. Baker takes Athena out of the match by setting up Reba for a Lariat on the floor! Athena and Deeb were battling it out for the superstar of that match. Storm rolls up Baker to win and THEN THE REAL POINT OF THIS! BAKER AND HAYTER ARE FRIENDS AGAIN! THEY BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF STORM AND ATHENA! Annnnnnnnd It's PAIGE! Awesome! Has she wrestled in the last five years? I see that, per cagematch.net, she has not. It's cool that people remember her. That match was really good. The postmatch stuff was where the HEAT was. So that's a BIG win. It's our main event! I hope both of these guys win. AEW wins no matter who wins. Oh man, THIS match is fucking good. THIS MATCH IS MOTHERFUCKING GREAT! Man, they really need to stop cutting to MJF. DEATHRIDER! FOR TWO! MOX WINS WITH A SLEEPER! That was fucking GREAT. AEW RULES THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD.

  24. The new ROH World Champion, Chris Jericho. Jericho is now the oldest ROH World Champion ever beating Jerry Lynn. Jericho's earned that for his 2022.

  25. Poor Mox doesn't get a vacation. Great match, really enjoyed it. Does Dragon need the belt? Nah. But AEW could use MOX as champ for longer. Wheeler with a good promo with MJF. No Jim Ross, again (YAY!). Hysterical FITE TV commentary during the picture in picture. Jericho as ROH Champ is a wild sentence. Hope he holds it long enough to work small ROH shows. Lol. Tag Match was better on PPV, but this match was fun. Billy Gun. Baker Bleeds! Hope Saraya is healthy. MJF in the rafters has NEO GEO Fighting Game Fight before Geese Howard kinda feel, which is rad. But, to many cuts up to him. Shoot the wide angel more. Also, I'm over signs and belts in the crowd. AEW was trying a cool low angle panning shot (traditional camera side) and two idiots with WCW belts kept holding their belts up, and then later a Pokemon sign when they saw that angle on the big screen. Lame.

  26. This might be unpopular, I thought Grand Slam Dynamite 2022 was very disappointing. Don't normally feel that way about AEW but did here including All Out 2022. Acclaimed vs. Swerve in our Glory had a much better match at All Out 2022, the audible needed to be called then and there. Moxley vs. Danielson wasn't even close to the Revolution 2022 match, that was a MOTYC unlike this. The wrong guy won. The frequent shots of MJF watching didn't help either. I didn't like Mox kicking out of two running knees. Ending felt rushed, a common issue with AEW is timings. This wasn't worth watching live.

  34. Every match begins with a surprise attack instead of the "Code of Honor" handshake Countout at 10 seconds instead of ROH's traditional 20 Fans ejected for chanting "We want wrestling" When time limit expires, winner is determined by a dance contest, pie-eating contest or Super Posedown

  36. I'm anxious for Saraya getting back into the ring as I was with the signing of Sting. We've had some notable comebacks the past four years: Bryan Danielson, Sting, Edge, Christian and Steve Austin to name a few you thought would never wrestle again.

  37. I am a little behind in the show. But I figured out that Hulu has a Tivo type of thing so I could watch. 1) Jericho vs. Claudio was predictably great. My only thing with this match is that they could have saved this as maybe a main event for the show I am going to in Philly next week for the whole Philly As ROH home thing. The ROH titles are pointless but that was a good professional wrestling match. 2) They could have scrapped three first match to give the tag match more time. It felt a little rushed. It was a really solid match. No shame in not being as good as the first match because their first match was one of the best matches we’ll see all decade. Great to see The Acclaimed win because those guys are such a fun act. They are really figuring it out fast. 3) Man, OC/PAC was fantastic. OC reminds me so much of Eddie Guerrero during his Lie Cheat and Steal era. I was talking with Matt D about this — OC knows his character and let’s that drive the story of a match. That lets his shtick become strategy you can build a match and narrative around. Like a frustrated PAC having to resort to low depths to win over someone who was his in-ring better. 4) Ladies match was fine. Athena had some awesome moments. It is a shame that her character makes absolutely zero sense because she is so good in the ring. The Professor also looked really good. Britt is my favorite out of those four because of things like bleeding from her nose and wiping the blood on the person she just cheap shotted. Saraya was a historically important t figure in WWE as the first woman they took as a serious wrestler in maybe ever but she was also more good like Nattie and nowhere near as good as what came afterward .
