Man as a companion to the tape trading talk, how many other people used to do the two VCR deal to copy tapes they rented? I had a huge collection because of it. I would rent all the wrestling tapes at every rental store in my city. Id even get rides to out of town rental places to see if they had any tapes I didn't have. At a certain point VHS tapes had some sort of copy protection on them. Where the copy you made would be all scrambled like a PPV you didn't buy in the old days. But of course I still found a way around that. As if they thought I wouldn't test out ways around it. Two pieces of electrical tape over the copy protection square usually did the trick. I may have taken it too far. Because I eventually got a job at a Blockbuster. So I would go to stores and buy new VHS tapes. Copy them. Then take them to work and use the shrink wrap machine to reseal them and return them. I had an addiction for sure.

One of the best AEW promos ever. Christian Cage is great as a face and as a heel. Few can do both equally as well. Bryan Danielson, Eddie Guerrero and Bret Hart are three that come straight to mind.

Yeah, Luke Perry lived with the Arquette family when he moved to LA. He was especially tight with Alexis and David. If I’m not mistaken, Luke drove David to the hospital when he almost bled out from getting slashed with a light tube by Nick Gage. David wrestled JB a couple of years ago, and they had a sweet interaction afterwards.

I just marked out for an hour straight. I am kind of tired now. Hot damn, Cobb vs Cash was a MANLY battle! SEotW Cobb just overpowering Cash, yeeting him, surfing on him, standing moonsaulting him. Too aewsome. Then Cash just throwing rights to come back. You start out with an all-action spectacular, and end with pandemonium. That's how to do it. Andrade sprinting straight into the (square) ring post them sliding down was insane. And the SUPAHFLY and Roosh in the snazziest of white suits. I wouldn't mind me one of them there new t-shirts. "What's up baby? I love to fight!" ? I want Deeb and Luxury Auto to go full on Hokuto teaming with Kandori. They are about 80% of the way there already. They just need to throw in some slap tags and find a Kong and Nakano to face off against and bring out the full measure of mutual respect. Tully! Toa! Other dude! Oh yeah. Wait. Since The PPV is in Chicago (and at The United Center) I expect Punk will make an appearance. Nothing major. Just a promo saying he wished he could wrestle. Or awarding the interim title to the winner or something. Now I'm really interested to see what kind of t-shirt he wears if he does show up.

I love Christian Cage, and agree on the quality level of that promo. Your assessment is fair, he's a good babyface, knows how to work it, and is a legendary brand. But(!!!) babyface Christian is nowhere near the level of his natural heel act. Is it crazy to assume that at 48 years old that this may end up being Christian's best run?

Cobb vs Cash is more interesting on paper and you know there's got to be a fire under Cash to perform after the run Dax has been on, but Meltzer framed Andrade vs Fenix as a make good to the wrestlers for not being able to be on the PPV for political reasons, and if they were granted a MATCH instead of let's say a bonus, you figure they'd make the most of that.

Ended up watching, only a little buzzed, and GODDAMN that was phenomenal. Andrade-Fenix was just wild, Andrade was having so much fun he split his pants. Hard hitting, Fenix hitting crazy high spots, Andrade pulling out his old lucha tricks while being a solid base in true rudo style. Figured Roosh would make an appearance, and I’m totally good with Lucha Bros vs...what was it cartel ingobernables? I don’t want them to rush this Deeb-Martinez team split. I like it as a team, it’s a classic story and they need to get to them working together before they split them. HOOK SOLD! HOOK SOLD! GOD GAWD ALMIGHTY HOOK SOLD! backstage stuff: Assclaimed as great as ever, those LA dojo guys were good on Dark. Swerve in the Glory vs. some NJPW guys should be fun, and building more to their split. The Gresham/Moriarty thing (I don’t even remember who else was there) being straight up presented as a ROH angle was interesting. Assuming that and the Deeb-Martinez feud will move to a new ROH show. Main event was good and then it hit the homestretch and got great. And then the post-match brawl hit and it was even greater. AND THEN Kingston went after Jericho and I was just hoping it would turn into some bonus hour long arena brawl. Kingston just gets it and his eventual title build is going to to be money.

Golden Boy Tapes was quite a thing, he was the biggest dealer (besides Lynch, who is somehow still trading underground as far as I know). Years later I found an interview he gave (after he had shut down the site) where he said how much money he made and it was some stupid amount. I don't want to misquote it since I don't remember the exact figure, but tens of thousands a year. Which makes sense, I mean a blank tape is a buck in bulk and he was selling tapes for $20+. I had a deal with him for awhile on my old site where he sent me free tapes and I'd promote his website, same with IVP. Felt like a fair trade at the time.

He wasn't injured when he wrestled Takeshita in Prestige Wrestling last weekend. And he's way better that "that good".
