I've had a pretty shitty weekend and am looking forward to the PPV to give me a a welcome distraction. Hope everyone has a blast watching the show ?9 points

Here's the Buy-In. Hirsch/Statlander is good. EDIT: This is the best Rampage in like a month. This House of Black vs Death Triangle match is fucking great.6 points

Monday booked off from work and just woke up from a Sunday evening nap to get ready for midnight’s Buy-I’m to start. Bring it on.6 points

I like to think they'll bring Taker in for a cameo, in full gear, and RuPaul decides, "Nah", like LeBron did to him. What a dork.6 points

For all of the joy you spread. For the happy memories you have created for all of us. For the good times. Yes, for the frustrations also. Happy 50th anniversary, New Japan Pro Wrestling!!6 points

I'm at theatre waiting for the Buy-In to begin. It will be cool seeing this on a movie screen. I'm curious if I'm going to be the only one here. I'm off tomorrow, so I don't have to worry about getting up early.5 points

I know they've mostly only had Wardlow do squashes on tv. But he can hang with anyone they got. He's way more ready than they let on. He's less 2004 Batista teaming with Flair to learn and more 2003 Lesnar who could hang with Kurt Angle right out of the gate. The depth of the roster and the deliberate pace of their story telling is why he isn't working long competitive matches, not his lack of readiness. When they give him the green light I think a lot of people are going to be shocked just how complete of a performer he is.5 points

Thank you @twiztor, @Octopus, @John from Cincinnati, @Gordlow, @gatling, @Nice Guy Eddie, @BrianS81177, @Yo-Yo's Roomie, @(BP), @Eivion, @Zimbra and @Technico Support for wishing me a Happy Birthday and for the kind words. Appreciate that. My birthday was both similar and different, the former spent with my parents/little sister and different, a Batman movie at the cinema (really enjoyed it) and my best friend who is like a Brother to me coming up where I live. Both firsts. Went to my favourite place to eat, Pizza Pieces and got a piece of cheesecake with a candle on getting sung Happy Birthday which I didn't expect, kind of them to do so. Thanks again y'all. Paul xxx.4 points

If you went to a butcher shop, and that dude was behind the counter in a leather apron, you know good and damn well you'd know you are in good hands. Stop this shit, immediately.4 points

I loved that, but also loved it more when Deeb smashed Shida's trophy on her face. Ahhh, Deeb.4 points

I think you do MJF/Wardlow before MJF gets the belt. From a character progression standpoint, MJF needs to lose it all before his title run. Like, if he’s champ and he’s still working the same act he’s been working for the past 3 years with the ring gimmick and seconds interfering all the time…I just don’t think that’s going to be good for him or the show. Have him lose it all, hit bottom, and have to figure out how to win on his own. That’s an interesting spot to put him in. Can still be a sleazy heel, just different.4 points
-
I assumed he wasn’t going anywhere, but still, it’s good that they were able to keep him around. Hard to build any momentum when you’re constantly losing your most promising talent to other places.4 points

I could just see Vince's reaction if this were to actually happen. "God damn pal, these guys are amateurs! They call this guy Blackbeard but he doesn't have a hook hand, an eye patch or even a fake parrot on his shoulder!"4 points

Happy bday to my buddy, @The Natural! A very kind person and a good man. One of my favorite posters on here and someone I’m glad to have had good conversations with outside of here.4 points

Whoops didn't see you already made the thread! (Delete mine whenever possible) Preshow matches were short and solid, didn't expect either result there. Trey/Jake was a great X Division opener. My reaction was fuuuuuuuuck nooooo when Maclin turned on Rhino, destroying my hopes for Maclin's babyface future but I can dig Maclin being DTA Dont Trust Anybody too. The crowd responding with a chant of "Fuck You Maclin" was amusing. Influence/IInspiration was fun as they finally got to deliver and a surprise title change. Both teams looked good. Jonah/PCO was insanity. PCO still rules, loved the super frankensteiner. Had me wanting PCO to win even though I knew he wouldn't, but I'm glad the ending was fitting as Jonah had to really try to kill PCO to beat him. Great to see Shelley back - awesome match! Result never in doubt but still managed a couple killer near falls. Always love watching Deonna in action, good stuff here. TASHA STEELZ! Another excellent match following up last month's match and a great finish here. Well deserved moment for an absolute breakout star. Definitely did not expect the tag titles change here. Solid main event. Figured Josh would be back soon and that story would pick up where they left off. Another very good overall show with lots of happenings. Full results:4 points

I do not have enough consciousness left within me to properly praise Kingston vs. Jericho. I want to talk about how this is probably the best match-for-match US pro wrestling card I've seen in a real long time but that's beyond the reach of my fingers or mind. Anyhoo. Best match in AEW history? The best match of either man's career. 1995 King's Road Chris Jericho fucking rules. I had no idea. I had no idea there even was an idea to have. And despite all the AJPW signifying that went on during the match, none of it felt forced. None of it felt like a wink and a nudge. They just picked five really good colors to paint with. Every move felt like the right move in the moment. No blood, but my God the amount of Red - Taue loomed over that shit, that the apron suplex felt like a Nodawa + both guys worked the eye for their cutoff spots like it was the '95 Carny Finals with a month of killer weekly TV build and an all-time promo in front of it. I don't think I need to tell anybody why Eddie Kingston is just the super mega God of this wrestling shit but I really don't know if he knew if his eye really hurt or if he was selling, and neither did I, and neither should I. Never mind the dense '89 Tenryu vibes Jericho was leaning into before he switched to a cocky, overmatched heel, a '98 Tenryu preening through the grit. WAR IS JERICHO, BABAY~! Chris fucking Jericho realized he was getting scattered babyface reactions during those dueling chants + ad-libbed that push on Aubrey Edwards to get his heat back. A brilliant territorial heel/face wrinkle in the middle of a Top Ten Triple Crown match. I'm floored. There is no more MotY race for me, that's it, I'm good. Jericho's washboard vs. Eddie's washing machine? Best Shape Ever Jericho vs. Eddie's Dangling Gut was some Reuben-contra-Statue-esque imagery that belongs under glass with it's own dedicated museum security guard. Everything else on this card ruled but this is all I can bring myself to type about.3 points

I am fully expecting opening day to come and go with no baseball and for everyone at MLB to be kind of sadly surprised at how little anyone seems to notice because 13 new series dropped and Jake Paul farted on Keemstar and a bear got into an Aldi's to eat some bread and Aldi bear runs for president before we find out he's a Putin sympathizer and he goes on Rogan and eats Jordan Peterson and then we all love him again. And then when they do start up again, how few people even notice, and ho the few that want to watch won't be able to because by then their local RSN will be charging membership fees for games or locked out of the cable package or whatever. If nothing else this will be a good test case for the divide between the pessimists who say "nothing ever changes" and the pessimists who say "things have really changed this time." But don't worry, your local Onceler will be okay. He'll just buy your hockey team.3 points

Haha, I was gonna say I like the more intimate vibe. They're obviously avoiding the hard cam so as not to show a half empty arena while people file in.3 points

Yeah, got to be at work at 7am tomorrow. That sucks. But still got a couple people on their way over to watch. Will be fun.3 points

Let’s get a prop bet going on how much juice we get tonight. The dog collar match assuredly will have one or both guys bleeding. Bleeding has been a big talking point in Dragon/Mox. Hangman has bled in every title defense thus far. Blood is a big part of the history between Britt and Rosa, so it wouldn’t totally surprise me to see one of them get some color going, either.3 points

The freaks come out at night. Can't wait for the bloodbath in the dog collar in particular. Really should main event because there's no way unless it underdelivers that I'll be able to get as emotionally invested in any other match.2 points

There's about 10 guys on the roster right now that I'd like to see get a swing at holding the big one. But with how sporadic title changes are, I see maybe one or two getting it. I dont think Kingston ever gets a run even though I wish to hell he would. He would be the perfect guy for a "Mankind beating the Rock on Raw is War to win the WWF Title" moment.2 points

On last night's Wrestling Open, heel manager Sidney Bakabella was forced into a match he didn't want to have. So he threatened the company that if they didn't cancel the match, he'd do something really despicable. They didn't cancel the match. So he got on the house mic and started giving out Batman spoilers.2 points
