  1. Holy shit! If indeed that's @NikoBaltimore, thank you my friend. Love, Paul xxx.

  2. A wild Greek has been spotted! Yep, that's me alright. I also had a "Thank you, Coach Tony K!" sign that I kind of tried to show in the beginning, a "Remaster Sonic Adventure 2!" sign for my wife and of course this one. Tried to not spam these but once I got confirmation they were shown via Discord I stopped with them. I will say I thought the crowd was going to come off a lot quieter than they ended up sounding on TV. It's almost like production pulled a minor miracle in getting the mics setup correctly and the shots to not make it look as empty as the other side was. But it sure felt quiet in my section which is odd since I thought they would have tried to be more vocal considering they were on TV. But I can at least say nobody was an asshat and the people around me had a grand ol' time. I didn't pay much attention to the first few matches of Dark since I was busy making the signs in my seat. I managed to convince security that I was in a rush and didn't have time so they let me through with the blank signs. I guess they figured I was too much of a nerd to try anything stupid. I was delighted to see Sonny though even live I found myself heading to concessions during the Gunn Club match. I just can't get into them even though they're delightful heels. The one great thing about a venue like this with not as many people is merch was easily accessible and well stocked. And concession prices weren't too shabby either. It felt like watching ROH at UMBC Center and had that weird independent show vibe that happened to be on national TV. Yes, sir, that's me. Full credit goes to @AxBfor suggesting it on Discord and I'm just glad I thought to bring three sheets of poster board instead of two. Please know especially with recent stuff going on that you got a lot of people here that love and care about you. Keep your head up, fella. Love, Nick.

  5. I'll have more to say later one but even at 2am I'm watching back the show. I honestly thought I was a tad bit too far back for any signs to be visible. But not only were they but my ugly ass in the Godzilla face mask and glasses is in the middle and clearly visible when the hard cam is on. I feel self conscious yet at the same time really glad. The signs I hastily made while waiting at 7pm were thankfully pretty visible so that's cool. Hope that the intended people see it and know it's for them.

  6. WaitWAITwait. Trent Berretta is the best wrestler in AEW? Huh. Who knew? That match almost overdelivered as much as the Anna J/Jade Cargill MIRACLE MATCH. The key to Trent being awesome is how good his elbowing Nick in the head looked. Such a NOAH match. I await the Trnet/Bobby Fish match. Jon Moxley as the new Stone Cold is pretty great. Ethan Page was awesome as usual. HOOK! YAY! AEW RULES!

  8. (note, I'm quoting this then a separate post for the stuff on page 3) Well, Tony I'm here in DC and MAN is it cold out here! You have to be certifiably nuts to leave the comfort of your home but there were thousands of people here at this Rampage party! I'll be heading down to Cleveland but not before I make a trip to the National Zoo. I hear that the featured exhibit for this month are...get this...WEASELS! I'm Lee Marshall and this is the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report!

  10. Quick rundown: Page vs Mox: Objectively a good match. I wonder if they should have leaned into the hierarchy a little bit, but Mox, like Kingston is a guy who can get over with resilience. The announcers protected him well too, mentioning ring rust and even just getting used to the new weight. It just didn't necessarily feel like the perfect follow up match to Mox's promo the other night and how he was running through guys before he left. I probably would have appreciated it a little more if Page did some more cheating or if Sky was out there with him to help on some of the transitions/cut-offs. Like I said, though, in a bubble, this was a really good TV match. One thing I enjoy about Mox in AEW is that he nails the best part of the house style, how all of the big moves are earned and mattered through multiple attempts and counters, but jettisons the worst part of it, the complex, cooperative big moves that most wrestlers have. This isn't some BS where guys are trying to hit the Beach Break and the Panama Sunrise against each other. It's Mox trying to hit a clothesline and a double-arm DDT and a bulldog choke. Re: my earlier comments, I would have been ok with this ending right after the clothesline, but it's all ok and hopefully Page gets some momentum out of hanging so long against Mox. Hook vs Serpentico: Tax owes Serpentico a drink for going up for all of Hook's stuff like that. This was exactly what it should have been though I would have liked just a touch of comedy because that's the other thing Serpentico does well. The standing, lifting Redrum was highlight reel stuff. Jade vs Jay: Jade's best match. Probably Anna's best singles. It fell apart just a little towards the end with the lifting Queenslayer in the corner and what not, but in general, they did an excellent job. Great layout with Jade cutting Anna off repeatedly with her strength and Anna not really getting a shine or any run of offense until her big one towards the end. The first counter to Jaded came off perfectly. Countering the corner Dangerous Jay kick was AJPW stuff (Well, in AJPW, they would have just shoved them off after catching the foot but you get the idea). Anna had two moments I really liked, first when she appeared out of nowhere as Jade was posing early and second when she hit the forearm out of nowhere after the Silver/Jade pose off. I didn't buy into her Mark Henry promo though. Good idea, not feeling the delivery. Still, great showing for both.

  12. I’m loving all these little Trent bangers that are way more brutal that they should be. Moxley looks great and lean, good match and I loved the face off with Dragon at the end. Nice way of doing it with Bryan just waiting in the crowd. What more can be said about Hook? The guy was over as fuck with the crowd with every single move and was even popping all the guys on commentary with everything he did, HUGE STAR aura tonight. I can see Hook getting the TNT title sooner rather than later with how hot he is. QT’s “oh my gaaawwweeee” while being suplexed was hilarious. I love how we can witness Jungle Jack become a better promo right in front of our eyes with every show. That main event was pretty awesome. For two performers that are pretty much “rookies” in this business, the match was physical and perfectly executed, they should be proud of it. Anna Jay felt like the veteran in the ring which gave her an air of more extra confidence than usual and felt like she really stepped up. Silver and “Smart Mark” we’re great cheerleaders and together with the hot crowd made for a great atmosphere. Good stuff all around from everyone involved.

  13. That's probably the best I've seen Anna Jay and Jade Cargill look. Plenty of nitpicks but that was a surprisingly competent TV title match given their combined experience level. Silver as valet certainly didn't hurt.

  14. Hulk Hogan was both a union member (Screen Actors Guild) and a union breaker (snitching out Ventura to Vince). Sort of an angle to the whole "Hogan stopped a WWF union" story that even Bix didn't think of trying to hammer down. I'd imagine that Brother Bruti was the first vice president for the International Brotherhood of Hulkamaniacs

  19. I am more than okay with piling on the booker who was gifted the MSG debuts of Jushin Liger and Great Muta and decided "you know who needs to go over here? KENNY KING" As someone who was in the building that night, the ROH side of that show save for maybe the TV Title 3-way and the NJPW vs ROH tag title match up until the Enzo/Cass angle just kept draining the crowd energy that night. I genuinely can't imagine anyone who walked out of that building saying "that was a great night for ROH" and the general "evening of" consensus was that they blew their side of the biggest non-WWE show that NYC had seen in decades.

  24. Oh absolutely, Trent somehow now has super loud and brutal elbows. The three he gave in the corners at the start were thunderous. Don't know if we needed ANOTHER strike exchange after Moxley and Page but hey. Speaking of strikes, Page popping Mox in the face with those punches in the ropes in full closeup was fantastic. The Johnny Hungee setup for the Anna attack will be a great gif here in 3, 2, 1...

  25. Well, that was certainly a very entertaining hour of the professional wrestling. I was kinda worried about them putting two inexperienced wrestlers into a 10-minute-plus main event match... but that was really good! In particular, that counter from the Jaded into the Queenslayer was SWANK. And I agree that Hungee makes a fine valet. He was very entertaining in his role. Mox looks totally different now. Really striking. MOX VS AMDRAG?!?!?! YES PLEASE!!!!! Got a kick out of the Dinosaur Man growling "Apples!" Hey! You like apples? How do you like Apple Miyuki? Kind of selfish of Nick to put Trent over like that. What about all of the people whose hobby is moaning and bitching about the Young Bucks? What are they supposed to type about today, huh? "Yeah. From Venice. I've heard about those." ? "Knox is always in the way" ? That senton onto the ramp sounded SICK. I loved the Billy Robinson shout-out during the Hook match. And we get another sick ramp bump. This is ramp-age baby! I missed our boy @NikoBaltimore' sign. Hopefully someone can screen-cap it. Looking forward, as I said, to his Road Report. Looks like you made the right decision, buddy!

  30. My take would be that I don't think we actually know why Rush is leaving AEW, and it seems kind of distasteful to speculate that it's about his personality, particularly considering that no details have been released. I'd also argue that neither side owes us any details. Anyway, word on the street is that Pretty Peter Avalon, Joey Janela, Brian Cage, and Marko Stunt are all working on soon to be expired and not yet renewed contracts. I'd assume Cage is the best bet for anyone who is hoping to hear trash talked about Tony Khan or AEW after their release. I enjoy watching all of those guys, Avalon in particular. I enjoyed watching Rush and Swole. I wouldn't mind seeing any of them back in AEW, permanently or as a one-off. I hope they all benefit from the exposure and experience, regardless of whether they are complimentary or critical on their way out the (forbidden) door. I also think AEW will be just fine without them.

  31. I don't think it's grandstanding. That implies he's doing it for show when he's obviously willing to lose serious income and exposure over such issues. He'll get labeled as impulsive and difficult to deal with, but it sure seems to me like he just wants Black people to be given their opportunities and treated fairly. Khan was unprofessional but because he has the power and wealth, it's okay.

  32. Who is producing the women's matches for AEW? Because I for one think whomever needs a big raise. I heard Tony on Busted Open talked about Anna Jay, how she was on the initial small crew in Jacksonville post COVID and that really helped her develop. And Johnny was awesome last night as her second/valet

  34. Highlighting Action/IWTV's Southeast First from Tyrone, GA BOJACK, BK Westbrook, and Diego Hill vs Bobby Flaco, Brogan Finlay, and Ashton Starr -- my first time seeing BOJACK and Hill, and my God, I'm on board. BOJACK takes up about as much space as Mark Henry but he's pretty young looking and he's got one of the nicest (big) running centons I've ever seen. He has awesome presence and seemed to know how to use his size to tell the story without coming off too brick wall in his youth. HILL on the other hand seemed to be everything people like about Swerve without being the least bit mechanical or cold; his kicks are fast as hell and well varied, and he showed great fluidity running the ropes and flying... I have said before that BK Westbrook reminds me of the late Jimmy Rave and I'll stand by that after seeing him again. He's just got a confidence that is bound to rub people the wrong way and his look is, well... jimmy. He does an awesome twisting sliced bread off of BOJACK's back, but his aura is that of someone who doesn't care if you cheer him... On the other side of the ring, Brogan continues to impress. He's still finding his place as a humble wrestling prodigy, but he is without a doubt the guy to watch. He's not his dad or his brother, he's his own person and he knows it and it's cool to see. Bobby Flaco does everything so well and natural, there's something old school (think RnRExpress) about his presentation, but he pulls off stuff that really makes me wonder what anyone sees in Mustafa Ali. And although Ashton Starr was maybe the weak link in this match, he's got great charisma and doesn't come off as a sissy despite his flamboyant appearance; his meteora on BOJACK looked great since he actually had room to land his knees on BOJACK's mass-o-plenty...This match wasn't long but it really has to be seen; all 6 of these guys come off as the future of indy wrestling. I'm glad the match climaxed with Brogan and BOJACK as the last two men in the ring and Action would be smart to keep these two together on the regular. The handshaking after the match just shows where their heads are at (in a good way), and the finish has got to be seen.

  36. Ok, on to 86 NJPW for a while at least. I'll explain more of why I want to do this when I hit the actual 86 matches, but first I have to get through my homework. I realized in starting cold in 1/1/89 AJPW that I was missing some context which is why I went back to earlier things at times. Here, I asked my pay Elliott who posts on PWO and elsewhere to give me ~10 matches to watch to warm me up. You can see the reasoning in spoilers. I'll double back for Inoki/Hansen (I'd seen them in 76/7 or so but not 80), but I started with: 9/25/80: Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Kengo Kimura: 30 minutes. Two guys in black tights, with similar hairstyles, that I'm not exceptionally familiar with. When some 80 NJPW TV got unearthed a year or two back, I watched a bunch of Fujinami vs foreigners matches that they ran a lot, but I don't have a great sense of Kimura, and I was watching this on my phone while on a treadmill after all. And it was tough. You watch enough and you learn how guys move, but here, all I had going for me was Fujinami's taped up hand. That said, the match was very, very good, tight matwork with a struggle that would fit well into the French stuff I watch. Though overall, it was less complex than that. The first third had a lot of in and out holds. When they built up to bigger spots, it wasn't the sort of suplexes I'd expect out of 1980 Jumbo but instead moments of scrapping in the corner or just a hold that locked in a bit more. They escalated into longer holds in the middle, just really working them with looks of pain and tight wrenching. I'd say that Fujinami had a real advantage throughout along these lines including the best hold being a simple grounded double wristlock which Kimura was selling like death. Things finally escalated further into some meaningful rope running, hit and missed dropkicks, and a Kimura belly to back out of nowhere before rolling into the stretch with dives and missed dives and blood and chaos, and some exciting nearfalls, both countout-wise and a pin after a Fujinami suplex back into the ring, and ultimately ended in a double KO which was way more satisfying than a time limit draw. Long story short, very good stuff both in the moment and finding a throughline, but I can already tell you that I have a long way to go. With absolutely no context, 26 in the 80s DVDVR set feels too low for this, but I can understand the matwork, both the first phase of it when they were trying a lot of different things and the second where they really grinded down, wouldn't be for everyone. It does bode well for the rest of the decade I guess!

  37. Tori talks quite candidly about her ring rust, doubting her abilities at that point, and the feeling of not quite being ready during that time period. so yeah, she definitely wasn't ready to lead super green Sable, which only really happened because I believe they suddenly switched plans from Luna to Tori for Mania. the main was pretty good. So happy for both ladies.

  41. Trent with a huge win! That was a good match. Anna Jay had that one opportunity to take Jade out with that choke and she almost made it count. Jungle Boy is a damn good promo for someone who's supposedly a bad promo! Ok, so Marshall will be getting suplexed each time Hook is out there, right? Rosa-Martinez should kick a decent amount of ass! Moxley looked good. Danielson and Mox have a history. This shoud be interesting. Ok, did some of you flash "The Natural" sign on camera during the opening match?

  42. Yeah, Rocky got pulled for I believe Covid (should be above or in the main thread). Great show. A bunch of really good finishes, I'd go: 1. Mox/Page. Vicious 2. Jade/Anna. Clever 3. Trent/Jackson. Sudden and final and then the Hook match was just perfect in all ways. Plus Nick Jackson splatting on his face and Serpentico looking like "Serdentico" on the screen which I'm sure will be on Botchamania. With all that a fellow poster did something interesting at the show too, though...

  43. Yes. Romero has COVID. Main event was fine at a glance but when you bring into their combined experience being under 100 matches, that was impressive.
