  1. People will say "hey Bayley isn't a licensed referee" but isn't the whole point of being a Karen that you can enforce any and all existing or non-existing rules and laws because you feel you are entitled to that right?

  3. It's just a TEW 'diary' based on ECW surviving with a HBO show, over on EWB. I seem to remember DVDVR not being too big on that stuff in the past, and 'defunct pro wrestling fan-fic' is probably the lamest possible sort of fan-fic, so I don't really talk about it, but hobbies is hobbies.

  4. If this means drunk Jericho will never appear on Talking Shop with his shit characters ever again, this is a massive win.

  6. So there was some real shitty camera work (like the camera catching that Rey was like, half a foot away from that step when his "eye" was ripped out by getting pushed in or something..., being dead centered on Kari tossing Asuka the mist packet) There was some real good wrestling on the show. There were some REAL shitty finishes on this show. Is the Fiend Champ via murder now? I'm real torn. I'd like cinematic matches to be over so we can stop getting shit like this where Bray thinks he's the most creative artist in wrestling history. On the other hand, they keep him the fuck out of the ring so, yeah.

  7. I like Anderson and Gallows just fine, but they’ll get more play in Impact so I’m happy they landed there. Their eventual clash with The North has strange appeal to me.

  8. yeah okay Matt D, settle down. I'll take Gallows & Anderson over Butcher & The Blade, sorry.

  11. God, he looks 10 years too old to be in the state championships. Imagine being some 17 year old pimpleface and having to wrestle that guy.

  12. Even then, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're two different things. The key for writing good children's entertainment the whole family can enjoy is getting into the sweet spot of "Children want to be treated like they're adults, adults want to feel like they're a kid again." You can hit that sweet spot with a more family-friendly product if you actively try to work at it. Likewise, the "more adult-oriented show" claim is also the problem, since Heyman's run on Raw not being very good showed the problem. The Attitude Era was unpredictable, gave you a feeling that anything could happen, gave you a feeling everyone on the roster was important in their own way, and it felt like it worked. Most of the people who want the Attitude Era or a more adult-oriented program back, however, have been blinded by "Blood, swearing, and scantily clad women"- all the things that wrestling got away from for good reason, and it showed in Heyman's era (the Lashley/Rusev/Lana storyline was the most maligned thing of Heyman's run. Let the record show that storyline was also the single most Attitude Era storyline WWE has done in a long time.) For those things, it all makes sense. Blood no longer works because fans have made it clear they want the wrestlers to be as safe as possible in the ring. Scantily-clad women no longer work because the fans have made it clear that they want the women's wrestlers to be treated with respect, and every fan can realize "ten little girls who want to be Becky Lynch when they grow up" are far, far, far, far, far, (there's not enough fars to really fathom how far this is) more important than "Hollywood Cybernetico in a raincoat." Even swearing could be used, but right now they use it right and have turned them into a high spot. (any time someone says as little as 'bitch' on WWE right now, it's seen as special.)

  13. It has felt like WWE is in a holding pattern since the pandemic shut everything down but this is also a slight reckoning for their booking style. They've had no competition and floundered. Slammiversary felt like a far bigger deal this weekend and Impact is a shadow of what it was. These finishes are so bad, especially back to back.

  15. I'm of two minds on Sasha these days - I truly respect her dedication to the craft, but it felt like, in terms of being able to execute the spots in her match, she more-than-once wasn't quite where she needed to be. (In this case, the series of flips and rollups towards the end of the match - far too often it was just looking like she and Asuka were tumbling for the fun of it. )

  16. I submit this show as a contender in the good wrestling with absolute dog shit finishes Olympics. Cesaro did fucking plant Kofi with that powerbomb though.

  17. Yes i guess the main thing we got out of the match is that if you want to distract Braun try to have him focus on his sexual fantasies with Alexa Bliss?

  18. Ummm.... WWE can't book a straightforward finish (or any finish) to save their lives but great match while it lasted and NEW RAW Women's Champion!! (for 24 hours)

  21. Yeah, I have no clue why AEW is supposedly still borrowing trainees for extras and using rings that Chasyn Rance owns when Shawn Spears has his own school in Florida, and is on their payroll, but hey, I'm just some dude on the internet.

  24. https://youtu.be/jg3NX_MAeiE BLUE DEMON vs L.A.PARK Mano a Mano Lucha Estelar Extrema 1/Oct/2016 Youtube won't allow this one to be embedded for some reason. LA Park treats Blue Demon like a human pinata who is full of blood for a few minutes. Eventually Blue Demon returns the favor. Masks are ripped, people are kicked in the balls, referees are bumped. This is Paul Heyman's wet dream of what ECW could have been. It's fucking great.

  25. Man, I thought Heenan was gonna do a full Jerry bump at the start there but he landed on his feet. The agility of the man! Dusty Rhodes is a sore loser. This deserved tighter camera angles, especially after Graham whacked.

  27. Destroyer is an OG "white mask means I can bleed all over everything" guy. Also this is far enough back where Abby is just a thick guy and not "Jabba the Hutt but with blood".

  31. The male side of the roster is already overloaded with guys. As someone who defended AEW’s women’s division early on I think anyone new signed from this point forward should be some more female talent.

  32. I've known who you were here for a while, not sure quite how I figured it out. I'm like square in the demo, I guess, 37, but even with the Network I can't be fucked to watch current stuff. I'm moving through the ECW redubs, just bouncing around, watching the Hardcore TV from 2000 for a fantasy booking project (I'm that kind of lame), and I just started to dig into the WCCW on the Network. Current stuff just doesn't catch my interest. I do with I knew of an easy way to watch like, early 2000s indy stuff in context, I'm not too up on streaming services, but one where I could watch early PWG or ROH would be dope.

  36. I thought of putting this in the clubbering thread, but it’s too long. Also the Wrestling Machines thread, but I don’t have the patience to counter any Suwama nay-sayers. So I’ll post it here. All of it is great: ending is dynamite.

  39. One positive thing I'll say is I liked the open of the show. It reminded me of SNME where each guy on the show cut a short promo in succession.
