  1. 5 years ago in San Jose at the 2015 Wrestlecon. My brother and I met DDP. DDP is my brothers favorite wrestler it was our first Wrestlecon we were excited and nervous cuz wrestling is our favorite thing in the world and everyone there could have been Sinatra to us we were in complete awe. Well there was a moderate line for DDP my brother, Steve is his name and thats how i'll be referring to him from now on didn't want to wait in the line. I told him "Steve we are waiting i. line you are meeting DDP." So we get to the front of the line at the table they got 8x10's spread out on the table, DDP's then wife was standing there, Steve and I were discussing what 8x10 to get and I told Steve "get the one with him holding the belt you were there." It was the Spring Stampede shot where DDP has the belt upside down, Steve agrees we get to DDP, his wife informs him we were at the show displayed in the picture (I wasn't at that show but thats another story for another day) DDP seemed genuinely excited that "we" were at the show where he won his first world title. I told DDP "You know how every Nitro for like 2 years ended with the nWo beating you up?" DDP was like "yeah I do" then I was like " well he (referring to Steve) cried every time the nWo beat you up." DDP looks at Steve says "dude come here" gives him a hug like Steve was his solider son returning form 'Nam who walked up on the porch. He put the WCW World Title on Steves shoulder writes him a personalized autograph that read something like "Yo Steve sorry about making you cry feel the Bang 3x champ DDP" and takes a picture with Steve (who i think he he could have would have walked off with the belt), shakes his hand thanks us for coming and sharing that story with him. It was the coolest moment ever. DDP one of the good guys. Made Steve and I feel like a million bucks, and like we were his long lost buddies.

  7. For the last several years, I've involved myself in a traditional hobby with a twist -- I send out birthday cards for celebrities to sign. The cards are specifically for my daughter and, before her 2018 passing, my wife. I always try to think different to try and surprise family. I started doing this for my daughter (who turns nine next month) when she was 3. Based on the books I read to her when she was a tot, I got cards signed by various authors and illustrators. It moved on to some of her favorite cartoons on TV and streaming (pretty much the whole voice cast of "Blaze and the Monster Machines" signed cards for her, plus several "PAW Patrol" voice actors signed the first page of an actual script from the show). When she was 3-4, she had this phase where she watched anything and everything that's tot-friendly and British on Nickelodeon and YT. That led to her getting signed cards and photos from three "Peppa Pig" voice actors, the narrator of "Hey Duggee" , one of the Chasers on "The Chase", the entire cast of "Countdown" (she actually learned how to put letters together to form words by watching episodes of the show), plus membership in the "Sooty International Fan Club" by Matthew Corbett. As I mentioned previously, she's starting to show interest in wrestling, so I decided to show her some non-WWE content pre-pandemic. She really got interested in Thunder Rosa, so I wrote to the studios in Atlanta where they tape NWA Power prior to a taping and hoped for the best. A few weeks later, Rosa returned the card (based on what she wrote in front of the card, she took it back to her home in Texas to mail it). She wrote a wonderful birthday message to her, which I'll share with her next month. She could have just dismissed the card, sloppily write a signature and move on, but you could tell she took her time to think about what to write and seemed to really appreciate the request. I have a few other requests out to wrestlers, so we will see what happens.

  13. My DDP story... June of 1996, Wheeling, WV.. the Monday Nitro where Kevin Nash made his WCW re-debut. One of my grade-school friends won a contest sponsored by a local Domino's to win 4 ringside tickets(ended up 3rd row) and a pizza party with a WCW superstar. They led us down to the room where the party is, which is adjacent to the locker room. As we're sitting in there waiting for the party to start, a few wrestlers were walking through the room as it led to the main concourse. We said hi to Ric Flair, who gave us a head-nod but basically no-sold us and the Public Enemy who were pretty cool. Then DDP walks in. He's the guy joining us for the party. He was still a heel at the time but he couldn't have been nicer to this scrawny 14-year-old kid. Took time to talk to us, signed some things and grabbed a few pictures with us. Was a really cool experience. One other remembrance from that evening is Randy Anderson crashing the party and stealing a slice of our pizza. As he walked away, I yelled "Hey, Pee Wee!" which led to this picture of him turning around and looking at me mid-bite. It was hilarious. That was a fun night.

  15. There is more to all of this, but the [simplified] big takeaways of accusations and actions actually taken by the companies their associated with: - Joey Ryan has a lot of people that came out about him being a creep through messages and groping. He was edited out of BTE 199. Also fired from Impact. Bar wrestling has closed. - Marty Scrull was accused of having sex with a 16 year old, which he tweets wasn’t illegal. He was also edited out of BTE 199. ROH is investigating. - Chikara has closed down after several staff and wrestlers resigned amid multiple accusations towards Quackenbush and others. - Kongo Kong apologizes for forcing another less experienced worker to expose themselves backstage at a show. In a tweet he thought they were friends and it was hazing. - Several European workers have had numerous accusations made. @Eivioninformed me of accusations involving abuse, sexual assault, and grooming. The names involved are David Starr, Travis Banks, and Jordan Devlin, among other workers. BBC reported police are carrying out “initial inquiries” on the accusations. - Sammy Guevara made a poor taste rape joke about Sasha Banks a few years ago, on a podcast. He is off TV for the time being and will take sensitivity training. Apologized to Sasha privately and on his YouTube. - Jimmy Havoc was accused of rape and harassment by numerous women. He is in rehab currently. AEW released a statement about him being in rehab. - Jack Gallagher was released from the WWE for allegedly following a woman into the bathroom and attempting to rip their clothes off. Also numerous other similar accusations. - Dave Crist is accused of sexually abusing his at the time gf, repeatedly. Also numerous other similar accusations. He was released from Impact. With all of these I’ve done my best to say “accused” and mention because actions were taken against them (or in the case of Kongo Kong, admitted on Twitter). There are more people being accused. I don’t want to state everyone accused in this, moreso those that have either been released or disciplined. More accusations and cases of assault and bullying are out there —— I will HOWEVER mention these cases, which are topical but to my knowledge haven’t had an official statement on or weren’t let go, currently. - Velveteen Dream is still an alleged pedo, which has come up before. - Matt Riddle is accused of forcing a sex act and threatening a woman. Riddle and his wife are claiming to have a restraining order on her already and state she is a stalker. More info is coming out of him being a creep and I’m behind on the details. - Jim Cornette and his wife are accused of pressuring workers to have sex with his wife. If they didn’t play along the wife [is accused of] doing shady things to make said workers life tough. He claimed his sex life is interesting on his podcast. Another worker came out to corroborate the allegations and alleged that Cornette is contacting them with his attorney. IT IS ALSO WORTH NOTING - The Human Tornado accused Marq Quen of sending nude photos, however it ended up being a false claim as a joke. If I’m wrong, please correct me. I’m not trying to stir anything. Just attempting to be on point and understand some of the things that has happened.

  17. CROWDWATCH: Best Friends actually dressed like lumberjacks! Some guy who looks like Tom Magee? A douchey looking guy hanging with Ricky Starks who kind of looks like the pen-pineapple-pineapple-pen guy. The lumberjack match was a thing. Wardlow's default stance/movement is the same as Brock Lesnar from PS2 Here Comes the Pain and that's cool. Lumberjacks don't do the thing they're supposed to. Instead, they catch. Fenix needs every match to be a lumberjack match. His career will last longer that way. I still don't like Luchasaurus working like a less impactful Stan Lane instead of being a monster. The quick women's match, then brawl, was great. Kip Sabian is a great wimpy stooge. Cody does nothing for me. Since time immemorial, the iconography of wrestling has been this: if you are wearing an expensive suit, have bleached hair, a hot woman, a manager, and an entourage, YOU. ARE. A. HEEL. Cody out there dressed like that, with his huge shit eating grin and mouthful of caps, cutting promos about hope and common men and all that shit was so fucking dissonant. His heel turn can't come fast enough. Or does Cody think this is honestly a babyface act? If so, he's the only one. The two PWI references were a little much. One is good, two is Cody Old School Cosplay Night bullshit. Did Cody say he would defend every week? Sweet fucking tag match. When FTR hit the Veg-A-Matic, I'd hoped my idea for them to win with an old time finish in every macth to prove they are students of the tag team game was coming true. The 8 man should be tremendous. BTW is it well known that Dax and Cash is meant to rhyme with Ax and Smash? FTR calling out JR because they're not tall or jacked was funny, in a JR-as-Vince-proxy sort of way. Janella/Kiss segment was very Lucha Underground and I don't know how I feel about it. It was done well but does that wok for this kind of show? Good match, though. I've heard Colt has an actual angle planned so I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. Very good video package for BF vs Omega/Page. BF never won a tag title anywhere? I need to check on that. I know they won the PWG DDT4 tournament but they didn't follow that up with a title win? I kind of don't think Mox will make Fighter Fest, given the discussion on WOR this morning. Santana/Hardy was meh. To be honest I was reading DVDVR on my phone then. JR WRESTLER PHYSIQUE KINK WATCH: JR drooled over how Santana is filling out. Bonus points for mentioning Santana growing out his hair and looking like a "matinee idol." Does anyone under 60 say "matinee idol?" I should count myself lucky he didn't say Hardy won with a twenty three skiddoo, I guess. I enjoyed the end segment but AEW is going to wear out their welcome fast if Main Event Talking Segments become a regular thing.

  18. In the current climate I just figured your post was another in a long line of details I didn't know about a celebrity's past. I was literally resigned to the fact that Vince Carter had legit committed murder and got away with it. Then I clicked in the spoiler tag, and while I'm glad he didn't murder someone it was bitter sweet.

  34. I thought Wardlow/Luchasaurus was more fun than it had any right to be. I think both guys are clearly talented and if they can stay healthy and AEW plays their cards right, they can become big stars. My only nitpick, I did think doing three big diving crowd spots was a bit much. I think those big diving crowd spots into a bunch of dudes is pretty contrived anyway, and they did three in a row. I think had they saved that for Fyter Fest, it would've been better. Honestly, I think this match was so fun they kind of had it in reverse. Do the tag team match on Dynamite and the lumberjack match on PPV. Considering tonight's FTR match was originally supposed to be against the Natural Nightmares, we really got an even better matchup as a result, no offense to QT Marshall. That was a classy tag team match. My main issue? I thought the post-match promo was a little clunky. I get they want to do a slow build to FTR vs. Young Bucks and that's fine. Don't want to burn that out right away. At the same time, Butcher and Blade just seemed to stumble through that promo. Also, the camera guys totally messed up the Lucha Bros. reveal. I knew Pentagon sort of spoiled the return by tweeting that he was in Florida. I just sort of feel like the TV editing blew the shock of Lucha Bros. returning to surprise FTR, and then FTR turns around and sees them first before they attack. It wasn't terrible, but it seems like it was mis-timed. I think Jericho totally needs to beat Orange Cassidy now. But if you're going to do a main event promo segment, that was a good way to do it. I think having a main event promo segment like this works fine, especially if the show is loaded upfront with quality matches.
