  2. Sid just had "it". Madison Square Garden knew.

  3. He didn't say how many WWE wrestlers he spoke to, so it could be a super tiny sample size. But if we're doing a sweepstakes on what WWE wrestler thinks Covid is fake, my money is on AJ Styles.

  5. So this afternoon, Beyond Wrestling decided to do a twitter Q&A, so I thought I'd bowl them something they could hit for six. And boy did they: @RIPPA This post belongs in the Wrestling Discussion thread. It's a work, and it happened a few hours before Starr got exposed and the speaking out hashtag started.

  7. I think the NBA has made a lot of mistakes in their plan to come back, but none so egregious as assuming that Florida would have its shit together in any way.

  12. The story about the "The Saudi layoff was really a hostage situation!" story from Monday came out as part of a class-action lawsuit from WWE's investors claiming WWE misrepresented how much money the Saudi Arabia deal was going to get them. The Saudi layoff being a hostage situation came from the second of the case's witnesses, one of the wrestlers. Even if Sid didn't leave, it's still unlikely he'd be part of the boom anyway. Sid's possibly one of the weirdest wrestlers in history: There's a number of wrestlers who you could look at and know "there's no doubt about it. This guy is obviously a main event player and has to be one of the top stars. There's also a lot of wrestlers- usually failed experiments as main eventers- where it became clear "If THIS GUY is one of your main event players, your promotion is probably in the shitter right now." Sid was weird, because he might be the only wrestler in history where both of those things were true at the same time: Yes, Sid is absolutely main event-caliber, he always did well enough you couldn't exactly call him a bust as a main eventer...and yet at the same time, people could always kind of know "if Sid's one of the main eventers in this promotion, this promotion has some serious problems."

  13. Respectfully I gotta disagree on that one. Sid main evented two Wrestlemainias. One with Hogan & one with Undertaker. Two runs as WWE Champion. Two runs as WCW Champion. Was always a major deal in WWE. Survivor Series 96 is a good example. And that run started with him being a replacement when Ultimate Warrior flaked. So they basically promoted him as a guy equal to Warrior. He had that hot but short ECW run. Every run he had in WCW he was tippy top of the card. He did way better than you're giving him credit for. His push and accomplishments are probably up in the top 20% of all time. I get that he was never a mega star during a boom period, but not many were. If you compare him to similarly pushed guys like Nash (0 WM main events) or Kane (0 WM main events), you start to see that he did more than people remember.

  17. I’m really sad that Sid in ECW didn’t last longer, but I guess if Heyman can barely afford people like Chris Chetti then he definitely couldn’t afford to pay Sid to no-show so he could play softball instead. Sid and Scott Hall in ECW are my two biggest “would love to have seen a longer run in _____”.

  25. Idk, seems like Jaxon Ryker or whatever his WWE name is, is a top candidate. When you get pulled from TV because you're so far up Trump's ass, being a flat-earther or Covid denier can't be far behind.

  31. One of the many things I love about Bret Hart, his match finishes. Sometimes they would work for Bret like the turnbuckle pinfall when trapped in the Sleeper to Roddy Piper at WrestleMania VIII and Steve Austin's Million Dollar Dream at Survivor Series 1996 while sometimes would be countered. Owen Hart reversing the Victory Roll by Bret Hart at WrestleMania X. Bret successfully used it on Bam Bam Bigelow at the 1993 King of the Ring Finals.
