  1. All really excellent points. I didn't mean that he needed to plaster Moxley with bombs, but a little bit more would have been a nice touch. Also, I went and checked his Twitter. This is the shit. That is some real deal feelings type shit for pro wrestling, and I love it. "I didn't want the friendship to just be given. I wanted to deserve it." That is fucking AWESOME.

  2. I've been saying this since they debuted, but at the time they got an overwhelmingly negative response here. I'm glad people are coming around to them, though. They can go in the ring and Evil Uno is a great talker. Also, PAC/Page wasn't the 4th match. I mean, it was technically, but in AEW it's not. Last night was billed as the rubber match, even by Tony Khan at the post show media scrum after Full Gear.

  3. Janela is a goof with his ever careful tipsy toe down the ramp in his new cowboy boots and his inexplicable seizure while mugging for the camera...nothing about him screams dangerous, yet they’re trying to present him as some kind of threat.

  4. Also called Hager "Swagger" during the main event. MJF seems ready for his moment. But I can't shake the feeling that if he were wrestling somewhere else with his current skill level, he'd be comparable in skill to Miz or EC3 and everyone wouldn't be so over the moon about him. That's not a bad thing, but it's amazing how much more charitable fans are with performers when they're wrestling in a company that hasn't pissed away all its goodwill.

  6. A Mikey Whipreck gimmick where a guy gets killed but keeps winning by DQ and moves up the rankings would be amazing.

  8. If we are going to hammer home how great it is that some of these ladies have the kind of bodies that we enjoy to look at, can we also get running on how fucking GORGEOUS Jungle Boy is? Every single time I see him on TV, I find myself staring at him like we are in junior high and I have a crush. I think he's too young for me, but that doesn't take away from how handsome I think he is. Anyway, I enjoyed the show very much, although it did feel like it was a little all over the place. MJF promo was money, but as mentioned above, he and Wardlow need to be their own deal. No Inner Circle membership, please. That goddamn dinosaur is over as fuck. I liked that Marko was into grabbing the Creeper mask before Jungle Boy intervened and reminded him that the dino mask is where he needs to be. That shot of the three of them after Luchasaurus save was truly excellent. PAC and Page was fun, and I liked the amping up of the brutality to beat Hangman. I don't know who I was expecting to answer Moxley, but I popped pretty huge when Darby accepted. That match should be fun as fuck. Santana and Ortiz are goofy as fuck. I loved the "Hey Brandon, we lied!!". The place went apeshit when the bathroom door opened for Orange Cassidy and Santana played it so great by just slowly pulling it closed. Nyla looked a whole lot better than she has, I'm hoping she really falls into place. How much of that was Danni Jordan pinballing for her, who knows? We shall see. I wonder if the endgame with the Kong / Brandi deal is to make Nyla the big bad of the women's division? Kong keeps taking trophies and runs through everyone until she runs into Nyla. I don't think that Nyla is ready for that just yet, but I can see working out if Nyla continues to shake off the green. I wish they would have hammered home that Nakazawa was being serious to avenge Kenny, but the announce team didn't really touch on it. And maybe they don't need to, since I certainly got it, and other folks have made mention of it as well. But if that's the story they are telling, it wouldn't have hurt to have Nakazawa get some real offense in instead of just the forearm shot at the opening. Again, my biggest beef with the show this week is the way that commercial breaks kind of fuck up the flow. Peter Avalon was motherfucking the crowd, but I had to watch that on a picture in picture with no audio, then when they came back, he got cut off with no real finish to his shit talk. I'm sure it's a point of order, but it bugs me. Although to be fair, if that's all I can come up with to bitch about, then that's pretty great. Things like that seem to be less bothersome when the rest of the show is put together in a mostly smart manner and they are moving everything forward in logical ways. I'm with you, I hella like them, and am way into the in-ring stuff they do. I liked that Uno is trying to build an island of misfit toys. I mean, I guess that's what the offer to bring in Marko was. Surround himself with weirdos that he can make better. Like Raven in WCW, except maybe have guys that can actually do some damage.

  9. All I could think, watching this, was the following exchange: Kairi: "TITTY! TITTY!! TITTY!!! TITTY, TITTY, TITTYTITTYTITTYTITTYTITTYTITTYTITTYTITTYTITTY, TITTY!!!" Charlotte: "... titty." I accept my Cibernateco, shamelessly.

  14. I don’t think it’s an exact science. I’m sure they will continually fudge their way through the rankings where needed. I’d love to see someone like Nakazawa fluke a win on the first show of the year and then refuse to wrestle a match for the rest of the calendar year just so that he can finish the period with a 100% record. He can then claim he is due a title shot for being the only guy with a perfect record!

  16. What the difference a hot crowd makes. As soon as Darby uttered the words 'John Moxley' they went BANANA making Allin look like a massive deal rather than a wannabe punk kid. Echo the thicc love - that's as far as I'm going with that... I thought the flow was great tonight, there was no time to catch your breath, characters making their motivation clearer, big returns and debuts, big statement squashes, Hangman and PAC going on another tear (no-selling notwithstanding). Give me two hours like that every week.

  17. Thatcher/Ki was really good. Ki was great milking the count and Thatcher was a mauler; dunno what kind of choke that was but Thatcher was turning purple. The Contra bit marred it but oh well. I imagine this is what Kaval vs. Cesaro would have looked like. Teddy didn't even bother making an angry face during the opening run in. I was like "please tell me that's not his valet" when I saw his cat-wrangler. Match was a collection of spots. Samael is fire on the mic and he's named after one of my favorite black metal bands. Throwing fire and wearing Sheik shoes is just icing on the cake.

  18. I think the nitpicks are fair but I don't even think about them because for the most part the shows are very logical and well constructed which I am not used to seeing.

  19. Kenny isn't cleared. Cody isn't cleared. The Bucks were laid out by P&P. And Hangman was knocked out before the finish of the Pac match. Dustin Rhodes has a broken arm. All of the Elite are on the shelf right now, and the Nightmare Family is basically finished. The top active babyfaces in the company are Scorpio Sky/ SCU, Darby Allin, Jurassic Express and Private Party (Mox is a tweener). That's a commitment to making new stars right there.

  22. I was on the Super Smash Brothers bandwagon, and I like them more as The Dark Order. I like that the gimmick is being expanded on. They needed vignettes explaining their background from the beginning. I hope they continue their recruiting efforts.

  27. I thought it was a fun night. JR seemed less shitting on things than he usually does, Tony continues to be fun. I loved the "he should drop the J" comment when MJF came out to gloat. Jericho really feels like the mvp of the promotion with his mic work. Laughed hard at the slow door close by LAX on Cassidy. Hyped for Darby/Mox. Enjoying the show and Wednesdays as a whole. Marko and Jungle Boy = Shaun and Steve Simpson 3k

  29. Both MJF & Jericho were perfectly in character as their egotistical selves . Jericho asking MJF if he wanted to be in the Inner Circle, and MJF wanting Jericho to tell him he needs him in the Inner Circle with neither budging.

  31. Man, SCU is kind of flat and I honestly don't blame the crowd for not getting into them. Their shitty take on a tired ass intro from 20 years ago is lame as fuck. The blatant pandering to the audience in said intro may be worse. They're all technically fine wrestlers who have never engaged me emotionally once. None of them have a superstar aura about them. They're trying to do something with Scorpio, and he was obviously the guy Tony was talking about when he was asked about two blonde guys fighting for the title at All Out. However, the crowd isn't really buying it. SCU were booed by a pretty decent chunk of the audience when they went over the Lucha Bros for the tag titles (that was on the booking for trying to make Penta and Fenix heels) and the crowd went mild when Scorpio got the cradle on Jericho. I won't go so far as to say they are to the men's roster what Britt Baker is to the women's but it doesn't exactly feel earned. Scorpio has a lot of the tools but hasn't put them together in a meaningful way. Daniels and Kazarian's technical proficiency but lack of emotional depth has certainly rubbed off on him. This may have been my least favourite episode to date but it was a mixed bag rather than overly negative. There was a real lack of flow in the first hour with several squashes and long angles/promos. Jericho biffed it on the powerslam and that kind of killed the heat of what should've been a huge angle. MJF didn't really say anything memorable and then went into a comedy routine with Jericho. Wardlow looked dope tho. Darby looked faster than he usually does and that's saying something. Accepting Mox's promo pumped me up, I'll say that much. Pac and Page basically cut off the opening third of their matches and did as close of a sprint as Pac will allow these days. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad that they're not putting Pac on the back burner. He's the complete package but unfortunately can't be the top heel in the company yet.

  34. The worst part of all this brand superiority bullshit is there's no team unity. You can't get any good coked-up pre-match interviews with all the guys hollering nonsense over each other. Like Roman Reigns ain't gonna howl like a dog if he's standing next to King Corbin.

  35. Raw v NXT NXT v SDL SDL v RAW Survivors into a Battle Royal. Winner gets a title shot as his show's champion. Huh, now there's some actual stakes/incentive to win (or even survive) other than "GO GO RED SHIRTS!"

  36. You can tell he's one of Jungle Boy's greatest proponents. He's going to do anything and everything to make that kid a star. It's rather endearing. The nice thing with this company is they have so many potential breakout guys and gals (fewer imo) and we get to watch them flourish or fail (and hopefully adapt). The company will be supporting them too, not working against them which feels... different.

  37. If Guevara came in and did the Alex Wright dance I'd lose my shit. Speaking of which, whenever the Rock'n'Rolls appear again with the Bucks to get their revenge the crowd is gonna do just that. Needs to be somewhere in the South for sure. I was laughing at how LAX couldn't even be arsed to make an actual bullseye; why not draw an 'X' then? Just a circle?

  38. I forgot about his indie name. Holy fuck, between "Tyler Black" and "Sterling James Keenan," there's a strong correlation between "picking your name from an amalgamation of things you like" and "being a douchebag."

  40. Hogan never even called Andre during his suspension, befriended Orndorff to duck his legitimate challenge, and hired Macho Man's wife as his manager so he could seduce her and ultimately provoke Savage into a title bout. And don't forget his three year streak of backstabbing his ally (Savage, Warrior, Tugboat) and dumping them out of the Royal Rumble from behind only to have the temerity to piss and moan when Sid Justice finally saw that shit coming and struck first. Hell, even in Bret's case, Owen was right to turn on Bret, who was stupidly trying to play heroball and solo the tag team champion Quebecers on one bad leg instead of just tagging his little brother in. Vince's ideal vision of The Hero is a total asshole. Bret knew where that road led.
