  1. Fucking awesome show that flew by. When the main event started I had to check my watch. This is such a very well done wrestling show. Loved Private Party getting the win. Genuinely surprising. Darby is going to be a star if he doesn't cripple himself. Moxley was great, Jericho's promo shutting down the we the people chants was great, and that main event was fire. I can't wait for next Wednesday!

  2. You could stop watching. I did and I can't tell you how much happier I am with AEW, New Japan, Impact, MLW, NWA, Beyond Wrestling, and other indies.

  3. Dynamite with a commanding victory to go 2 for 2! I mean quality of show not ratings war. Tremendous from start to finish! 1. The opener might have been my favorite Bucks bout. They really helped make the PPs look legit, and the split screen to commercial was well done. Kudos to the Bucks for showcasing their 'team player' attitudes. The tournament is wide open now. 2. Yeah, as everyone agrees, the Jericho promo was fantastic! Nice to see a guy talk with ability and purpose. He got all those boys over nicely, and the Hag-ar 'forget we the people - it's bad creative' was a perfect sell on the big guy and to all who unjustly call all former misused employees of titan sports 'wwe castoffs'. 3. Spears looked really good again (not sure what the haters are seeing that I'm not) and nicely put over the bigger star Mox. Moxley looked good rebounding from the injury here. As to the speculators, I don't see Tully switching, and I don't want him too. I want to see Tully get inside Spears head and turn his losing ways around. Perhaps he could start by showing him the Slingshot Suplex. Something tells me before all is said and done Spears gets a tag partner, and really puts Tully's expert knowledge to work. As for the post-match, I didn't love seeing Omega look the fool, but the angle worked well enough. 4. Darby-Havoc was a good solid TV bout. Havoc surprises me. I agree that Darby needs a few more hope spots. 5. Orange Cassidy week after week building steam to his eventual big money superstardom. He's going to be huge! 6. The Women looked good - thanks in no small part to Sukura. @Oyaji I'm in agreement that Dr. Baker needs some serious work, but she looked better here. 7. The Main Event tag and post match shenanigans was fab-o-los! I like Page and Dustin as a team. I like Jericho with any one of his charges, and Sammy is winning me over. I saw a complaint about them missing Page's moonsault, but I thought it worked perfectly as this action is fast and furious 'where did Page come from' 8. This is how you do it! Dynomite! Simply put: give people a reason to care and want to tune in next week. Darby skate bit screams to appeal to the young'uns. Really looking forward to Darby-Jericho. 8. Kinda stoked to see Omega-Janella on Dark. 9. Great production. 10. Excellent commentary. Tony and JR are an excellent team, and Excalibur is more than holding his own and adding much in the process. Wrestling commentary seems to be horrible 9 times out of 10. So I'm overjoyed with actual good insightful adding to the match commentary!

  5. I was thinking the same thing. I was like, "God, that didn't feel like two hours." They should expand to five hours or something. Okay, maybe not.

  6. Really? That looks pretty awesome to me. It also came out of nowhere so it works as a "surprise shithead, not so fast!" attack.

  8. Private Party vs. Young Bucks is a match of the year contender. Great blend of traditional tag team wrestling and modern spots. Last week Riho was made and this week it was Private Party. Fuck yeah for building up new talents. They're serious about that. Then Jericho delivered a God-tier promo, just so much goodness. Show dipped hard after that. Darby took some gnarly bumps as he does but that was a nothing match. More technique from him tonight, which is good but I don't like how he's basically getting fucked up for the entirety and then hits two moves and wins. He should be selling most of the match, so that's okay, but he needs more hope spots. Britt Baker is DOA. Just move on until she can get better. Riho is over. Bea has so much potential and she, unlike Britt, gets it even though she's clearly not the finished product. Just something small like, "and back to you, JR" following the ringside interview would've made that transition 1000 times less awkward. Sean Shawn Spears is female Britt Baker but with eons of experience. Nothing there though that DVD into the barricade was gross/awesome. Mox is a superstar. Loved the Omega stuff post-match. Tully needs to ditch Spears in a hot minute here. Lots of potential guys but Pac would be the best fit even though I like his promos on his own. Tully doesn't need to do all of the talking but those two bastards together would be perfect. Main event was really good (Dustin tag!) and then I was marking out like it was '97 Nitro with those perfectly laid out run ins. Darby is my hero. MJeff continues to tease the turn but Does the Right Thing. Just tremendous stuff! I cannot wait for Jericho/Darby next week! First 35 minutes between the tag and the Jericho promo was the best opening to a tv show I've seen in for-fucking-ever.

  9. Jericho scorched the earth and brought the fire with that promo and it was AWESOME. Say what you will about him being older and out of shape, but this mother fucker carries himself like a gigantic star and how anyone could say he’s the wrong dude to be the first world champion is insane. The average size of the wrestlers being smaller benefits Hagar since that dude looks like a beast standing next to the rest. But, and I’m sorry for not remembering who said it so I can credit you, he looks like the dude who is stoned out of his gord and desperately trying not to look so.

  10. This is a point that can’t be overlooked. Alvarez made the point about Riho vs Rose that the crowds willed this into being a great match with their reaction. AEW at this point has a huge level of goodwill that is well earned and the crowds are responding in kind by going batshit nuts with their reactions. AEW doesn’t make you feel stupid or like they hate you for watching their product and the crowds are responding in kind

  12. I’ll take a stab at this and say that the feeling of AEW is far more raw and exciting than the overproduced WWE stuff. Since everything is new there’s hitches and mistakes every now and then but that’s part of it, like watching early NXT evolve into what it is now. At the same time, Dynamite feels big, not because the crowds are bigger but because they’re hotter. People are engaged on a different level, I think partly because the spectre of VKM calling an audible isn’t hanging over everything. I wouldn’t say there’s a singles in house style but the tag division is definitely PWG-esque. Lots of small flippy teams, although they do offset that with guys like Luchasaurus. If you’ve seen the Bucks or LAX over the last year or two you get the idea. If you want to jump in the first episode of Dynamite pretty much runs the gamut of what to expect. Hope you like it!

  14. I'm gutted I've never had the chance to see Johnny Valentine work, or to see some of the classic Mid Atlantic feuds. I remember reading how it was a dead territory when George Scott got the book, and he brought Valentine in to rebuild it almost from scratch. Those two laid the foundation for JCP to have the success they did

  17. The best thing about Jericho's promo is how he put over every single dude in the Inner Circle and made them all look like the greatest collection of talent. I was laughing my ass off at Sammy being this "SPANISH GOD.." look how sexy he is.. Jake HAGAR like Sammy Hagar is an undefeated MMA badass he can take out any fighter! I was rolling at Jericho saying these guys are all his best friends and closest confidants. I hate to bring it up but obviously this was all very unscripted.. he had some bullet points and then hhe went out there and freestyles. Why can't this be a thing across all wrestling?

  18. This is a great idea. Page needs some seasoning and Dustin is the perfect guy to do it. Plus even though I always think of him as a singles guy Dustin has mostly been great in tag teams over the years. And once they're done teaming they can fight and that will be rad too.

  23. BTW, the tongue wagging thing... My wife was kind enough to watch last night's show with me to understand what she's getting herself into when we go to the 11/27 show (man, that should be fucking awesome). We're watching the first match and she asks, "why does the blond Young Buck keep licking his lips and wagging his tongue?" I honestly really didn't have an answer to that and never noticed Nick Jackson doing that before. Then we get the promo with the Inner Circle and Santana or Ortiz, I forget which, is just wagging his tongue like crazy. My wife also points this out and mentions that it's borderline gross, but also funny because he looks like the dumb hyena from the Lion King. AND THEN she notices Sammy licking his lips and sticking his tongue out. It didn't stop there. This happened all night. Not a big deal, but it was really weird to see so many wrestlers all night licking their lips and wagging their tongues. @Niners Fan in CT was it really dry in there or something? Maybe they ate a bunch of pretzels that were making them thirsty?

  25. I genuinely enjoyed the places where Tony came across like he realized he hasn't caught up enough after being out of the business for so long, like his sheer delight in finding out, on air, that the reverse splash is now called the Vader Bomb. On the other hand, Ross' constant pimping of other sports just comes across like, deep down, he feels that wrestlers aren't really athletes. Like the 5th-on-the-depth-chart left guard on the BAH GAWD OKLAHOMA SOONERS who gets zero reps is still a far greater athlete than anyone on the roster not possessing an equal or better real sports background.

  27. I'd like to call a DVDVR moratorium on the lame term 'WWE Castoff'. Why further bury talent whom once wrestled for WWE and were misused by that idiotic creative team? If an actor shows up in some high profile shitty movie and doesn't save the picture or elevate the garbage role given does that mean they're said movie title's cast off?

  28. If they're smart, they make it a title match with Roman winning. Then let SmackDown draft Roman but as the Universal Champion, he can still go to RAW and keep USA somewhat happy.

  29. THE RITUAL (Bruckner, 2017) IMDB : ROTTEN TOMATOES (74/60) (Editor's Note: Not to be confused with the 24854 other movies named "The Ritual") SELECTED BY: @J.T. I thought it was really good AND it's only about a ninety minute time investment. That's half as long as IT! Chapter 2. REVIEWED BY: @The Unholy Dragon Going into this, I was a bit apprehensive. I saw the words “Based on a book by Adam Nevill" and having recently read a novel of his to…mixed feelings, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Fortunately, the screenplay managed to capture all the best aspects of his writing while dropping some of the worst. The film opens with five friends having a get together and a sudden, random act of violence leaving one of them dead. Given how important this becomes as the film goes on, it’s incredibly well handled. Luke, our lead, is stuck behind a shelf pondering how and when to act as two strung out dudes rob a liquor store. His friend hesitates on giving up his wedding ring and Luke hesitates to act, leaving his friend beaten to death with a pipe. The way the scene plays out is brutal and intimate and rightly sets the stage for where Luke’s head is going forward. Six months later the remaining friends are off on a hiking trip in Sweden. Everyone is mourning in their ways and Luke clearly blames himself, a sentiment that’s obviously shared quietly with some of his friends. Someone’s leg gets fucked up and they decide to take a shortcut through the obviously haunted as hell forest and that’s when things go…sideways. I don’t want to talk in too much depth about how things unfold because I think this is definitely a film you want to enter as blind as possible, but it’s really great. There’s a sense of reality coming out from under you as everyone slowly gets more unwound, and when it starts becoming clearer what the evil in the woods is and what’s really happening the story takes a firm twist. I came into this expecting a sort of slow possession and ambiguous evil and I was quite pleased to discover it wasn’t that kind of film at all. Old gods, creepy cults, and the question of letting your guilt over something that wasn’t your fault consume you or fighting to move on with your life in spite of it. A real good piece of classic horror, delivering on the themes it presents while still having a lot of scares and unsettling moments to get you there. The film is beautifully shot. Long takes let you take in what’s happening while the lifeless greys of the light shots don’t offer any more comfort than the darkness of night. As someone who’s tired of blue filter desaturation, I appreciated that the tactic was totally absent here. The film uses the settings to mirror Luke’s depression in a way that doesn’t require any gilding to work. It does a really strong job with pacing too. The strange visuals are spread out well and the question of just what is in the woods is hinted at and worked around before being thoroughly answered. I didn’t know what to expect with The Ritual, but I was happy to find a movie that epitomizes what I like about horror. It didn’t talk down to me, it had something to say, and it knew how and when to be creepy and when to let the hammer drop. Big recommendation.

  32. JUST GOT HOME and I caught the last 15 minutes of the replay. The arena is not that great looking on the inside but it seems to have come across well on TV. I LOVED most of the show. The opening match, look.. I know a lot of people don't dig the Bucks and their style including me at times BUT this match and the atmosphere around me I was ALL IN. Private Party is amazing. After they won they ran up through multiple sections of the crowd to celebrate, they came right by us at one point. They could be stars. The main event was awesome and I enjoyed the hell out of the post match melee. I don't know just everything was timed perfectly leading up to Darby coming down the ramp on his skateboard. It was great. We did not stick around for AEW Dark as one of my buddies has work in the morning but we did see a match from AEW Dark that was put on before the show. No spoilers. It was a 3-way between The Librarian/Sonny Kiss/Kip Sabian. Sonny Kiss was way over. The Librarian made some pretty good jokes about Boston sports.

  33. Great show for week 2 and another super hot crowd all the way through. Opener was awesome. I was not really familiar with Private Party but they delivered and beating the Bucks right out the gate is huge for them. the Jericho promo was great, served a purpose, and stood out being the only promo like that on a show full of action. Not a fan of Jimmy Havoc and haven't cared much for Darby so far so wasn't feeling that match as much. Also not a fan of Orange Cassidy but the pop for him was impressive. Spears still comes off dorky from the entrance on. Moxley came off a lot more babyface tonight than before. Justin Roberts hilarious over the top Cena style intro "Jeeeeeeeeeonnnnnnn Moxley!" Post-match face off with Omega then Pac was a cool twist in their rivalry though. Womens tag was fun, dug having Emi Sakura involved. Main event was awesome and a total Dustin showcase there for awhile. Then the post-match was absolutely excellent. Thought Hager was used perfectly during the match just running over dudes and then Page came off better by taking it to him after the match, keeping Page looking somewhat strong despite another loss. The pop for Cody is always one of my favorite parts of the show. Looking forward to the eventual Bucks/LAX match. the pop for MJF not turning was amazing and I now never want to see him turn even more. His character of yeah he's a dick to everyone, except for his best friend, is perfect so no need to change it. Loved the commentary "He really IS Cody's friend!!!" I mentioned before that I haven't cared much for Darby but his spot in the end here was f'n cool and instantly got me more into him against Jericho. Super hype way to end the show, great stuff.

  34. I hope Ortiz stops doing that thing with his tongue though. It doesn't make him look tough, it makes him look like a sex creep or some sort of mentally challenged birth defect guy. Also, Swaggs seems to now be Jake HAGAR, not Hager. Loved Jericho killing We The People.

  36. Private Party vs. Young Bucks was badass. Glad to see Private Party get a surprising upset. It definitely adds a little bit of juice and unpredictability factor to this tournament since the Bucks were the clear favorite and they are already out of it now. The show and presentation looks very different from WWE which I like. It's just nice to have a big time wrestling product on cable that looks and feels different. Jericho's Inner Circle promo to establish the group was solid. Jericho has clearly slowed down in the ring a bit, but his mic skills have not. Simple and good promo to establish the stable and their members. I'm assuming with MJF, just my opinion, that they are playing the long game with him and Cody. They sort of teased the betrayal tonight. I'm glad they didn't. It feels way too early to do that. I probably wouldn't even do it at Full Gear. Honestly, I probably would've waited until Full Gear to TEASE the betrayal. Even tonight it felt a little early to tease the betrayal in the ring, but whatevs. MJF is a star and when it's his time, they need to give him a lengthy heel run for the belt. Like he's the bad guy you have the faces chase for the title. Also this. This is why Jim Cornette is a fucking out of touch idiot. Orange Cassidy is fucking money and was a brilliant darkhorse signing for the company. The dude has IT factor.
