Kim K has nothing to do with thicker women being in vogue. First, a lot of the body positivity talk is a façade. Second, Kim's figure was mostly given to her by a cosmetic surgeon. That's not an indictment on her, just the truth. Third, saying she popularized fuller figures opens a major can of worms. Queen Latifah has been a celebrity with a plus-size figure for around 30 years, for starters. And she's a hell of a lot more talented/respected. I'm going to put it out here: the Kardashians/Jenners co-opt Black culture and reap the benefits without dealing with the tribulations of being Black. Kris Jenner took Kim's sex tape and turn it into a commodity on which to build the family empire. Kim was just the means to the end. Kim has done good work with helping wrongfully imprisoned people get released, but many more do the same thing without the fanfare. That's not on her, because we as a society cling to celebrity any chance we get. But for large sections of us, she's not a revered figure and for good reason.13 points

Are we really applauding that Al Snow video? It's essentially the same Lance Storm style "you can't have an opinion on wrestling because you're not in the business" bullshit that so many old guys throw out there when they have no other compelling argument. And how can a guy so intelligent say with a stright face that kayfabe was born out of respect for the fans? The entire root of kayfabe is the belief that the fans are "marks," fools ripe to be conned out of their money.8 points

Aaargh, this is one of my main beefs with Bischoff - he keeps harping on a wrestling "performance" show with judges that vote on the timed matches. Wrestling is an art, but it is uncertain if it is Art. If you equate it with acting or performance art (Arts) then you realize that Art is not voted on or graded. Indeed, it could be argued that an audience is not even necessary for "true Art". Pro wrestling does need an audience, and there is interaction between the workers and the crowd but traditionally (and I believe essentially) the workers are in total control of the event. Wrestling is sui generis. It contains elements of other arts, crafts, sports and even Art, but it is not any one of them. - RAF7 points

Your entire post dismissed what I had to say. You invalidated everything I said in an attempt of promoting feminism while disregarding me being a woman, and specifically a Black woman, because you seem to think my points are lesser than.7 points

Mate, did you seriously say "As white men, your opinions on feminism are of lesser relevance" and then ten minutes later tell a Black Woman she was in no position to discuss the Kardashians culturally appropriating black culture? Are you not seeing any contradiction there?5 points

Everyone should be rooting for as many postseason games in Oakland as possible. You know you want Joe Buck to be drowned by a surge of clubhouse sewage during the trophy presentation. (Manfred too)4 points

With Tessa in LU, I think she got kind of snakebit as being seen as a package item with Ricochet and him very vocally and very publicly wanting to leave. Tessa got injured in a dark match and fucked up her arm real bad. There was some heat with Ivelisse since she didn't apologize, allegedly. Tessa and Ricochet were pretty public about it and mentioned it on twitter, mini shitstorm that would have been huge if more people actually watched the show. I'm not a trained wrestler, but I don't think you should have to apologize for someone landing wrong and dislocating their elbow or whatever it was, it was pretty fucking gross looking, I remember that. But I don't remember the move that did it now - I know at the time it seemed like she landed wrong instead of getting thrown wrong? But I'm not trained and don't know shit so I can be 100% wrong there, but throwing shade on twitter about it always feels like a punk move. Handle that shit in the back. Still though, if you work indies and some promoters say you have a bad attitude, it's sometimes because you're not someone who fucks promoters for bookings. I never EVER trust accounts of bad attitudes in regards to female wrestlers without citing specific events due to this. It's bullshit and the business is fucking gross. Still.4 points

I feel like Al was one of the great misused guys of his era. He had mic skills, a fair amount of charisma, could work a variety of styles, came across extremely likable on Tough Enough... But never really got above lower midcard.4 points

The irony of the whole Jordynne Grace stuff is that for someone “playing a character”, she isn’t even in the top 5 female characters in Impact. Tessa, Taya, Rosemary, Madison and Alisha are all far more rounded and well played ‘characters’ and none of them are on social media admitting to playing a part. Impact for all its flaws, and there are thousands of flaws, does give their wrestlers chances to develop their gimmicks.4 points

Vince shouldn't be respected by media outlets or discussing real social issues. Nor should the Kardashians. We're living in Idiocracy and the DVDVR is "Not Sure".4 points

Yeah, it’s Cody first, the Elite last, probably Hangman/PAC at the top of the second hour. I’m expecting that one to be great. I kinda wish they’d found a better opponent for Cody, though. Or at last a heel of comparable size. Sammy is going to look ridiculous in there with Cody. Gonna be a really great first look for all those new viewers when he comes down the aisle in his panda shit. The company might be dead the moment Cody sells for him. Of course, I also just don’t like Sammy in general.3 points

I'll never understand why the NFL doesn't try a revamped version of the "two bye weeks" concept they did once (93ish?) They made some major structural mistakes that year (like the Niners having their weeks consecutively) but now that they are more used to scheduling around a bye week, and we have these London games and similar that byes help with a lot, and a burning desire to expand the schedule... Just add a week, without adding games.3 points

If Bill Goddamn Goldberg went on Leno in 1998 and told everyone "well it's just all fake and me and Terry Bollea are great friends in real life. Steve Austin seems like he would be fun to hang out with", how much steam would come off of him in terms of him being a superstar? Imagine Steve Austin doing the same and telling everyone on Regis and Kathie Lee that Vince is a swell guy and he hugs him everytime WWF has their Christmas party. People would tune out in droves. Jordynne Grace is suppose to be this imposing giant powerful female wrestler. She could be a superstar if she was booked correctly. However, her attitude is indicative (from what I've seen as a casual fan which is important if you want convert casuals into hardcores) that she has no aspiration to be one. She wants to wrestle, get paid, and go home. Nothing wrong with that, but we're having a much larger discussion about why that might be problematic. After All In, I was cheering for her. Now..knowing what I know, if I accidently turn on Impact on AXS one day and see her, she is "I'm a phony wrestler doing performance art" lady now. I didn't put that label on her. She did.2 points
