  1. There used to this guy who worked for WWE who would have been perfect for that kind of role, but they booked him like some kind of goofball idiot. What is his name again? For the life of me, I can't think of it... Wait...hold on, it's on the tip of my tongue... Jon Moxley

  2. How is it convoluted? Tony said on Austin's podcast that some teams would compete for a first round bye. This at least places some stakes on a match on an otherwise meaningless show. Plus, holy shit. Best Friends vs SCU vs Private Party? Fuck yeah! Let's go Dustin and Greg or GTFO.

  4. Is ROH still considered a dream match promotion? Didn’t they just give us Lethal/Taven for an hour? Who’s dream is that? Or are we talking about going back in time to ROH circa 2002-2004? (If so, sign me the fuck up.)

  5. Wrestling 2 extra matches to not wrestle one match sounds like some classic Steiner math lol

  6. Someone needs to tell the live audiences at these shows that Rollins isn’t a star so they’ll stop being so fuckin’ loud for him.

  7. My take on/explanation for the top rope move/move to a downed opponent instead of just pinning them has always been that wrestlers are intrinsically conditioned to kick out of any pin attempt, so just because they're laying on their back for 3, 5, 10 or more seconds, it doesn't mean they're not going to kick out of a pin attempt. That's why the kill shot makes sense to me.

  10. I am a dad! My wife and I adopted our beautiful and amazing son about six weeks ago. We had been waiting to adopt for about two years. We got a phone call at 10 pm on a Sunday night. We brought our son home the next evening. We became parents with about 16 hours notice. But he is the best and being a dad is amazing.

  15. As far as AEW working with NJPW, the longer they leave it, the more it means. Wasn't Hangman Page in the G-1 2018? If they start working together this year, it's not a big deal, it's a return to status quo, almost. If it happens in two or three years, that's a big deal. Dream matches aren't dream matches if nobody had time to dream about them. Omega vs Ibushi in 2021 or 2022 is better for business than it happening in seven months or less.

  16. Tickled by the argument that fans are cheering for Rollins because there's no one else to cheer for. Rollins was basically inserted into the boring Steve Austin mold that WWE has for boring storylines. Which is what everyone says they want: faces that act like badasses. The problem with that is that it isn't really the underlying problem. Neither is Seth or any other talent. Austin wasn't popular because he was a dick. He was popular because he was exciting and unpredictable. Which is something WWE performers literally cannot be for as long as the current mode of production is adhered to.

  17. It's funny because the board could turn against Becky Lynch, and then suddenly you'd be a fan of hers most likely. I wish I could be as contrarian as you are 90% of the time now, but it is what it is.

  18. I don't see how the ROH/NJPW relationship survives with Juice and others supposedly not wanting to work there any further. I seriously doubt we ever see David Finlay in ROH again. I'm actually surprised GoD have held the tag titles as long as they have. I figured they would have dropped them back to the Briscoes pretty quickly, so they could be done with ROH. If I was Gedo, I wouldn't want to deal with the inept two-headed monster of Bully Ray and Delirious. If NJPW and ROH were a girlfriend and boyfriend, New Japan is the girl that has checked out and is looking around for a better guy while ROH is the kind of pathetic guy that knows he can't do any better, so he tries desperately to keep the relationship going eventhough it's crumbling around them.

  19. People like to complain about matches happening for no reason, or without build-up, or having no consequences going forward week-to-week, month-to-month. AEW books a match on their preshow with impending rewards in the future, and people say it's convoluted (even though it's really simple to understand). The more things change for AEW, the more the sentiment online stays the same. People wanted an alternative - we got AEW, "but they're just a t-shirt company" Their shows sell out in advance - "well that's mainly scalpers" Double Or Nothing was a critical and commerical success - "beginner's luck" Moxley gives them star power - "he's got the WWE stink on him still probably/people only care because his podcast tour ripping into WWE" Adam Page is thrust into the main event scene, showing AEW is trying to make a new star - "well we don't want this guy, he's not ready/it's only because he's friends with the founders/it's only because PAC wouldn't job to Omega/Jericho" Wins and losses will matter and we won't have fuck finishes - "that's so dumb it'll never work - but I love New Japan!" NJPW fans, on here anyway, seem to be very anti-AEW and it's weird as hell.

  20. Also you don't have to deal with the trouble that is Bully Ray and the inept booking lizard who might be David Icke.

  21. There's a fight or flight response to hearing the count that doesn't exist otherwise. Wrestlers switch into a different gear in that moment. Most of the things that are most frustrating is when they break normal pro wrestling logic, not when they utilize normal pro wrestling logic as it is usually utilized. That's why this is the most validating move in pro wrestling history: It makes what's normally a breach of pro wrestling logic (namely, the foot-up transition during a double axe handle attempt to a prone opponent) be shown to be something that could actually work out (even if Arn had to hold the leg). It's sort of the same as the question of why Flair always went up to the top rope if he was just going to get tossed off (because he won the NWA title that way).

  22. AEW has Moxley's US rights so he was never going to be on the show and it is why he was put in B Block (that is all per Meltzer this morning)

  25. Past week, I had a Facebook On This Day Memory. I wanted to bring it here one time only as a reminder of Jonathan Coachmen's commentary: Jonathan Coachman sucks so bad on WWE commentary. He reached his lowest point (which is saying something) with this stupidity as Nia Jax had Ronda Rousey in a bear hug at WWE Money in the Bank 2018 last night: "This might be an advantage for Ronda Rousey. It's allowing Ronda Rousey to get a little bit of a rest." The bear hug takes your breath away, you f'n moron. Even Michael Cole and Corey Graves called Coach out on that. Bloody hell.

  26. Seth Rollins is on the verge of making good choices. He should use the low blow a minimum of two times per show. He'd be one of my favourites. Do the right thing, Seth. Uppercut Baron Corbin's nuts. Twice.

  27. I’ll never understand that, as long as I live, and them trying to make Rollins into that guy feels like a forced response to the tour de fucking force Mox has been on...

  36. Fun Fact (which I'm sure one of you will correct me on): The US title match is the first singles match between Samoa Joe and Ricochet -- in any organization.

  37. If NJPW didn't want a working relationship with Moxley and knew they wouldn't be able to have him on US shows then why the fuck did they even book him to challenge Juice, not to mention beat Juice and win the US title? That just seems so dumb on NJPW's part. They're increasing Moxley's profile making him into a bigger deal before he goes to be with AEW full time in the fall. Also, if you're NJPW, I'd rather play ball with AEW than RoH. I'm in a metropolitan area with a large Sinclair owned station and network (used to be two networks, but Sinclair merged them and fired a bunch of folks or offered retirement packages) and we don't even get weekly RoH here. The last time I saw RoH on tv here was late night after the Super Bowl the last time it was on CBS. I can't imagine the viewership for their shows is even that good. TNT just seems like a better option.

  38. Possibly because they're young and used to traditional Lucha trios matches, their instincts are to do something really cool, and then tag out and let someone else take the spotlight. Singles matches are a completely different art form.
