  1. When a bunch of people were getting mad at Michael Cole for chewing out Pat McAfee when he wore shorts with a suit at work I couldn't really get my head around it, like how would any reasonable person not think that McAfee deserved to be fired into the sun for that

  2. AEW signed Pentagon Jr, so fans of that promotion are going to be seeing a lot of package piledrivers.

  3. I don't think it's a subject that needs anyone else's two cents at this point. Though @Stefanie the Human 's post is appreciated.

  4. I would do a LETHAL LOTTERY FIVE MAN ELIMINATION TAG MATCH. You end up getting 4 teams - 2 matches. Two Teams win and we promise that at the next show those two teams will face off for a big bag containing 25,000 dollars. And you have the president of the company reveal a giant money sack with a dollar sign painted on it. This way we get one story of random team members, heels and faces, having to get along for one night AND everyone gets on the show. Then in the build to the next show we can run stories on how they're trying to get more cohesive in the leadup to the Big Sack of Money Match.

  5. I actually fucking loved Pat for his response to all that. Like I don't give a fuck about his commentary skill or lack thereof I don't watch the show. But him telling Michael Cole to go fuck himself and momentarily shutting down WWE's backstage petty bitch culture and everyone having to apologize to him is priceless.

  9. THE RESUME OF BEN! The hours grew longer, my patience ever shorter. Finally, I returned from whence I left. The dwelling as dark as I had left it that morn. With every step, an article of clothing discarded until my now nude body fell upon the bed. My sheer respite interrupted by the light touch of finely manicured fingernails gliding over my back seemingly typing messages of lust upon my skin. Soft kisses descended upon my neck. "Argh! What are you doing here?" I hollered shockingly into the darkness. "I live here," she angrily replied. "This is my apartment, Ben." "Where do I live?" I wondered aloud. "Not here, asshole!" she said as the blistering fire in her eyes burned hotter than the incandescent light bulbs that now flooded the room with bright searing light. And that's the story of why I don't own any suits anymore.

  11. I think Cornette selfishly working a large group of would-be paying fans into thinking that pretty much all wrestling today sucks and is not worth their money does more long-term damage than Joey Ryan's cock. That's just me, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    4 points
  12. What long term damage was done? To most anyone else, there was no long term damage done. That Joey Ryan of all people could do more long term damage to wrestling than what Vince McMahon has done (killing the territories and now, killing interest in a national product with the side effect of driving people to go to indies) or Eric Bischoff has done or Vince Russo has done and on and on and on. Joey Ryan does two spots that no one even talks about anymore except for you, Cornette, or others who love to hang onto this bullshit notion of "outlaw promotions" or "mud shows" or whatever he calls them. Regarding the spots themselves and how they only helped Joey Ryan, that's also false. Look at how many people show up to Bar Wrestling or other places Joey is at. All of that money doesn't just go to money. Any increased attendance trickles down to other people on the same card so they can continue making money doing the thing that they love. Beyond all of this, as multiple people have tried to tell you, this whole issue people have isn't about what Cornette said about Joey Ryan. You continue hanging onto that though. It has to do with what he said about Sonny Kiss. For the record, I couldn't care less about what Cornette shouts at the clouds because he's another huckster carnival barker selling his shit to his audience. I think he said some shit he probably didn't think would be offensive and now he's hopefully clued in to the fact that terms like transvestite or the way he used that are offensive. Regardless, Joey, Killian McMurphy, and others came to Sonny's defense. The outrage wasn't about what Cornette said about Joey. Regardless, you may not like Joey, hell, I'm not even a fan since I can't even recall a match of his and can't even comment on if he's a good wrestler, but he has done other stuff that is funny, mainly the BTE stuff and the angle where he was killed. Just because YOU don't like Joey doesn't mean he's garbage. Want to know what is garbage in wrestling though, where it can actually hurt things long term? Letting people with HIV or AIDS or Hep wrestle without being tested where they're bleeding all over their opponent, increasing the risk of transmission. Or the case of the other indy wrestler who knowingly had HIV, wrestled with it, and had sex with multiple partners without informing any of them that he's positive. How about the amount of chairshots to the head that continue to this day? That's the type of garbage that would do long term damage. There's more than that though, but I just decided to focus on the transmittable diseases. Point is, what Joey Ryan is doing is far from doing any sort of long term damage to wrestling. If people look at a wrestling card and don't recognize any names, see Joey Ryan's, decide to go because of him, and wind up seeing one or more other wrestlers they like and now those people want to see those wrestlers, then how is that a bad thing?

  13. Then he should fucking apologize instead of fueling his rageboner. Instead, he made it about attacking his favorite targets again. I fail to see him as some liberal bastion when I know hundreds of people who don't use bigoted language.

  15. Aoki's death is so sad. Such an incredible talent, and a really nice guy. I became friends with Aoki on his UK excursion back in the NOAH days, to the extent that the NOAH crew filmed us saying goodbye to each other on the last show. I went to the Champions Carnival final in 2015, years later. Aoki saw me, and called me over to the merch table to chat to myself and my wife (who is Japanese, but has little interest in wrestling). So shocked to read of the news of his sudden death this morning. Was only recently speaking to someone on Facebook about how good it was to have become friends with him during his tour. Such a tragic end to a talented and lovely guy

  17. That's the thing, I liked a lot of the guys Jim didn't, but the Battle Royal did suck. But using a slur and hurtful language isn't constructive criticism.

  18. Because it is cool to dunk on RoH now, because nobody likes Bully and because nobody likes Allure either. I can guarantee you that if this happened in AEW and some fans threw some lewd comments at Brandi and Cody did what Bully did then coverage of this situation would be way more balanced. But, most fascinating thing to me is responses from other wrestling fans. Some claim that this guy is asshole in most shows that he attends and others say that he is cool dude that never caused any problems. It is likely that one side is lying and he is actually an asshole or an angel, but to me it looks like there is huge divide among USA wrestling fans when it comes to what is and what is not okay to do in the shows. Heel getting heat argument is ridiculous either way. If you shout at woman that she is where she is only due to sleeping with someone backstage then she is not getting heat as a wrestler, she is getting heat as a person.

  25. Did Dr Dirty John Valby destroy music concerts in America? Did Judge Dread destroy the genre of reggae? Did Andrew Dice Clay or Buddy Hackett destroy stand up comedy? You don't have to like Joey Ryan or his act but saying he's destroying wrestling is pretentious nonsense.

  26. On the subject of controversial announcers who divide opinions, I would like to announce that I like Pat McAfee. I think he is an entertaining big jock doofus. He has that same dumb enthusiasm that Don West used to have. I get the feeling though at some point he is going to say, tweet or do something really dumb or controversial that will get him fired. Then I will hate him, like his stupid anti virus software.

  27. I didn't even want to really say anything about Joey Ryan because aside from him on BTE, I don't even really care about the guy. When there was talk of him signing with WWE or AEW, I didn't know what good he could do for either company. If anything I did appreciate him saying he would stick with the indies because he is making more than enough money doing them and he brings in an audience that will see other talent they may not have otherwise known about. It's just hard to not say something when you see the same false bullshit uttered repeatedly. And even now after typing all of that out I wonder why I even bothered because it's not going to change his thinking on the matter. It's just wasted time on my part so jokes on me I guess. If anything, this silly as fuck notion that something he or Sonny Kiss or someone else is doing is killing the business needs to go away. It's not true. Not even close to being true. When you think back to the long, wild history of wrestling, there's a lot of shit you can look at and imagine people now, mainly Cornette's followers, saying would kill the business. Goldust, dudes grabbing a woman's crotch in ECW (Beulah maybe?), women grabbing a dude's crotch (Luna?), dudes piledriving women, powerbombing women, straight up blasting women with all sorts of wrestling moves, the Rock giving Mick Foley permanent brain damage with 13 unprotected chair shots to the head, numerous wrestlers dying way too early, and on and on and on. When you look back and think about all of that, Joey Ryan and his dick flip that no one even cares about now wouldn't even rank.

  28. I really loved the show and can't find much, if anything to complain about. I did wonder who would be the first to wear Captain Marvel inspired gear and I thought it would be Seth. It did wind up looking really cool on Johnny though. Riddle vs Roddy was definitely the match of the night for me and it was probably the most violent as far as wrestling moves go. The ladder match didn't even seem that insane. I thought the ladder match at MitB was better, but this ladder match had my current favorite team in NXT and maybe in WWE winning the tag titles. The women's match was ok, but damn, it's time for Shayna to move on. I thought for sure she'd be dropping the title to Io here. I'd rather see Io win it here, see Shayna lose trying to regain it, and then see her move up to the main roster. Really dug the main event too. I understand the criticisms for the Panama Sunrise on the floor and even I'm a little tired of seeing Johnny sell shit by looking brain dead before he busts out a desperation move, but despite all of that, it was an exciting match and Adam Cole is finally the NXT champion.

  29. How the hell does a thread that mentions Black vs. Murphy (which could be great, great stuff), descend into talking about Joey Ryan's dick or the fact that a sixty-year old man in the deep South isn't up on currently acceptable terminology? I know Jim Cornette through years of correspondence, a more tolerant, liberally-inclined guy is hard to find. Remember to always separate the worker from the work. When Corny's working, he says outrageous stuff, that's what he does, you're supposed to get all butt-hurt and complain on Twitter, simply means he has a few thousand more listeners next time to see what he'll say next. Remember Don Imus and Howard Stern when they were just shockjocks? The whole gig was say something outrageous to get listeners talking and to tune in the next day to see if they were going to top it. Jim is an intelligent man, he learns from the world around him and steals the bits and pieces that help make the Jim Cornette character, (which is far different from the real Jim Cornette, the man). To imply that he's a bigot or transphobic because he used the word "transvestite" is silly, he probably didn't know any better and now he does.

  31. Ryan's dick spots went viral, got him worldwide attention, increased his bookings, paid for his house, and eventually got him to a point where WWE wants to sign him. None of that happens without that spot. The Katie Vick angle turned people off and did not add one PPV buy. Honestly, do you just pull this stuff out of your ass based on your general hate for independent wrestling? You're really good at reading minds and judging people's intent. Or you just assign the worst possible intentions to strangers you've decided to dislike.

  38. True, but then again, you don't really expect the head booker to be the one to come out and escort you back to assumingly get tuned up by the other booker like you jumped the rail in a Watts territory, so not picking up that Hunter is taking you back is somewhat understandable. That said, it's not a real good look that after a match were Leon allegedly spit at and otherwise physically touched a fan without physical provocation, that the head booker, who she allegedly had/is having an affair with came out to take a fan out of the crowd and to the back, to have a private conversation with a known asshole and guy that has also allegedly abused fans into not showing up at shows anymore (see: stories of the OG Sign Guy at ECW after Sign Guy Dudley started), who also happens to be the Significant Other of another person said fan got into a verbal "altercation" with. Yeah, it's handled poorly and Koff, Juster. and Gilleland should be having a serious conversation about the company's future right now.

  39. Regardless of what the guy said or how out of line he was speaking... If Leon did spit at him and touch him without physical provocation, she should be suspended at best, terminated at worst. If Bubba did bring the guy back to give him the business and not just have Security toss him, he should be fired outright. Doing that opened the company up to a massive lawsuit, especially if he was threatening the guy. This ain't the 80's working for the Crockett's in Greensboro. Security is there for a reason.

  40. First hour was nothing but hour 2 was good. Loved the womens triple threat and wish that was the title match instead. Charlotte/Carmella have developed great chemistry, always enjoy them as opponents and thought Alexa looked great back in there. Shane O's mocking of Roman's oooahhh after the Spear was hilarious. Also hyped for Goldberg/Taker and SaudiMania.
