  1. I love Big E's mannerisms. He's a walking HR violation in any other universe.

  2. Damn some people are really into "jobs are supposed to suck my dude" mentality.

  4. If you mean Roberts might strangle prostitutes and/or runaways "working" to support drug addictions, then yes.

  5. You know the fundamental thing he doesn't get about heel commentary, is that you need to believe what you're saying is right, even though everyone knows you're wrong. You have to be able to say that the reason Dana isn't going to win is because she's dumb, NOT that she sucks. You need to be able to build sympathy for the face, while getting people to hate the heel (THE ONE IN THE RING, not yourself). Corey is also *extremely* guilty of this. You're not Jesse Ventura, you're not Bobby Heenan, you're not Michael PS Hayes - because they fucking got it. Is Dana Brooke going to light the world on fire all of the sudden? No, probably not. But she's certainly not going to do it by having one of the commentators say she's fucking terrible and sapping the viewer of any reason to want to watch. This is so goddamned easy. My lord is this frustrating.

  6. This really started back at WrestleMania 32 where Sasha was clearly the most over and most marketable person in the match and they gave Charlotte the win. That should have been Sasha's crowning moment. But Vince being Vince he is completely out of touch about what sells. WWE overall struck gold with the new television contracts and that is going to keep them healthy from a financial standpoint well into the next decade. It's the nature of the current TV climate. What happens after that is anyone's guess. I could tell you right now XFL is going to fail again and will be a huge waste of money. Vince's biggest problem is just like CM Punk said. He'd rather lose money or make way less trying to be right and doing things his way instead of learning from previous mistakes and listening to people who know better than he does.

  8. Still my favorite wrestling game. I have an acquaintance who has one. I remembering winning the Royal Rumble with Demolition Smash. It would have been better if the game came out a few years earlier when Ax was still around.

  9. I literally just got a text from a former co-worker who used to roll her eyes anytime me and another co-worker would talk about wrestling about how she's getting into watching the WWE now because of Xavier Woods being awesome.

  10. I don't feel like jobs are supposed to suck but I do feel like people who work for WWE should understand exactly what it entails regarding booking. Working for WWE and getting mad about your spot on the card constantly changing at the whims of a deranged old man is like being a sanitation engineer and getting mad because you smell like shit by the end of the day. Things that make me angry about WWE's treatment of its employees: the independent contractor bullshit and all the awful treatment that goes along with it, kayfabing the talent about where they're working in the immediate future Thing that shouldn't matter because this shitty company is booked by a lunatic: the mercurial nature of your position on the card

  11. I am not sure what you dudes are arguing about exactly, but I am not sure if Dave is making a great argument that it shouldn't be a time buy. All the combat sports examples he listed were proven commodities BEFORE they got their deals. The history of the UFC on TV is already obvious. Eddie Hearn is running his daddy's promotion that's been around since 1987, and Eddie was gaining a foothold in the USA prior to his sweetheart DAZN deal. Bellator had been around for damn near 10 years when they got that DAZN deal even with seriously declining ratings post Kimbo. These guys have one show under their belts and Dave is using examples of companies that have around for several decades for an unproven commodity. If what he said made sense, the AAF would have survived more than a few weeks.

  12. While Cornette's dietary choices are insane, speaking as a pest control professional who services a lot of Wendy's? It's the cleanest fast food franchise I've seen. So maybe the crazy isn't just hoarding burgers, he wants them clean.

  13. I do truly love Wrestlefest, but it isn't even my favorite arcade wrestler. That honor belongs to Konami's "The Main Event". Although I suspect its placement on my all-time list stems from the fact that it came out first, plus the Main Event machine in my neighborhood was in a laundromat next to the best taqueria in the neighborhood, so chances were high I was eating hella fat plus fucking fools up with El Condor & The Maui Mauler.

  14. I've tried numerous times before to connect my PS2 to my HDTV, the console was on but no picture. Something's gone right today as it's finally worked! Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain and Smackdown vs. RAW 2006 awaits.

  15. I think Dave said something somewhere today that the "pay for timeslot" part is inaccurate but at this point I mean who the hell knows there's been so much speculation, I understand everyone wants to be the first to break the story but man this has been going on now forever. I can't wait until we have all the information in front of us.

  18. Fallah Bahh hit a tope! I kind of figured they'd be keeping Scarlet Bordeaux far away from the Knockouts title, but I didn't think they'd do it by having her compete in the men's tag division. Seems to be working so far though. Glad Dez beat Moose, but he took a hell of a beating on the way. Looks like this feud must continue, but I dunno who Moose's backup is going to be. Then we got the throwback match, which was actually pretty similar to this one. It was Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong no DQ. The Impact Zone was on fire for that one. If anyone wanted to make the case for 08-09 Impact being the prototype for NXT, this match would work as evidence. Tessa Blanchard continues to appear legitimately intimidating, this time in a restaurant. For a second, I thought the guy playing restaurant manager was Chris Sabin. All the people bitching in the main forum and WWE forum about how New York Womwn's division booking sacrifices the undercard to protect the main eventers, and here we have a division where everyone's over and everyone's protected. Madison Rayne beats Tessa and Taya back to back, but both losers are still over as unstoppable killers (and Jordynne Grace beat Madison for the PPV title shot, so she's over too; Then you have Su Yung and Rosemary who both have long unbeaten championship reigns, and Keira Hogan who's an underdog who can beat anyone at any time. It just works). The main event was pretty short, but it was all action. I think the idea was to have Eddie face Eli on the PPV, but they've fired Eli already, so hopefully whatever they shot for next week can work as a blow off. All in all, another good show. And for some reason it's changing channel in the UK, from 5Spike to 5Star. Still not in HD, as far as I can tell.

  20. Sam Roberts should kiss Opie, Anthony, and Jim Norton's ass everyday for where he is. I would love an O&A reunion. I enjoyed that show more than I ever did Stern.

  25. Cheers, @Sky Blue Sam. Kind of you to say. I've said this before but I've a soft spot for Coventry City as it was my first away game and both our clubs last game in the Premier League, May 2001. It's sucks seeing what's happened to Bradford City after Phil Parkinson/Mark Lawn especially and Stuart McCall rebuilt after the mostly bad times post relegation from the Premier League. Edin Rahic the former owner takes most of the blame then the players and the amount of managers we've gone through.

  37. I can't stand Cornette's podcast. I like Corny and all, but his takes on modern wrestling are garbage. I was listening to his review of WM35 and this was about the umpteenth time he had a problem with the champion not being handsome and dressed in a suit and whatever the fuck. Like, that shit just doesn't work that well anymore. Anyway, him talking about buying EIGHT double cheeseburgers from Wendys was something else. The cherry on top was saying you can't go with the triple because when you try to reheat it later the bun falls apart.

  38. Amidst the chaos of the Superstar Shake-up, I forgot about one golden nugget from Xavier Woods and I'm ashamed of myself because I've used this quote here. As KO was putting on his New Day gear, Woods is chanting "One of us, One of us."

  40. Thanks, man. I don't want to clutter up this thread with my personal shit, but this was several years ago. She took a double dose of her medication (on accident?) and didn't wake up the next morning. Sometime that night she stopped breathing and went 7 or 8 hours without oxygen to her brain, which created holes, and went into a coma. She already has MS, so this entire thing was just icing on top and lead to some speculation about how/why this all happened to begin with. But somehow she came out of it, I don't know how. Her doctor speculates that it was due to the medication they were giving her at the hospital, and then he came in to consult on her case and ended up changing doses and switching out drugs for others and here we are today. She's got slight brain damage (just like my Dad), but all things considered, it could be a whole lot worse. Which is why I guess I connected with Ogogo's story. That, and he's a Bronze medal winner in a recent(ish) Olympic Games, which can't hurt things. The chances of him being a prodigy like Angle are slim to none, since I think that was a once in a blue moon type thing (although Rousey will put that theory to bed if she continues on past her Year One WWE run). Having more legitimate athletes in wrestling can't hurt pro wrestling - but it's also all in what you do with said talent (I'm looking at you, WWE - you've got Chad Gable and you're doing nothing with him!).
