  1. Bret was a great finish guy, period. KOTR 93 when he's told not to use the Sharpshooter? Comes up with three completely different, really exciting finishes and an explanation why the Sharpshooter is off the table to boot.

  2. You don't need Alberto Del Rio because: ADR's burnt so many bridges. The roster is packed with talent better than ADR. The roster is huge. You already have Rey Mysterio and Andrade. Case closed.

  3. Diesel’s reaction put that over the top...great match, great finish, great post-match change of direction in the Diesel character.

  4. I'm already calling a spot where Becky has Ronda in the DisarmHer, and Charlotte hits the Natural Selection out of fucking nowhere for a 2.9 - and 75000 people in attendance have a collective heart attack.

  5. Two of Bundy's cats have been adopted, Pat and Gio, I believe. I reached out to my friend Ben, who trained at the Monster Factory. In turn, he reached out to his friends and other trainees.

  6. I love how this has basically turned into the Bret Hart appreciation thread since Wrestlemania doesn't look particularly interesting. Charlotte being shoehorned into Ronda/Becky rather than getting Charlotte/Asuka II and Vince being put into Bryan/Kofi as a re-do of Bryan vs. The Authority has pretty much killed my interest in those matches. Brock/Rollins...I just don't care. Back to Bret and Wrestlemania, I think Harts vs. the Nasties from WM7 is pretty underrated. The Nasties were dragged to perhaps their best match, certainly their best that wasn't a no DQ match. At least the Nasties title reign was only to transition the belts to LOD, which was a fun no DQ match at Summerslam '91.

  7. Plus Paige is still employed by WWE. I think just based on their past, they wouldn't give him another chance while she was still there.

  8. Seriously, who in their right mind is thinking to themselves, “You know what Monday Night Corbin needs? Alberto.”

  12. I hated, hated, hated Flashpoint. I think that I would've liked it more if it had "just" been an event as it was clearly originally planned, rather than being a catalyst for erasing the DCU I loved and launching the Nu52. Looking back, I don't think I'm ever gonna be on board with child-murdering Wonder Woman or certain other things in the story but the only reason it pissed me off more than something like Injustice was that they turned it into a total reboot instead of using it to throw the 'real' DCU into sharp relief. When i saw the cartoon a few years after, when I'd kind of accepted that I was an undesirable peripheral demographic for the comics and moved on, I was able to enjoy it more.

  16. There's that, too. "Best" is such an abstract concept when discussing...anything, really.

  21. I'm with Cliff. i enjoyed each issue as they came out, in a "summer blockbuster" way (plus I'm a big fan of AU stuff) but the way it turned into a total reboot absolutely killed it for me. the damage to the New Teen Titans (who?) alone was enough to make me turn out. discarding the entire Golden Age further pushed me away.

  22. Velveteen Dream in NXT for a little longer may do him good, added experience plus the hits and misses of NXT callups on the main roster. Also be nice to get some stability for the NXT North American Championship. Counting the first champion, Adam Cole, we've had four champions in less than a year.

  25. Dream’s good. But for a big show like this, you know Riddle’s going to bring his workin’ flip flops.

  26. Carrying the Bret Hart love in, Bret was the master of the flash pin countering Roddy Piper's Sleeper at WrestleMania VIII and using the same to the Million Dollar Dream by Steve Austin at Survivor Series 1996. There's the Victory Roll on Bam Bam Bigelow in the King of the Ring 1993 Finals, Diesel gets Small Packaged at Survivor Series 1995 and British Bulldog pinned with La Magistral at In Your House 5. Yet Bret Hart could be caught by them. Think to the Sunset Flip counter by British Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992 and Bret Hart's Victory Roll attempt reversed by Owen Hart at WrestleMania X.

  28. That five man was a blast. I love matches where everyone gets their shine. And I doubly love it when the person who wins does so because of their greatest strength. Adam Cole won because he's a sneaky opportunist and grabbed the ball. I would be super into Heel Matt Riddle. Party-bros into UFC are the worst people in the world to me. All I keep saying to myself when I watch him wrestle is "Wow, that knot he tied that dude up into was super cool, now can the UE or someone please hit him with a car in the parking lot?" Velveteen Dream is the best guy in NXT right now and I think might be the best guy they've ever made in-house. His first debut in the character was as a Stevie Richards-style putz doing a Chapelle-As-Prince bit and getting knocked the f out by Shinsuke. Now he's this over-the-top spotlight hog who wrestles as his character better than anyone else they've ever developed. I've been all in on The Experience since Day 1 and my fandom just grows by the day.

  31. Vengeance ‘03 might be a sleeper top ten WWE PPV all time. Especially crazy when you look at two separate McMahon matches. That show has a bit of everything, from sports entertainment silliness to top tier rasslin.

  33. I remember bringing up Bret's suplexes to my trainer (during my 4 week pro-wrestling vocation) and the fact he'd furiously hit the mat with his unoccupied arm to really magnify the effects of the move. Bret's turnbuckle bumps always looked incredible too. Fuck it, gonna go ahead and fire up the network and watch some Bret today. No-one better.
