  1. Much like you I need this in my life. Thankfully they linked to where you can get them. https://wipertagstore.com/products/brawling-wrestlers-wipertags And you know you want to see it in action: Aw, sonofabitch, I don't have rear windshield wipers! Well, so much for my car. Unless I can convince my wife to put them on hers...

  2. I just wanted to check in since it's been three weeks since I last posted to this thread. First off, huge thanks to @J.T., @Technico Support @Contentious C, @Craig H for the words of sympathy and the advice. My head's firmly above water, I've been keeping my distance from her and making a point of trying to drag my individual friends out of the house more. One thing she remarked upon as a stressor in our relationship was that when my friend group largely collapsed in a wave of people turning 40 and feeling too old to hang out in bars and shit, and I no longer had a trivia night to go to or a monthly karaoke date with ten other people, I left too many of my expectations for not-sitting-at-home-alone on her shoulders. She was right about that and I'm trying to take it to heart. I've made it a point not to keep booze around the house (because if I'm home alone I've always been too willing to get a buzz going and play Injustice, and I don't want to exacerbate that with breakup sad on top of regular depression) and I'm actively seeking out new social opportunities. I'm not "okay", to be honest I'm pretty angry at both her and myself some of the shit I put up with while I was walking on eggshells. And SXSW has put a cramp in my social opportunities since it fucks bus and rideshare and none of my friends want to deal with the bullshit, and my age and awkwardness make me not want to go to big-ass tourist parties alone. So...I'm still wallowing a little, but I think things are going to start getting easier next week when there's not a goddamn forcefield around downtown making it impossible for me to go anywhere north of the river and unpalatable for my friends to come down here. ETA: To answer J.T.'s assumption before, currently neither of us are in therapy. My prior doctor retired and I've been having trouble finding a specialist who takes my insurance and who can be reached without spending as much to get there and home as I spend on my copay. I'm on a couple waiting lists but have no idea when I'll be able to go back. She hasn't been to a therapist in over fifteen years and flat out refuses to go, which was a source of friction; nothing would end a conversation about the troubles we were having faster than my suggesting we go to a couple therapist.

  6. Lucha Underground dicking people around with their contracts from beyond the grave should make them the worst promotion.

  7. When I hear "attitude issues" and don't hear specifics and it's a female wrestler, I tend to believe it stems from "won't fuck some sleazebag to get ahead" because wrestling is gross just like Hollywood.

  8. Yeah, 1999 on PPV wasn't the best. ECW was the most consistent. The good 1999 PPV's stand at WWF Backlash, WWF No Mercy, WCW Spring Stampede, ECW Living Dangerously, ECW Hardcore Heaven and ECW Anarchy Rulz 1999 (PPV of the year).

  13. Look. I know some of y'all think you're being cute calling people "stans" and now "roverts," but it's fucking dumb. The word fan is right fucking there. It's a word that has worked for fucking ever. You don't need to call people stans or roverts or whatever other dumb fucking thing some of you will think up. It's the stupidest thing and it makes me wish framistans were back. At least with word filters, you'd be forced to stop using whatever dumb or cutesy word you think is clever. Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes.

  14. I was at night 6, since Nara Centennial Hall is about a four-minute walk from my place. It is a great building to watch wrestling in. It was the first time NJPW has been to Nara in 15 years. I hope they come back soon. It was pretty nice to be able to walk to a show. Ospreay vs Archer was a GREAT big man vs little man match. I really hope it comes across on video. They had the crowd in the palm of their hands and told a great story in there. Best Archer performance I have seen. Ospreay's selling and story-telling have come a long way in the past couple of years. Loved it. They had me legit marking out at some of the near-falls. It was a fun show overall with a great crowd. Lots of little kids who were super into everything, A handful of other gaijin in the crowd, too. People screaming out taunts for Nakanishi and Kojima in the early matches... Just a good time. Really glad I was able to be there.

  15. The fact that you've not posted a link to this MMA fight leads me to believe you don't love us. Oh dear god. The ref has to demand that the fighters have actually taken a shower in the past few days.

  16. Anarchy Rulz 99 was one of my all time fav PPVs. Love the Lynn/Storm opener, the excitement having no idea what's going on in the whole Awesome/Taz deal. RVD was my favorite guy and that being the main event almost made me think another title change was coming, always thought it was a really good match overall.

  18. Oh totally. I ran into Balls at a Life of Agony concert in 2005ish and he was the happiest, friendliest guy ever. He was just happy to be recognized, introduced me to his wife and wound up talking with me for like an hour about wrestling, music and being from NJ.

  19. Balls is criminally underrated by people because his bread and butter was hardcore stuff but he was actually pretty good. In terms of having RVD's best singles matches you could make a strong case Balls is second only to Jerry Lynn.

  21. Yeah... the thing about that was it wasn't Tessa Victoria got her confused with another wrestler (and also responded to a fake Tessa Twitter account) But as we can see - once it gets out there the correction never gets as much attention as the original story.

  23. Good on ya buddy for at least seeking a new doctor. I totally empathize with you. My old therapist retired as well and despite there being a litany of psychologists and therapists in the area, I'm on a waiting list at a few places and no one else is taking patients despite my insurance website saying those people are taking patients. It sucks when you want to work on your problems and challenges with a professional and can't. I really need to address my fears of doom and other stuff and I can only take so much xanax and meditate in a day. Hang in there though. It sounds like you're doing the right stuff.

  24. I don't think it was ever thrown around casually or anything, but there were certainly times that I saw it on the board. I remember someone transcribing a Kanyon interview about a homophobic SmackDown segment where he was instructed to sing a song and told to "sing it like a cigarette," which I liked so much I made it a song title for my old shitty band.

  30. The only thing I didn't like about Balls/RVD was that they debuted a top rope Nutcracker Suite in that match and it only got a two count.

  33. The weird thing on that part...it may be a hot take, but that PPV wasn't as terrible as advertised. The lows were lower than any other PPV, yes, but take out the main event and it was about the same quality as any other American PPV in 1999 was. (Granted, 1999 may be the single worst year of pro wrestling quality-wise, but still.)

  34. It's almost 3am, so I'm bored, and... yeah, I'm watching the Heroes of Wrestling PPV from 1999. Just to see how bad it is. But then I start searching for other things while I'm watching it, mainly the WWA promotion from the early 2000s, and I stumble upon a channel that has full events from W*ING, IWA Japan, Tri-State Wrestling Alliance, 1PW, early Big Japan, and eight volumes of FMW stuff called "Story of the F". Oh and some full shows of 80s/90s NWA, WCW and WWF house shows. Never knew Tenryu and Yokozuna faced off (or Undertaker/Shinzaki) on a WWF house in Japan, but here we are. It's gonna be a busy weekend.

  38. I think the HOF is such a great way to show guys like Stevie Ray some appreciation. I used to shit on it a bit, and I still make fun of it, but it is always nice to see those guys I grew up watching on that stage getting their due respect. Except for Jimmy Snuka.....fuck him.
