  1. Most people use that on Twitter when they’re trying to stay under the character limit.

  4. Oh, so now Ronda’s mma career is comparable to Enzo’s wrestling career? Glad we’re not being ridiculous.

  9. It's unfair to suggest that idolizing John Wayne makes you a bad person, especially on a message board where people still say "but I still like Benoit's matches."

  14. Almost as if time marches on in fighting arts as well. How about that? Seriously, Jack Johnson would probably get killed by virtually any pro boxer in the sport today, but it doesn't mean that he's some sort of joke either. Saying someone like Ronda's no better at MMA than Enzo Amore was as a wrestler because she's not as good as Nunes is ridiculous.

  16. So in the newly unearthed 1980 AJPW TV footage, there was a Destroyer vs Abdullah match. It's much more of a bloody, head-butty brawl than you usually saw from him and is very good. We covered it today on SC (it was honestly in the rotation for this week anyway because the Network didn't deliver "matches"; we got different gold). I'm glad that we were able to give him a tribute though. Here's our coverage: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2019/03/new-footage-friday-destroyer-abby.html Here's the match: And here's what he sent to Abby when he couldn't make his retirement show:

  17. 1.) Agreed 2.) I like this a LOT! 3.) This is why we can't have nice things. There is nothing in baseball that is abused quite as badly as mound visits. A universal gesture for STFU and throw strikes goes a long ways to solving this problem. FWIW: I have no problem with the testicle shocks either. 4.) This is just silliness that should be quashed and quashed quickly. 5.) If it can be proven that the technology is accurate enough I'd be very interested in seeing this put into actual practice. I, for one am sick to death of umpires arbitrarily defining their own strike zone, or worse; varying it from player to player as they see fit. The strike zone is the strike zone, it doesn't change just because you happen to think that the batter is an asshat. 6.) Screw all that, in the hundred years that have passed since he said it, no one has improved on Wee Willie Keeler's maxim: "Hit 'em where they ain't!" If you're not prepared to do this, stay in AA and leave the Big Show to the guys that actually come to play. 7.) Something still needs to be done about batters preening and prancing about between every pitch. Yes, I know everyone likes to get shown on ESPN but if we're going to eliminate mound visits, it needs to go both ways. The Mike Hargrove-like human rain delay shit needs to cease like yesterday. If you really must make all these minor adjustments to your uniform it isn't properly fitted. Wear a fucking dress at your next AB. I think everyone can agree that a huge part of the charm of baseball is the wide variety of things that can happen on every single pitch. That said, there is a fine line between strategic planning and wasting everyone's time. We don't need to speed the game up so much as we need to eliminate time-wasting foolishness. Say that you're the #5 or #6 batter, you've had plenty of time to make sure that everything is hunky-dory with your uniform. Coming up to bat and fidgeting with your batting gloves, helmet, whathaveyou is simply unacceptable. There's a ticking clock in every major sport, just because you don't see it being invoked doesn't mean it isn't there.

  18. Movie was fucking awesome. Slow start, but the back 2/3 was so damn good. Stuff at the start was good too, but it really finds itself about 45 minutes in. LOVED the Stan Lee cameo and their tribute to him.

  19. The buildup to mania and the women's match in particular (that pic The Natural posted spells it all out) reminds me of those videos I've seen of common core math. Taking a simple concept that should require no complex setup and do it in the most convoluted way possible. Then throw in a rant about how math isn't real while you're doing it.

  23. I hate the shift as a strategy, but I despise this rule. The shift exists because batting coaches seemed to stop teaching batters how to use the field, and since every MLB park in existance shortens right field for da long ball, every friggin left hand batter pulls right. You want to stop the shift, teach your fucking batters to use the whole field.

  24. I get that some people are like "Oh yeah, this is cool" or ok with the Ronda stuff, but the shooty stuff is Russo era BS that should've been left in the 90's. Having your now top heel constantly shitting on the industry with scripted and fake doesn't help a damn thing. Because at the end, Ronda won't be less because she'll walk and be like "Yeah, I got to fake act everything, so I didn't really lose".

  25. Yeah, I loved this movie. If anything, it makes me want to see more of Carol Danvers as soon as possible, and a solo Nick Fury movie. Every appearance prior to this is so much different than how he is in this movie, and that needs to be explored. Maybe it'll be expanded upon in the Black Widow movie a little bit, like how in Captain Marvel we got more context about the Fury character. He needs more fleshing out to complete everything. Ben Mendelsohn was fantastic in this, too. Pretty much everyone was great. More, please.

  27. Fan to Terry Funk: "When you knocked Mr Pogo off the apron (and he injured his neck), did you mean to hurt him?" Funk: "Well, I meant for him to land on the barbed wire that was down there, and I meant for him to land on the beds of nails that were down there, and I meant for him to land on the sheets of glass that were down there, and I meant for him to land on the explosives that were down there, but... no, I didn't mean to hurt him".

  28. Nakajima has always been a serviceable babyface kick-man, but his heel turn has been a revelation. The tag against Nomura has one of 2018's nastiest finishes, and his title challenge against Sugiura is one of my favorite matches of last year. (Both are on the streaming site that shall not be named. Sadly, most of his best/recent work seems to be sequestered there.)

  30. I don't quite get what made them change their mind. I guess the argument is that the ball came back from a Watford player, although that only happened because Sterling was offside and the defender needed to make a play on the ball.

  32. Tessa and Havok were having one of the best matches in the shows running until the ending. Great cliffhanger to end the season. Stiff shots, Tessa turned into a machine for the end stretch. Great stuff, I'm interested if they've met outside wow before. Kobra and Khloe was kinda bad, but it was still Khloe's best work. They definitely could have found Kobra a better opponent. The tag match was here and there. Princess Aussie, whose gimmick I hate btw, can take a beating. I didnt feel like she had enough support from the crowd to really build that hot tag and she should have ate the pin instead of Azteca. Never really liked Holidead, whose gimmick I hate btw, and I'm not a fan if Vodoo. They work as a team though for the sake of building teams if they're planning on bringing the tag titles into the picture. Glad to hear they were picked up for another season. I think they're going to be good about the feedback they've received, but its a pretty good format they have working now. Hope they can bring in some more good wrestlers. Iveliese, Melissa Anderson, Shotzi, and a few other west coast girls would fit in well. I'd like to see a Japanese talent too.
