  1. It's far better to be less talented but to have a great sense of what to do with the talents you have than to be super talented but to have no idea how to use that talent properly.

  3. I think people were under the misapprehension, however reasonable, that WWE Starrcade would in some way shape or form actually resemble Starrcade, especially when it was in Greensboro, as it was last year. It ended up being a house show with a few legends making appearances. This year was basically that, with a few sections edited together into a one hour Network show. So yeah, in 2017, the gripe was that we couldn't see Starrcade. In 2018, the gripe was that they put an hour of house show content on the network and called it Starrcade. Peoples' reactions make perfect sense when you look at them in context. Or you can just not cuz you want to be contrarian.

  4. It feels like Balor has only faced off against Lashley or Corbin this year. It's just the same shit over and over again.

  5. Stan Lane's spinning back kick deserves a GIFs thread of its own, tbh.

  6. I haven't seen a gif of Drake Maverick pissing on Roode's robe but yes that's another thing that happened tonight. Is anyone besides Vince entertained by all this pee stuff? That's about as low brow as television can get. The kind of stuff that would have your wife looking at you sideways.

  7. I didn't want to say anything about it in last week's thread but this was the first Raw in 25 years where I chose not to watch it. If I'm elsewhere or something happens where I can't watch it that's one thing. But I can't remember a time where I can watch it and chose not to. A big part of it is the negative tone it gives anymore. But knowing that Vince wants Roman brought up more in the Seth-Dean feud was another big factor. I know a lot of you have done this a long time before I did and it's relatively trivial. But after last week and hearing about tonight it seems I made the right decision. It's just a damn shame but it's going to take something special to get me back to watching live.

  8. D-Lo wasn't headbanging. I am a metalhead until I die and will always defend metal, so I respectfully disgaree, and say D-Lo didn't do it better. and now because you don't really need a reason

  12. I merged in the Kurt Angle thread because frankly it belongs in here. Please don't open new threads about a specific wrestler unless there's a seriously compelling reason to do so. "Hey wasn't Kurt Angle cool?" is not a seriously compelling reason.

  13. I was always very impressed by his ability to do both credible comedy work and straight up no-bullshit pro wres. Most guys can only do one or the other, and typically no one excels at both facets. Kurt's comedy work never made him any less of a threat as a dude that would murderfuck you in the ring, and I think it made his lighthearted moments all the more enjoyable.

  14. I hope the Renee/Graves stuff is leading to Corey getting a kick in the dick. If Graves wasn't on the no touch list, I'd hope for Ambrose beating the shit out of him, but not without stealing his Mighty Mighty Bosstones suit. One day, who knows? Someday, I suppose.

  15. Do WWE not realize they write the same stuff on repeat? Even if it's done all on ONE show? Corbin gets swarm of wrestlers to attack Elias. Nia gets swarm of wrestlers to attack Nattie and Rhonda. Alexa gets swarm of wrestlers to attack Sasha and Bayley. Corbin gets swarm of wrestlers to attack Balor. All on the same show. But I guess at least the babyface women will actually try to help each other out when they're in trouble.

  16. Wow that show was horrible. I stopped Midway through to watch ROH on the fite app. Came back and saw Drake Maverick pissing on Bobby's robe. I hoped the open challenge thing would be interesting but it was just Dolph. At least Renee and her moral outrage at Corbin echoed the feelings of anyone watching the show. This was so terrible on so many levels.

  17. Raw: Corbin and Alexa compete to see who can get the audience to change the channel quicker. Dreadful show.

  18. Social media is going crazy about the fact that Green Bay has the same record as Cleveland right now. My only coment: That's only because Cleveland waited until week 3 to put Mayfield in.

  21. Moveset is a funny thing where it should not only be things you do well but have some sort of insight into the character and their strengths. Punk''s set never really worked because his execution was shoddy which failed to accentuate his 'Best in the World' gimmick. If he would have done things he could do well rather than scoop up moves from Japan, he would have been better served. He didn't realize and work to his limits.

  27. How do I put this. Let's see. Let's try an analogy. Kurt Angle Olympic wrestling is to CM Punk MMA fighting as CM Punk pro wrestling is to Kurt Angle pro wrestling.

  31. I bought myself a mean as fuck looking bear head hat from a trapper that made me look about 8 foot tall and I thought I was the baddest looking motherfucker on the planet but then all these posh twats in Saint Denis started making bitchy snide comments about how ridiculous I looked with my bear head hat and it took all of my restraint to stop myself murdering everyone in the whole damn town. I would have too except you can't fucking jaywalk in Saint Denis without 57 lawmen putting 257 bullets in you.

  32. Starrcade is essentially the Wrestlemania before Wrestlemania so I thought this deserved it's own thread. The production of this show was very different from Raw or Smackdown and I think that was beneficial to the overall presentation. It looked really different, I also like how the commentators didn't have to plug social media every 15 seconds and just called the matches. Crowd was hotter than the average Raw or Smackdown too. it looked like a packed house full of people having an awesome time The Elias Concert was cool, Flair is getting old man. It is awesome to see him especially after he almost died last year but it took him a minute to the ring, but onc ehe had that mic brother it was 35 years ago. Throughout this show I do love the ECW style bleed ins segment to segment. Nia Jax and the heel team come out. Ric looked like this was gonna turn into a sex orgy or something. Nia is the biggest heel in the company right now after breaking Becky's face. Her singing poorly during Elias' song and not knowing she was a bad singer is a classic heel move. That 8 women match was good. Baylay played Ricky Morton for the heels, everyone got their shit in and Sasha won the Match for her team making Alicia Fox tap to the Bank Statement. In Network Special of the past they are presented as standalone almost non canon to Raw and Smackdown but during the Miz TV segment the big angle being pushed was Randy's assault to Rey at the end of that past weeks Smackdown. Rey was in a soft neck brace, Nakamura said he enjoyed watching Randy kick Reys ass, Miz laughed at Rey. Furthering the bigger angle of Rey vs Randy Orton while also adding heat towards the match between Nakamura and Rey on this show. I do think it's cool to have the United States Championship, the championship that dates back 35 years ago to the first Starrcade defended on this show. Nakamura vs Rey I liked, Ilike Nakamura's bored nihilist character, Nak attacking an injured Rey before the match from behind, he keep up the attack with knees and kicks keeping Rey grounded. Rey would counter a move after a couple Minutes but Nakamura would also regain control quickly. This changes as Rey baseball slides out of the ring, jumps off the top, Nak ducks and Rey hits Miz at ringside by Mizstake (get it?). Rey takes control in the ring, sets up the 619 and Miz grabs Rey's leg and pulls him out of the ring. Nak and Miz double team Rey. Rusev makes the save and the crowd losses their minds. It is Rusev Day after all. The tag match between Miz and Nakamura vs Rey and Rusev was your standard tag match. I don't mean that disperingly it was a good match just nothing out of the ordinary. Rey played Ricky Morton in the heel corner, hot tag, Rusev dominates Miz, double 619, Rusev hits the machka kick on Miz for the 3. So there's some kick back about this not really being Starrcade. Well it isn't 1986 Crockett because it can't be 1986 Crockett. I do believe if crockett was still around today AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe would would be the main event of a Starrcade. Albeit for the world championship and more blood but it would still be in a steel cage, well one of the Starrcades they main evented together. The match was really good, Joe and AJ have it down to a science by now. I do like how they incorporated uses the cage as a weapon. This wasn't about escaping the cage this was about be in a cage with someone who just wanna kick the shit out of on both sides. That to me always makes for the better cage match. Joe taps, he needs to win a major match soon. I'm surprised he hasn't won a secondary championship yet. The US title is right there. I liked this show. It wasn't Starrcade of the old but it felt like something different than Raw and Smackdown. It felt more pro wrasslin than it did sports entertainment. I very much enjoyed that. The two none wrestling segments were down in the ring, no backstage, and both times it led into the next match. it served the wrestling. it was a breath of fresh air of what you normally see on WWE tv. Thats always what Crockett/WCW felt like to me , an entirely different presentation from the WWF. I know this is WWE produced and featured the same stars on Raw and Smackdown but the overall atmosphere was different. The crowd for one was hotter than some Raws are. it was a fun hour of wrestling. It felt like we were peeking into what a WWe Live Event looks like.

  33. Really enjoyed Creed 2. If I was ever a badass professional boxer or mixed martial artist, I would love for my ride or die pop diva hot wife to croon my entrance music live as I walked to the ring. That was fire. I also marked for what (BP) marked for. WHAT~?? My only minor nitpick with the ending of the movie is that I think it would've been good for Creed to go over give Viktor a bro hug or at least touch gloves with the man in a display of sportsmanship. I think it was a missed opportunity to show that Creed had truly left everything in the ring that night. Other than that, million billion stars. I was kinda bummed that Adonis moved up a weight class, but all was forgiven when the title fight in Russia went down. By the time there is a sequel, Pretty Ricky Conlan should be out of prison in the Rockyverse. BOOK THE REMATCH~!

  34. I'm not sure if any wrestler has impacted the modern style of wrestling more then Kurt Angle, and I do not think that is remotely a good thing.

  35. Philip Rivers has been pulled for Geno Smith with the Chargers leading the Cardinals 42-10. Rivers' final numbers: 28/29, 259 yards, 3 TD If he stays on the bench and doesn't throw another pass today, he will finish today with the highest single-game completion percentage in NFL history at 96.6%. He also set an NFL record by completing his first 25 passes in a row.

  36. I'm old enough to remember the KURTIE sub-forum. I really can't imagine willingly rewatching Kurt Angle matches to be quite honest. Ultimately he was a solid, legitimate, opponent for guys like The Rock, Austin, Taker and HHH and thus he was valuable. Picked up bad habits and never unlearnt them, which is regrettable. Stunted by his early growth. But in some ways his bigger problem was coming in to the HHH/Austin/Rock snake pit at the wrong time. Dude could have actually been a bigger star, but the heel turn during the Invasion angle fucked him. Again, stunted by his early growth perhaps.
