  1. I think my biggest mark out moment was Beth Phoenix getting to call "the blood rushing to her head!" moment during the delayed suplex in the main event. She jumped on it so hard, you could tell she'd been waiting to do that maybe her entire wrestling fan life.

  2. Naaah, I wouldn’t let it get that far. The logical end for the show would be the first PPV as a testament to all the deals and ducking diving Giamatti pulled off to get it that far, and then as the crowd cheers and the first wrestlers go out to kick off the show we fade to a graphic like on the last episode of Quantum Leap that just says “Paul Heyman never paid his wrestlers...”

  3. Well, they've already come kinda close. Action Bronson, RVD, and Sabu stoned out of their minds.

  4. I never got the sense Punk and Bryan were super close. Fans always linked them based on where they came from, but they never struck me as buddies. Just peers and coworkers.

  5. What are you talking about? Gargano already has the main roster “Face comes up short and looks stupid in the process” thing perfected.

  6. WWE returns to the UK this November. I've seen WWE Live before the roster split was brought back and once when it was reintroduced. I preferred pre -split because it's RAW or Smackdown Live whereas before wrestlers were assigned to a show not tied to a specific brand. It's great if you get the roster you want as I did in November 2016 (RAW) but not in November 2018 (Smackdown Live) and November 2018 (RAW). I might be skipping the RAW roster even though I haven't watched two favourites in Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman live before. Smackdown Live features more of my favourites: Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Becky Lynch, Asuka and the Bar. I haven't seen Joe and Asuka at a live WWE event. Which roster would you rather see live at an event? I'm going to predict Smackdown Live is the winner.

  7. That certainly seems to be how they feel, but I don't see why. Do something new, give someone the rub. I mean, I love Taker/HBK matches, but I can't imagine broken down Undertaker vs retired for 9 years Michaels would ever come close to living up to even Mania XVI much less Hell in a Cell. But Shawn against an up and comer? Someone that can cover of HBK is off a step or two (or just in his low gear setting that he was for most of the 00's) and can benefit from having a match? That might be worth doing.

  8. That pictures reminds me of when, during the Smashing Crumpet tournament I kept finding pictures of literally dozens of female Wrestlers, from all over the world, who were all for some reason wearing a uniform of a white shirt, a red plain miniskirt and fishnets? Someone at google images must have thought I was a right wierdo after that.

  9. No, no, you're thinking of Lance Armstrong ditching Sheryl Crow when she was battling cancer after she stuck by his side during his battle with cancer. So yes, so many choices. You know, this is one of those things that is just unfathomable to me. Even if it was a situation where my wife was dying and told me to move on, I honestly don't think I could. At the very least, it would take a lot of therapy to even date again. So to cheat on a spouse or leave them during their fight with cancer seems so scummy.

  10. I still think that “you’re going to wrestle...SHEAMUS...on the preshow unless [condition/obstacle]!” should have become an annual gimmick storyline to threaten a babyface, eventually leading to Sheamus growing resentful at being used as a preshow punishment wasting 3-4 years of his career, and then snapping with a big face turn.

  11. It's not easy avoiding such comments when the WWE track record is so abysmal. Let's see: Joe, Finn, & Nak pretty much survived intact. Of course, all three guys have over ten years experience working all over the world. So far, Almas is fine, and hopefully will remain so, Sami went from the most beloved wrestler in the whole company to a non-entity and now they seem to have nothing for Kevin Owens to do other than get squashed. It's not like they've done anything to inspire confidence. Don't even get me started on what they've done with Asuka.

  13. We should have a generator where people can just insert “will be ruined” after any NXT name is mentioned. That would streamline the whole process entirely and maybe we could get into talking about NXT as it’s own product and not who is going to be “ruined” when they are called up.

  15. Especially as the match also featured: -Becky trying to roll Charlotte up from behind. -Carmella tricking Becky into thinking Charlotte had slapped her. -Charlotte trying to apologize to Becky mid-match and almost losing for it. -Becky interrupting a Charlotte Figure 8 with a guillotine legdrop, in an analogous spot to the match's finish.

  17. Netflix already has Glow. You gotta go to Hulu or Amazon. Now I'm imagining each service having a series about a different wrestling promotion. Except in the case of Amazon, it's about WWE, but it's similar to the Man in the High Castle where WCW won because elder Bischoff is tape trading across dimensions to see what WWE was doing to know how to beat them.

  18. I doubt it goes anywhere, but the idle speculation from yesterday about Michael B.Jordan playing Superman sounds so awesome for two reasons. 1) I think he'd knock it out of the park playing that role, but I'm biased because I love everything he's done. 2) Oh man, the sweet, sweet tears of all of the racists and idiots on twitter will be very, very salty.

  23. Nearly a year later, I'm still randomly remember and start giggling about "I was going to go through proper channels, but then I remembered I'm a naughty bitch" It's one of the two funniest tv moments I've seen in the last year plus, along with "getaway donkeys" in Preacher last year.

  24. As fond as I am of much of her NXT work, Bayley is a complicated example. Its not as simple as 'WWE held her back'--rather her weaknesses weren't properly addressed in NXT and they badly hurt her on the main roster. Moments like her post-HIAC Raw Talk promo highlighted issues with improvising on the mic (that when you look back are obvious in NXT, like her awkward guest commentary spot shortly before Brooklyn II), and in general she hasn't really developed as a performer, especially on the mic. You can cover that up in NXT due to its vastly different structure, but it really hurts on the main roster. If you can't talk at least decently or can't act backstage segments well, then it makes it harder for writers to fit you into segments or use you on the mic--this is one reason the dynamics in the Charlotte/Bayley and Bayley/Alexa feuds were the way they were. The booking of the latter was especially bad in some ways, but I think part of why is that they were trying to avoid exposing Bayley's mic issues against someone as good on it as Alexa is. Combine that with inconsistent in-ring performances (the highlight of her WWE run is that excellent 2/13/17 Raw main event with Charlotte, but even that followed a nervous performance at the Royal Rumble), and its a difficult thing.

  25. Some pretty bad wrestling in this one. I don't know what a Priscilla Kelly is but she makes some faces. She says she gets in the head of her opponents but then does none of that. She didn't look at all comfortable doing some of Purrazzo's complicated spots. And then her spots felt like they didn't fit in the flow of the story. It just felt like over complicated wrestling by people who couldn't perform it all cleanly. Then it got WORSE with the Aerial Monroe match. I like her look and her presence. I don't know about her nickname. I feel like if you're going to have the name Aerial Monroe, you don't also get "Big Swole". But if her heart is set on it, she should probably be more Big. And more Swole-y. Once this thing got started it just looked like a sloppy mess. I'm pretty sure early on Monroe got hit, but Zeuxis sold it like she got hit, and Monroe looked up confused. It looked like someone was going to get hurt at a couple of points. Zeuxis was the second person to say she was Strong Style and..was not. I'd like to see Monroe wrestle again with anyone else. This was a bad pairing. Thankfully Kacy and Reina got in the ring, simplified the shit and told a great story. It's amazing how new at this Catanzaro is, and how much better she is than several women I've seen in this so far with more experience. For one thing she has TWO big spots that are fucking clear and easy to follow and she hits them perfectly. Reina is pretty good too. Liked how she took her time with her moves. Made a show of it. Good match. I really wanted Reina to lose it and kick Kacy's ass after the match. Just maul her. It would have been awesome. Then she got back in the ring and held her up. I was fucking PISSED. Martinez was good as usual, but Rayne was off. She has a way of not looking like she can generate any force. Still it was a solid match, perhaps helped by the less than stellar ones that preceded it. And it leads to what I hope to be a great Martinez/Satomura match

  27. Isn’t this sort of every job? Having a good rapport with the top person in your company/division/etc. goes a very long way. It’was doubly true if you are in a creative industry. What is wrong with pitching the boss ideas? Or learning how TV production works (when you essentially work on a TV show)? That isn’t unfair politics or the like. That’s called being a good employee. The boss might not always like your ideas. But if you ask good questions and continue to develop ideas to pitch, you’ll catch a break at some point.

  28. I love damn near every Takeover, but two in particular stick out the most and I remember them the most. First up is Takeover WarGames. It may have been WWE-ized, but holy shit, WE GOT A WAR GAMES MATCH WITH TWO RINGS AND A BIG ASS CAGE! That match is still about the damnedest thing I've seen in an NXT or WWE ring in a long time and I'll take this over TLC matches, endless HiaC matches, and pointless MitB matches. First and foremost, I was never really worried for anyone's safety. Secondly, when risks were taken, they looked like actual risks. WHAT A CONCEPT! Cole went to the top of the cage and when he was there he looked scared shitless enough to have to inchworm his way over to the corner. It made his eventual dive look like even more of a risk even though everyone caught him. Tons of brutality, Killian Dain was the fucking man, Wolfe bled all over, and the right team won. I fucking loved this match and still regularly watch it. It makes this Takeover stand out more than just about any other. Plus, PLUS you had that great match between Dream and Black (SAY! MY! NAME!) and Almas completed one of the best comeback stories in the history of WWE from being a guy who was damn near out of the company to capturing the NXT title. What. A. Fucking. Event. The other may be an obvious pick, but it's Takeover Dallas. The reason why this one stands out to me and is so memorable is for multiple reasons. Some people may not like it, but I loved the main event between Finn and Joe. Joe bleeds early and bleeds a shit load. Every time the match re-starts after it was stopped each guy just starts throwing bombs against each other. I mean, this got to the point where it felt like they were fighting in rounds. Every round they'd come out and just kill each other. Each stoppage built the tension for the finish even more. Hell, you even had Shane McMahon's kids chanting "BULLSHIT!" and "LET THEM FIGHT!" Fucking awesome. Takeover Dallas also gave us Nakamura's best match and maybe Sami's best match in WWE or NXT. You had a fucking amazing tag match between the Revival and American Alpha with Jordan's best hot tag ever and maybe the best meeting between these two teams. Until DIY won the tag titles, this was maybe the greatest tag title victory ever. Plus, Bayley's reign as champion ended as she ran into Asuka. I'm not listing eight others though. It's more meaningful to just point out what you like the most and why.

  31. What gets lost is Paige goofed. Becky goes through all the hoops Paige set for her and earns her shot. Charlotte got a shot because Carmella has a fresh mouth and Paige used Charlotte to get revenge. Little Miss GM didn't look at the ramifications before setting this mess in motion. Of course, Paige can't get eat a punch right now. But they could include her in the story as realizing her mistake and trying to appeal to Becky's decency. It would provide some balance to Becky's actions. Her handling of the situation is wrong, but her feelings are justified.

  33. Asuka doesn't need to talk much, that whole so and so can talk is a lame excuse that territory has used for years, her facial expressions and body language are better than anyone else. Cutting a long promo shouldn't even be a requirement based on your Character. Same with Nakamura he has so much personality without saying much at all. There are alot of American born talent that didnt have any.

  44. The whole thing makes NXT look like shit. Along with the Ascension being jobbers. Skill or whatever aside, if you allow someone to hold your title/titles for a year and dominate your division, you should always protect them to a degree. It has to be Vince who hates Asuka. Charlotte beat her by submission while being poisoned by a ruptured implant. They could have ran the same exact angle with Asuka as champion and Carmella cashing in after the JOB Squad ambushes Asuka. But you can't make WWE have any sort of narrative sense. Its a cliche on forums, but the company is controlled by an elderly brain damaged man with dementia. I don't think Stephanie is much better.
