  1. With next year's being Beyond the Valley of the Brawls?

  2. Social Media is the tool of the devil and the worst thing to ever happen to society. We'd all be better off if we just deleted it and never went back.

  3. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but all this BC OG fuckery is making for a really solid storyline explanation as to why these goofs have never amounted to anything. They're so disorganized and impulsive, they can't get out of their own way. They're so shortsightedly focused on projecting strength at all times, on being the tough guys standing tall at the end of the night, that they're missing the bigger picture and constantly costing themselves points. It's almost like they're in need of a real leader or something.?

  4. Except while cars can physically kill you if used wrong, Social media can destroy you, your ability to earn a living, your family, their ability to earn a living, sway public opinion into hysteria, etc with one tweet or post. It's a fucking cancer that turned society into validation seeking zombies that have zero ability to think for themselves.

  5. Yano/Ibushi - 8 stars. If someone was wearing a monster mask it'd be everything I like in wrestling in one match

  6. The thing is, that was very in keeping with mid-2000s style dark humour. Like, is it REALLY that far outside the kind of shit you'd see on Family Guy or South Park within the era? Never mind the kind of humour that was giving people a profile online. I'm not trying to defend it because it's shit tier humour, in poor taste at best and actively harmful at worst, but Gunn was basically just appealing to an audience that was genuinely taking up a lot of conceptual space in comedy at the time and there are dozens of other comedy writers who were dropping the same kind of jokes into content directly if not on Twitter.

  7. This is kind of neat, in light of his passing, it's even better.

  8. Yano is a genius when it comes to those fuck finishes. I love that the match hinged on Ibushi being an idiot who wasn't going to let a little thing like his hands taped together stop him from getting his shit in.

  9. Cernovich is human garbage, but the dude makes some sound tactical moves. This shit show is a win-win for him and his "cause" no matter the outcome, if Disney rehires Gunn then Cernovich will just cry about "liberal hypocrisy" or some shit and if they don't it will be just another feather on his cap. I tip my hat to Cernovich (just long enough to distract him so I can kick his balls to the Moon).

  10. Fighting over which minor celebrities massive corporations must fire for bad tweets is surely the dumbest front in the Culture War yet

  11. So, I’m pretty sure I’m going to France for a week or perhaps never returning at all to the states, which I’m fine with, in August. I will be staying with someone and don’t have to worry about hotels and all. It’s near the Belgian border. Does anyone have any ideas of entertaining or whatever things to do? I’m a simple man, I don’t require much to excite me. Anyways, have any of you been? I’m going in blind, but my friend, she’s basically gonna hold my hand through it all. Positive words or negativities won’t discourage me. Let them rip.

  15. I think the best way to do this would be to have a big blood fued brawl in the middle of the ring with all of the women and right in the middle of it Steph can stop it to make the announcement and everyone can hug and celebrate. That would be great.

  16. The go home show this past Thursday was fucking balls to the walls. I cannot believe I am buying this PPV and I don't feel like an idiot for doing so.

  18. Me neither, but that's because it's a December release. Shazam could be something. Aquaman isn't nearly OUTRAGEOUS enough.

  19. OH HEY SUDDENLY THE DCEU IS AWESOME AGAIN. Seriously, these look like the breaths of fresh air it needed and Shazam especially should stand out against both the grimdark DC stuff and the relatively bland Marvel formula stuff. Super pumped.

  20. AQUAMAN starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and DOLPH LUNDGREN?!?!? Aquaman is Rafi from THE LEAGUE, and it works.

  21. trying to hold off on ratings (unlike last year when I turned up as a new poster and rated everything whether you wanted it or not) but fuck it here's what i think, have become a slightly harder marker i think but also I do not track with DAVE's assertion this could be the best-wrestled tournament yet. for ease, 4+ in bold. Tama and Yoshi just not at this level ii. a night of G1 action is incredibly good value iii. big matches often deliver iv. Okada probably worked all the worst guys in his block in terms of getting reactions and has done better than a lot.

  22. I'm for all keeping history as is. Never hide who the person truly was. Modifying the written word of any era because of the sensibilities of the time is just lying about what the person was really like. Let people judge for themselves if they want to read it or not. As stated, just put in stuff noting the contents and how bad they are. Or an another horrible option. Three versions! Put it out as is, edited for profit, er, content and for no reason a version in Hebrew. That would go well.

  23. Good deal. It appears from BZ's post that my old friend Jess Nevins and I are in full agreement. Hiding Jean Ray's nastiness only serves to whitewash his horrible opinions. FWIW: Jean Ray may have been a hell of a writer, but he was by all accounts a pretty shitty person (aside from the bigotry), he spent time in prison for swindling people and that sort of thing. As with Lovecraft, I think it perfectly fine to laud him as a great influence on weird fiction, while saying "fuck him" as a person. @mystman, Jean Ray had ample opportunities during his life to relent and he apparently chose not to. For a man who lived through WWII to hold those views is beyond horrifying. He needs to be outed for what he was.

  26. God damn Natio/Robinson was great. Good God Damn Goto/Ishii was outstanding. Ishii is the perfect example of an awesome dude that would you know he's never winning a World Title, he's a perfect solid hand, where he and his offense are credible enough that you believe he can win any match he's in, and he makes just about anyone he's in the ring with look like a Superstar.

  27. Gunn was targeted politically for a reason, and once the tweets were found, Cernovich won. Disney fires Gunn, Cernovich and co get to laugh hardy at the dumb liberals eating theirselves. Disney doesn't fire him, Cernovich and co get to run up the double standard flag and give consertive media something to focus on to distract from the God Emperor's latest fuckups.

  28. I used to regularly go "WHAT IN THE FUCK IS THAT? ... Oh, never mind, it's just Robert." My favorite, for some reason, was this speeding 18 wheeler going the wrong way down probably the busiest road in the game. I barely escaped getting splatted just in time to hear the boom. "Oh, Robert, that explains it." There was one where I managed to chase down some dude, but in the process I completely mowed down Robert. He was completely perfectly under my car when the explosion went off. Crew-on-crew violence.

  31. That seems to be our motto every time. *BOOOOOOOM* "Oh shit dude! Did I get you? I'm sorry." "Did you get the dot? Then I don't give a fuck." That is, if we're not already laughing so hard we can't even speak.

  33. SHAZAM! starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Djimon Hounsou This is basically everything I could ask for in a Captain Marvel movie, and the polar opposite of the DCEU to date.

  35. I'm all for 'Leave in the bad behaviour but with a preface or something to explain/contextualize it'. Not because I love the folks who titter about how THEIR Nancy Drew books are the "Non-PC versions" (ie. racist) but because cleaning up the legacy of racist creators also acts as a sort of de facto sanitized editing of the history of the medium. It's important to discuss and develop on the problems of past creators to help build better fiction and discourse within the genre now.

  40. Joey Gallo is a fucking dope. He's saying that when the shift gets banned, he'll be "nasty again". Someone refresh my memory as to when this Rob Deer clone was nasty? Career BA of .196, and outside of hitting the longball (which I might add, he is still doing at a pretty good clip) what exactly is his game? On top of the fact that the most extreme shifts happen with 2 strikes, and Gallo strikes out a fucking metric ton anyway, why not try to lay one down? Chances are you are going to K anyway if you don't hit into the shift, so give it a shot! All this shit about regulating the shift is just ridiculous to me. Start taking extra BP in which you learn to go the other way consistently, and learn to fucking bunt.
