He is literally becoming Obadiah Stane, and I fucking love it. He has the air of the guy that is comfortable in the spot and confident it's his, so he doesn't have to bother with the bullshit.6 points

They should sign Kenny for the Melbourne show. Not that far to fly. No real timezone issues. Seems a win-win. Also I dont care if Taker and Triple H are 400 years old. Being able to see that entrance live will be enough for me. When we get shows its usually a trumped up house show with half the roster and the main-eventers working tag matches so to get a legitimate, PPV level show, at the biggest stadium in the country (they'll get over 100k in there easily, possibly 115k-120k) is massive for us. I applaud whoever it is behind the scenes that is pushing for these international shows.6 points

I hope Dream stays in NXT for a while. At least until Triple H can protect him on the main roster. His WrestleMania outfit is going to be a highlight every year.4 points

Someone teach Carmella how to fucking sell, because that match could be summarized as "Carmella dominated the overmatched challenger Asuka and was in complete control throughout and then finished her off with a superkick after an unneeded distraction."3 points

Okay, got up early and watched it again just to better organize my thoughts. UA/ Lorcan & Burch. This, my friends is how you open a PPV... Take a team that no one cares about (L & B) and through superior ringwork by all parties draw the viewers in. I'm not as annoyed with Lorcan's occasional no-selling as Mike is as it somewhat fits the character of the guy who is so fired up emotionally that nothing hurts him. On the other hand, I might be giving him far too much credit for nuance. Dream / Ricochet was everything that one could possibly want. After these two matches I was seriously worried about how the rest of the card could possibly hold up. If their smart, they can continue to build on the motif of the Dream only losing through his own hubris; even Mrs. OSJ remarked, "That's too far for him to jump!" Just before his ill-fated miss. Had he not done that and tried some Ricochet-like stunts earlier, he wins. Great match and great storytelling. It did so in the only way possible, Shayna and Nikki weren't going to be able to top the wrestling that we'd seen, but they could tell a remarkable story and that's exactly what they did. Both women left strong, Nikki's still crazy and unpredictable and Shayna's still the champ. I may like the Dutch Destroyer more than most here, but I thought that even with the botch it was a terrific match and Lars is still a monster even though he lost. Black had to pull out every possible move to beat him. I was pleasantly reminded of Finn/Joe and that's far from a bad thing. I do wonder what the future plans for Lars are, he's not ready for the main stage quite yet, and I don't see an immediate program with anyone that makes loads of sense. In a way, I sort of wish that Killian Dain had remained in NXT just so we could have had a much-extended hoss feud between the two. Now, here's where I'll likely draw some heat... Gargano/Ciampa have had better matches, however, they haven't necessarily told better stories and that counts for a lot. Johnny lost because he turned into what he hated. Sooner or later this feud has to end, but for right now, Ciampa is the most despicable heel in wrestling. The wedding ring spot was a thing of beauty. Absolutely great show top to bottom and a solid reminder as to why I no longer bother with the main roster. Y'all can watch the WWE PPV if you want, there's an Into the Badlands marathon on AMC that's going to be far more entertaining.3 points

I'm not saying I deliberately and repeatedly ripped off this exact KO sell when I was a referee, but I deliberately and repeatedly ripped off this exact KO sell when I was a referee.3 points

Also, I went over to a friend's to play some Magic. It was just three of us, but I turned on Takeover to watch it while we played. Both of the friends I hung out with are pretty much lapsed fans and haven't watched any wrestling in a long time. They were really, really blown away by Ricochet, Dream, Black, and the main event. At the end of it they thought it was a lot of fun and way different than what they thought WWE would do. It makes me think that the NXT model may be better for lapsed or casual fans than trying to pull in celebrities or part timers on the main roster.3 points

It took Mark Lawrenson 30 minutes to chastise Paul Pogba for having the audacity to have a haircut when he should have been on 'concentrating on his football.' Look, I'm a United fan, I get that Pogba has been disappointing at times considering his price tag but this old as fuck anorak cardigan wearing shite from miserable old farts like Lawrenson who think because he visits a barber and dances on Instagram means he'll never be a player is absolute shite talk. I kinda want him to become the best player in the world just to spite old fucks like Lawrenson who is a guy who gets paid thousands to travel the world to watch football and makes it sound like a fucking burden. Cheer up, pal, you have one of the best jobs in the world. Anyway, Spain/Portugal was a bonafide classic, the other matches, so far, for the most part...not so much. But there's still time.3 points

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't have a problem with HHH/Undertaker? I mean, do I want to see it at the top of the card? No. But, on the other hand, do I want to see another Reigns main event, or an underwhelming Nakamura/Styles match? That's also a no.3 points

I'll be 61 next month and in case anyone's wondering, I'm in my prime; (well, except for my knees, which could do to be replaced...) I can still pass for early 40's, although the touch of gray has finally made it's presence known.3 points

Go to hellsworth. Why was Asuka just standing there like a mystified idiot? Like a mystified mystic idiot. Like Ultimate Warrior talking to his hands and almost getting himself counted out against Savage at WrestleMania VII. Does the mask represent some diety that she thought suddenly materialized into a man? When Ellsworth revealed himself, why didn’t she immediately punt him in the nuts instead of just standing there like she saw her dead uncle who used to clean himself like a cat at the dinner table? Ellsworth should’ve glued on some chin balls like Butters in the Freak Strike episode. About the time that Ronda was screwing around on the top rope, I knew she wasn’t going to win. It just seemed like random match filler to forestall some twist ending. Then about five seconds later it popped into my head that Alexa was going to cash in. Ronda flying around for Bliss looked as ridiculous to me (to be fair, Daneil Singh posting Roman looked equally silly) as whatever the hell I imagine Cornette gets so worked up with over Kenny Omega working with children and inflatable dolls even though that’s just a goof. Hell, at least she’s over though unlike the inexplicable Carmella garbage. Speaking of goofs, them making a big deal out of Asuka’s streak now seems like some big rib on the audience. Everything that’s went down with the Smackdown Women’s Title post WrestleMania is borderline fingerpoke of doom foolishness.2 points

I tuned in late because I went to Yankees Old Timer's Day. I managed to get a ball for a kid who was celebrating his 10th birthday. Onto MITB, I'm up to AJ/Nakamura, but I don't think I'm going to finish the show. I skipped Roman/Jinder and Asuka/Carmella. The Ellsworth spoiler was a crushing blow. I was so glad after he was released. His act ran its course so fucking fast. Asuka will eventually win the title after her buzz has completely died. I liked the women's MITB, but Alexa again? I get it. She's blonde and hot as fuck, but that's not what I watch women's wrestling for. Did Braun need to win the MITB to go after Brock at Summerslam? AJ/Joe was right fucking there. The only money WWE is getting out of me is for nxt/205 Live/UK guys; everything that has nothing to do with Raw and Smackdown. I should have gone with my gut reaction and not even bothered with this show. Fuck it all, burn it down.2 points

The state of the women's division on both brands, garbage. Alexa and Carmella both need A LOT of work in the ring. I don't think Alexa took one bump during the ladder match and it wasn't part of the story, it's legit because she doesn't know how to bump. Asuka.... going nowhere... the Ellsworth thing is beyond played out. That said, Ronda looked great again and her and Nia were having a pretty good match. Styles/Nakamura was pretty damn good. Rest of the show was ok.2 points

Ronda Rousey's selling was....astounding to me given what I expected from her. From the moment of that powerbomb she genuinely looked surprised and terrified and kind of helpless. Even in her comeback she seemed unsure and there was this tension that it would go sideways at any moment. They had a narrative, that this was the first time she was feeling the power of a real "pro wrestler" "for real" and she played it perfectly. I mean in some ways it boiled down to a very typical monster vs. technician WWE match, but the story they layered over it and her acting made it a lot more dramatic. It ended up being one of the more interestng match narratives in recent memory.2 points

It's not really though. Whilst they do cheat/doublecross here and there, they win clean plenty, cut fun promos in a signature style, have cool RATM ripoff music, and look like they're having a ton of fun. I think they're probably going to have to turn them BayBayFace.2 points

That tag title match was fantastic. I really love everyone involved, even if Danny Burch is at the bottom of that list. I didn't really dig Shayna/Nikki, but like the tag title match competitors, I love Shayna's style so I was entertained (but wasn't super blown away or anything). I wasn't too impressed with Ricochet/Dream either, if I'm being honest. It just didn't click for me. And I'm not entirely sold on Velveteen Dream yet. The character is pretty good, but in-ring he's pretty damn generic in my opinion. I skipped over the NXT title match, because I knew Black was winning and Lars doesn't interest me so it was entirely skippable for me. Now, that main event though. It bolstered the entire show up (for me). Before this, only one match was doing it for me, but the Street Fight was fucking incredible. This was everything their first match should have been, and much more. I don't know about star ratings and shit, but on a scale of 1 to 5 on how much it entertained me, it's like a 7. Some of the spots made me cringe, look away, and jump in my chair. The only nitpick I had was the obvious plant in the crowd with the sign that had a stop sign in between the poster board. That could have felt more natural, but, fuck it, who cares really. Like others have said - the wedding ring spot was fucking dastardly. Side note - I get people like Keith Lee and other new hires being shown in the crowd (to an extent), but I don't see the point in showing actual NXT workers in the crowd like EC3 or Kairi Sane. To pop the crowd or whatever, sure, but we all love to go on about kayfabe... why the fuck were they sitting in the crowd instead of backstage? You could say they were scouting (Kairi was shown before Shayna/Nikki, right?), and in EC3's case it even makes sense for him to do that since he's an egomaniac and would want to be seen... but why is Kairi out there in the crowd watching a match with a fuckin' spyglass?2 points

Lorcan is the best guy in the company in terms of turning a crowd that starts out cold to him or worse. Black is a good talent, but I feel nothing about him as champion. Dream, Gargano, and Ciampa are right there. Heck, give me Cole.2 points

At this point, it seems that they are going to trot out the Undertaker for any "big" event, to pop a rating or to satisfy the curiosity of any pasha or ego of any vet. Soon he will be like a giant bunraku puppet, bone grinding on bone, held together with cortisone as the rassling more completely sheds kay fabe and transforms totally to spectacle and symbolism. Never mind those black clad druids in the ring with sticks! - RAF2 points

Considering Gargano interrupted EC3's match a couple weeks ago I could see them getting into a feud. Which works for me as I feel Gargano would be just the guy to pair EC3 with to make his character work mean something in-ring. Kyle was guilty by association for so long when he was paired with Davey Richards. And he didn't do much at the time to change anybody's opinions on that. But after teaming with Fish for so long it took a while but people started to appreciate him. Heck, I even felt a need to apologize to him which he seemed to appreciate and from what I heard sounds like a decent guy to boot. Long story short don't be associated with Davey Richards lest you want to be ridiculed with him.2 points
