  1. Lars Sullivan needs to never be shot from beneath again. I didn't know it was possible to make him more ugly. (Full disclosure - As a man into bears... The No DQ match --- oh my.)

  2. Seems like that’d be perfect for a heel. Delusional guy who thinks he’s way hotter than he is.

  5. WWE put up a whole collection of unused photos from photo shoots Here is the whole link so every single photo doesn't have to get posted http://www.wwe.com/gallery/superstar-photoshoot-outtakes EDIT - Forgot to say that's where the Cesaro/Ohno photo came from

  6. Bruno to me existed as more myth than man. I would read about him in the magazines and even in the 90's his shadow loomed large. He was champion for eight years and they described his matches like something out of mythology. That he was never seen on WWF TV and rarely on WCW TV made him seem even bigger. Larry Zbyszko made his career in that one feud. I think he was a really good brawler from his 70's work and I loved his matches with Savage and Honky Tonk Man. Especially realizing his age. This is the first time I can think of that an 82 year old dying has surprised me. But he lead a good long life and seemed to have made peace with everyone.

  7. "You piece of slime!" And then the match that followed: This was around when I started watching wrestling, so to me Bruno was just the announcer guy. Seeing him get in the ring and people going nuts for him was really surprising to me until my dad told me about his history.

  8. I've said for ages that the whole concept of a weekly Observer is obsolete in this day and age. Just print the news, and articles, as and when. There's no need for Dave to be recapping RAW and other mundanities at this point, one of his minions is more than capable of doing that. Dave should concentrating on business analysis and the lengthy articles such as obituaries and historical features.

  11. I think you're half right... Dain is the better pure hoss, but the duality of the soft-spoken erudite Lars when out of the ring to the vicious fiend in ring makes Lars the better monster. If that makes any sense.

  14. It's so cute how you think wrestling promoters care one iota about "trickling down" profits to the workers. To them, paying the workers at all IS the trickle-down. Vince will pay the workers what he damn well feels like.

  16. Also, if I'm Cleveland, tonight scares me more than game one did. Game one was a lifeless performance all around and could be written off as Oladipo having a great night. But to only win by three when LeBron plays like THAT? At home in the first round? Yikes.

  17. As an adult sports fan, I have learned to value hate and all the good it brings into my life, so let me just say I am over fucking whelmed with joy to celebrate the utter and total demolition of the shitlord franchise that is the Anaheim Ducks. Fuck them, long may this endure.

  19. I'll keep mentioning it, but 1992 WCW Saturday Night is so good. They did a masterful job building up kicking Zbyszko out of the Dangerous Alliance. The 2/3 falls match with Anderson/Zbyszko/Eaton v. Steamboat/Rhodes/Koloff gets a lot of time and is great, with a great miscommunication at the end setting up the finish. Paul E gets pissed off and wants to fight Zbyszko, Larry gets back in his face and Anderson IMMEDIATELY steps in to back him off of the boss. And we haven't even gotten to A&E breaking his fucking arm yet.

  21. One of my dreams in life - I don't dream big apparently - is to sit down with an NHL referee and make him watch a game where he swallowed his whistle and make him explain non-calls. Stuff like the hit on Staal or when guys are getting mugged in front of the net or the Kuchevov hit on Vatanen. Not stuff the refs didn't see but that they DID see and just didn't call for no apparent reason. It's the one thing I have always hated about the NHL - the horrible officiating.

  25. I'm still hoping they let KO go to Smackdown to replace Sheamus. Reunite the Kings for a little bit then when it's time to be full-on trainer at the Performance Center he can go back to that.

  28. We wrote up more of WM Weekend, Evolve 103 and the WWN Supershow. Evolve 103 had my favorite Jaka performance, and I really like Jaka. The Supershow had those two bonkers good matches, with Riddle/Ospreay and Sabre/Sawa being so much better than I expected. This weekend is just the gift that keeps on giving. I would have been so burned out if I had been there live. 29. Lars/Killian is the best. Two big dudes just beating the hell out of each other with a bunch of garbage for like 10 minutes or so? Put that on my television every week, please. I like the story of the ending with Dane just biting off a bit too much when thinking he could do a Van Damniator and getting caught by Lars. War Raiders were also great. Damn, I want to see them vs. Bludgeon Brothers so badly. Or, even better, I want to see them and The Bludgeons on the same team in Survivor Series and eat up a bunch of skinny babyfaces. More Kona Reeves, too. I love any heel who brags about the glory of his hair.

  31. As bad as WCW Thunder is, WCW Saturday Night is that much awesome. I loved the two-out-of-three-falls main events as a mark in 1992 and I love them now. Ross needs to cool it with the random football guests, though.

  34. I love that match and there are a whole series of matches tha led up to it. Tito challenged Savage i nthe Garden trying to get the IC strap back but Savage got himself DQd by punching the ref while trapped the figure 4. That led to the rematch at MSG the next month with Bruno as special ref. Tito was on the verge of winning (AGAIN!) when Adonis jumped in the ring and all 4 guys started brawling drawing a DQ. That set up a tag match the next month, Tito & Bruno v. Savage/Adonis. ISavage and Adonis won by countout which set-up the cage match the next month. I was there for all of those matches and seeing Bruno ram Savage and Adonis into a cage filled me with glee! Just a rally great booked locl feud on the NE circuit and the fans went apeshit for Bruno James

  36. Well, yeah, but the fans are going to come around on Roman any time now. Really. The fans are almost there. It's happening this time. No question. Really, this time for sure. Or maybe not. I'm really baffled by the Rusev love. His actual wrestling resume is kinda thin. I don't dislike him, but i kinda feel like the time to push him passed a few years ago with the Cena feud and he hasn't done a whole lot to change my mind about him since. I kinda feel like he's well regarded because he's amusing on social media more than anything he's done in front of the camera. I keep seeing people - here and elsewhere - talking about Smackdown's awesome roster - Bryan, AJ, Joe, Nakamura, Rusev? - and all I can think is this: He's a decent hand, but, I dunno, if NJ called up and offered to trade Yano or Ishii for Rusev, I'd beg Vince to take that deal in a heartbeat. Like I said, I don't dislike him - he's an ok worker, has a decent bit of physical charisma, a decent look, etc. - but i definitely feel like the praise for him on the internet is overheated.

  37. When you factor in that Kevin and Sami were actually signed by Steph after Kurt explicitly rejected them, his performance here was worse than Shane/DB's inaugural draft. The only guy he got with a high ceiling was Drew, and he's strapped to Dolph for some reason. Raw's roster is still loaded from previous years and helped greatly by Braun breaking out, but it's gonna be pretty hard to paint a HHH/Steph firing of Kurt Angle as unjustified after that showing. Meanwhile, Paige has found her true calling as an executive and scout. I would've rather seen Rollins go with the IC belt than Jeff right back with the US, but otherwise SD knocked this one out of the park. Making Asuka official, getting Joe, Almas, Dain, and The Bar, while keeping all their good pieces was incredible. Feels like SD actually has depth for the first time since the 2nd split. Overall, this was the best handled draft in ages. It's funny to mock kayfabe Kurt's terrible GM-ing, but the reality is both shows got better as far as talent distribution goes. Obviously the writing is still going to be an issue on Raw if they keep going with the "Feed everyone to Roman so we can feed Roman to Brock" approach, but in theory, the top talent rotation of Roman, Seth, Finn, KO, Sami, Lashley, and Braun isn't much worse off than SD's god-tier lineup.
